A Boiler Service Label records the service date, the next due date and your phone number, in 76 x 51 mm or 96 x 68 mm. After a clean and dose, a System Inhibitor Label notes that the system was treated. On a new install, an Appliance Installed By Label says who fitted it and how to reach you.

The airing cupboard and the outside wall

Unvented Cylinder Service Labels come in 96 x 68 mm or 110 x 75 mm and log the last and next service. Heat Pump Service Labels do the same for air and ground source units in 76 x 51 mm or 96 x 68 mm. Outdoors, that means the waterproof stock.

Under the sink and by the meter

Isolation Valve Labels, in 62 x 33 mm or 96 x 45 mm, name each valve so the right one gets shut off quickly when something starts dripping. Safety Electrical Connection Labels, in 76 x 51 mm or 96 x 45 mm, mark earthing and bonding connections so nobody unclips them.

Empty flats and unsafe appliances

Empty Property Labels record what was isolated or drained down in a void property, which landlords and letting agents appreciate. Red Danger Do Not Use Labels go on an appliance classed as Immediately Dangerous and disconnected. Both come in 96 x 68 mm or 110 x 75 mm.

Choosing stock for plumbing and heating label printing

• Gloss paper: bright and crisp, fine in a warm, dry kitchen or boiler cupboard.
• Matt paper: takes a biro, so you can write the date and your initials on the day.
• Waterproof white polypropylene with a matt laminate: for lofts, plant rooms, outdoor units, damp cupboards and anything stuck on a van.
