Why mesh banners printing exists

Tie a solid banner to an open fence on a blowy day and watch it: it fills like a sail, the cable ties strain, and by Thursday one corner has ripped out. Mesh fixes that. The weave lets a good share of the wind straight through, so the load on each eyelet drops and the banner stays put for weeks. That's the whole case for mesh banners printing on anything exposed.

Which mesh banner for which job

  • A football club fence or school railings: Fence Mesh Banners.
  • Hoardings, Heras fencing and scaffold fronts on a live site: Construction Site Banners.
  • Wrapping a scaffold lift on a house refurb: Scaffold Banners, in mesh or, where you want a solid print, 440gsm PVC.
  • Covering a big fence or a building front: Large Mesh Banners.
  • Anything else: the general Mesh Banners page, with every stock size.

The mesh itself

All our mesh banners printing is done in full colour on 260gsm mesh, a woven PVC mesh. You choose metal or plastic eyelets. Metal eyelets are the stronger pick for a banner that lives outdoors for a long spell. Because of the holes, colours look a touch softer when your nose is right up to it, but step back a few metres and the print reads as one solid picture. That is exactly how fence and scaffold banners get seen, from the road or across a site.

Sizes for mesh banners printing

Stock sizes run from 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) through 6 ft × 3 ft (1829 × 914 mm) and 8 ft × 4 ft (2438 × 1219 mm) up to 13 ft 1 in × 3 ft 3 in (4000 × 1000 mm), 10 ft 10 in × 5 ft 11 in (3300 × 1800 mm) and 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm).

Large mesh and scaffold banners come in 3000 × 2000 mm, 13 ft 1 in × 6 ft 7 in (4000 × 2000 mm), 16 ft 5 in × 9 ft 10 in (5000 × 3000 mm) or a custom size. Live prices are in the size table near the top of the page.

Mesh or PVC?

Choose mesh banners printing when the banner is on an open fence, scaffold or Heras panel, when it stays up for weeks, and when people read it from a distance. Go PVC when it is read up close, like at a reception or an event door, when it hangs on a sheltered wall, or when fine text and thin lines must look razor sharp. The PVC or mesh banner guide weighs it up properly, and PVC banners are a click away.

Artwork that survives the holes

  • Big, bold type. Hairline fonts break up on mesh.
  • Roughly 25 mm of capital height for each 3 metres of viewing distance.
  • A 50 mm clear margin round the edge, where the eyelets go.
  • Work at full size or 1:10 scale. Photos only need 100 to 150 dpi at full size.

Upload a print-ready file, make one in the free online designer, or use our paid artwork service. A real person checks every uploaded file for free on mesh banners printing orders. See the artwork guidelines.

Mesh Banners: questions answered

Our football club ground gets very windy. Will a mesh banner cope?

That is exactly what mesh is for. The woven material is full of tiny holes, so wind blows through instead of pushing against it, and the eyelets and ties take much less strain than with solid PVC. It is the safer pick for fences, scaffolding and Heras panels on open ground.

Can you see the holes in a mesh banner?

Stand right next to it and you will, and tiny lettering or hairline details may look a bit patchy. Walk back a few metres and the holes disappear, leaving what looks like one solid picture. Since fence and scaffold banners are mostly seen from the road, that is what counts.

Mesh or vinyl: what is the real difference?

The vinyl option is 440gsm PVC: solid, nothing shows through, ideal on walls and railings people walk right past. Mesh weighs 260gsm and is woven so wind passes through, perfect for fences and scaffolds. Up close mesh colours look slightly softer, but from a distance they read as solid.

We need a mesh banner wider than 3 metres. Is that possible?

Yes. Large Mesh Banners and Scaffold Banners come as big as 5 m by 3 m, with a 4 m by 2 m option too, or any width and height you type in. The standard mesh range also includes a Heras-sized 3300 by 1800 mm and a long 4 m by 1 m.

Will a mesh banner fit on Heras fencing?

Yes. Heras Fence Mesh Banners are made at 3300 by 1800 mm to cover a full panel, and the standard mesh range offers that size too. Put a tie through every eyelet so the banner stays tight on the fence.
