Thirty-five designs cover arrows to the office and compound, walking routes, diversions, closed footpaths, gate and access notices and sign-in reminders. Site Directional Signs: questions answered

Why would a building site need direction signs?

People new to your site, whether a courier, a subcontractor or a visiting client, need leading from the entrance to the site office and along the routes that are safe to walk or drive. Direction signs also flag shut footpaths and diversions, so members of the public keep well clear of the work.

Do arrows come pointing in different directions?

Yes. The signs for the site office, compound, pedestrians and diversions are each sold three ways: arrow up, arrow left and arrow right, as separate products. Construction traffic signs come with a left or right arrow, or without one.

Which sign tells visitors to sign in at the office?

You have a few choices. Some tell all visitors to go to the site office, some add drivers to that instruction, and one is aimed at subcontractors. There is also a sign making clear that every driver and visitor must sign in, which works well on the gate.

How big do site arrows need to be?

It depends who is reading. Someone walking can read an A3 landscape arrow from roughly 12 metres. Drivers need more warning, so pick A2 landscape, readable at around 17 metres, or A1 at about 24, giving them time to slow and turn safely.

Can I have an arrow sign for Plot 12 or Block C?

Yes. The listed signs are fixed designs, but a custom one with your block, plot, gate or compound name can be quoted. Send us the words, the size and the board you want through the Get a quote page.
