Business Sign Printing
Business sign printing for the bits of your building customers actually look at: the gate, the front door, the reception wall, the corridor to the loos. Nine sign types share one size list, from A4 up to 1000 × 1000 mm. The choice that matters most is the board: 3mm Di-Bond for outside, Foamex for inside, Correx for a short campaign. After that it is size, sides and fixing.

Business sign printing: match the sign to the spot
Walk your premises the way a new customer would. Where do they hesitate? That is where a sign earns its money. Here is how the range maps onto a typical building.
- The road or the gate: Outdoor Business Signs on 3mm Di-Bond, or Outdoor Welcome Signs on 5mm Foamex or 3mm Di-Bond for a farm shop gate or a B&B porch.
- The shop front: Shop Signs on 5mm Foamex or 3mm Di-Bond, for above the door, beside it or in the window.
- A short push: Advertising Signs on 5mm Foamex, 3.5mm Correx or 3mm Di-Bond, for a grand opening or a seasonal offer by the roadside.
- Reception and walls: Indoor Business Signs on 5mm or 3mm Foamex, and Branding Panels on 3mm Di-Bond for a logo wall behind the desk.
- Offices: Office Signs on 3mm Foamex or 3mm Di-Bond for meeting rooms and team areas.
- Finding the way: Branded Directional Signs and Branded Information Signs, so the arrow to the car park or the loading bay wears your colours too.
The three boards in plain words
Business sign printing comes down to three boards. Di-Bond is two thin sheets of aluminium with a solid core. It stays flat in the weather and does not rot or rust, which is why it goes on gates and walls for the long haul. Foamex is rigid PVC foam board: light, smooth and happy indoors. Correx is fluted plastic that copes with rain and costs the least, fine for weeks rather than years. Still torn? The Foamex, Dibond or Correx guide goes deeper.
On most business sign printing orders you can print one side or both, add gloss or matt lamination to one side, drill the top corners or all four, and have the board profile cut to a shape.
Sizes on offer
Across business sign printing, every type shares the same twelve sizes: A4, A3, A2, 500 × 700 mm, 600 × 600 mm, 20x30 inch, A1, 1000 × 500 mm, 700 × 1000 mm, 30x40 inch, A0 and 1000 × 1000 mm. Live prices are in the size table near the top of the page.
As a rough steer, a door sign read from a step away is happy at A4 or A3. A gate sign that drivers read from the lane needs a bigger board and bigger letters. The sign-trade rule of thumb is about 25 mm of capital height for every 3 metres of distance.
Artwork that reads from across the road
In business sign printing, lead with your name and one thing people need, such as a phone number or opening hours. Skip the long list of services; nobody reads it from a moving car. Pick a bold, plain typeface, and send Pantone references if you have brand colours. Add 3 mm bleed and keep text at least 10 mm inside the edge. The artwork guidelines cover file types.
Upload a print-ready file, design one in the free online designer, or hand it to our paid artwork service. For business sign printing, a real person checks every uploaded file for free.
Timings and delivery for business sign printing
Foamex and Correx signs take 3 working days on standard, 2 on express or 5 on saver. Di-Bond signs take 6 on standard, 5 on express or 8 on saver. The count starts once your order and artwork are confirmed, and every sign is made to order and dispatched from the UK.
UK mainland delivery is £7.95, free on orders of £100 or more after discounts (artwork fees excluded). Boards bigger than A0 add £15. Mainland Highlands add £10; Northern Ireland, the Scottish islands, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isles of Scilly and the Isle of Wight are quoted. The delivery page has the rest, and plain boards without a set purpose live under Foamex and Dibond boards.
Business Signs: questions answered
I want a sign outside my cafe that lasts for years. Which board is best?
Go for 3 mm Dibond. Being aluminium composite, it will not warp, rot or corrode on an outside wall. Correx is fine for short outdoor promotions, and Foamex is happiest indoors or somewhere sheltered like a porch.
Will my sign come with holes so I can screw it up?
If you want it to. The drilling option lets you choose holes in the top two corners or in all four, so the sign is ready to fix to brickwork, a gate or a fence. Pick no drilling if you will use sticky pads or a frame.
Our logo uses very specific colours. Can the sign match them?
Supply your file in CMYK and add the Pantone numbers for the colours that matter. We aim to get as close as the board material allows. A person also looks over your file before it goes to print and tells you if anything needs fixing.
How do I decide how big my shop sign should be?
Measure where it will go, then think about the distance people will be from it. A sign on a door or window can be as small as A4 or A3. A sign above the shop or on a gate, read from across the road, usually needs to be 1000 × 500 mm or more.
