Why buy a banner by its size?

Because the gap is already there. The railings outside the school, the fence panel by the car park, the space above the shop window: they don't change, so you measure once and pick the size that fits. Banner sizes printing this way skips the fiddly custom box. Each product opens on its size, and you only choose edges, eyelets and how many.

One trap. Feet and metres are cousins, not twins. A 10 ft × 3 ft banner is 3048 × 914 mm, while a 3m x 1m banner is 3000 × 1000 mm. If it has to fit between two posts, go with whichever unit your tape measure used.

Standard banner sizes printing: PVC or mesh

440gsm PVC is solid and smooth, and the print looks crisp close up. 260gsm mesh has tiny holes that let wind through, so it sits better on a fence or scaffold in an exposed spot. Here is what comes in which.

Picking a size without the guesswork

Banner sizes printing only works if the size is right, so measure first.

  • Measure the fixing points, not the whole fence. Eyelets need something to tie to.
  • Think about who reads it. A parent walking past the school gate is a few metres away. A driver on the main road is a lot further, so the words need to be bigger, and so does the banner.
  • Short and tall spaces such as a table front or a stall roof suit the slim 500 mm tall sizes.
  • If nothing fits, custom size banners take any width and height.

Artwork that fits the size

PVC sizes take 4 working days on standard, from 2 on express, or 6 on saver. Mesh sizes take 6 on standard, from 4 on express, or 8 on saver. The clock starts once your order and artwork are confirmed. Every banner in our banner sizes printing range is made to order and dispatched from the UK.

UK mainland delivery is £7.95, free on orders of £100 or more after discounts (artwork fees don't count). Anything over 3 m on any side adds £15, and that includes the 10 ft × 3 ft, which is just over at 3048 mm, and the 4 m long sizes. Mainland Highlands add £10; Northern Ireland, the Scottish islands, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isles of Scilly and the Isle of Wight are quoted. Which banner size do most people end up ordering?

The 6 × 3 ft banner (1829 x 914 mm) sells more than any other. Shops, school fetes and club fences all use it. Close behind come 8 × 3 ft (2438 x 914 mm) and 2 m × 1 m, which suit long railings and wider shop fronts.

My frame says 10 ft × 3 ft (3048 × 914 mm). Can I just order 3 m x 1 m instead?

Not safely. In millimetres the feet version works out at 3048 by 914, while the metric one is 3000 by 1000. So one is a touch longer and the other a touch deeper. For a fixed frame, measure in millimetres and order that.

Our club fence faces a busy road. How big should the banner be?

If drivers will be 10 to 30 metres away, start with a 10 × 3 ft, a 3 m × 1 m or a 4 m × 1 m banner. Then cut the wording right down. Fewer words let each letter be bigger, and that is what people in cars can actually read.

How tall do the letters need to be so people can read them?

A handy guide: roughly 25 mm of capital height for each 3 metres people stand away, and no less than half of that. So a headline meant to be read from 15 metres needs capitals around 125 mm tall. Go bigger if the message is short.

None of the listed sizes fit my space. What can I do?
