Overview
Backdrop banner printing gives an event a wall worth standing in front of. Behind the speaker at a product launch, across the back of a stage at a school show, or as the photo spot at an 18th birthday, a backdrop does two jobs: it hides a dull wall and it puts your branding into every picture.
Sizes: stock or your own
Pick a common size or type your own:
- 6 ft 7 in × 6 ft 7 in (2000 × 2000 mm). A photo corner for one or two people.
- 8 ft × 8 ft (2400 × 2400 mm). Room for a small group.
- 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm) and 10 ft × 8 ft (3000 × 2400 mm). A wider stage or press wall.
- 13 ft 1 in × 8 ft 2 in (4000 × 2500 mm). A full stage back.
- Custom. Any width from 0.5 m to 6 m and any height from 0.5 m to 3 m.
Measure the space, including the height of any frame or ceiling, before you choose.
Backdrop banner printing: PVC or PVC-free
440gsm PVC is hemmed with eyelets, so you can tie it to a frame, truss or fence. 400gsm PVC-free banner material is the option when a venue or client prefers to avoid PVC. Both print in full colour.
Designing for the camera
Keep key logos above shoulder height so people do not block them, and repeat the logo across the width so any crop still catches one. Plain areas behind faces help photos look clean. Upload a print-ready file, use the free online designer, or book the paid artwork service; a person checks every uploaded file for free. The what size banner you need guide helps with measuring.
Timing, venues and delivery
Standard production is 3 working days after your order and artwork are confirmed, express from 1, saver 5. Backdrops are made to order and dispatched from the UK. UK mainland delivery is £7.95, free on orders of £100 or more after discounts; items over 3 m on any side, such as the 13 ft 1 in × 8 ft 2 in size, add £15. See delivery and more backdrops.
Venues manage fire risk under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, and many set rules on the materials you can hang and where. Check the venue's event pack before the day so your backdrop is not turned away at the door.

Questions
Quick answers about backdrop banner printing.
How do I know which backdrop banner size will cover the space behind our stall or stage?
Get the tape out first and measure the wall, frame or stage. A photo wall is normally covered by 8 ft × 8 ft (2438 × 2438 mm), while a stage or a wider area needs 10 ft × 8 ft (3048 × 2438 mm). If neither matches, type your own width and height into the page.
Can the backdrop banner have our names, a date or photos on it?
Yes. Upload a finished design, or pick artwork help in the options (design from your brief is £35) and send us the names, dates and photos. Photos need to be sharp and high resolution to look good at backdrop size; our file check flags any that could print soft.
How fast can I have my backdrop banner order?
Express gets it out in 1 working day, Standard ships after 3 working days and Saver, the lowest price, after 5 working days. Courier delivery follows in 1 to 3 working days. Spend £100 on goods (design fees are not counted) and UK mainland delivery is free; otherwise it is £7.95 once. Sizes over 3 m on a side, such as 3m x 2.4m (10ft x 8ft) and 4m x 2.5m, go by specialist courier for £15 added once to the order.
Is anything added to the price of my backdrop banner order at checkout?
Only delivery, where it applies. The figure on the page is the one you pay at checkout. The £108.80 starting price for your backdrop banner order is the full price of the goods.
Which sizes can I get a backdrop banner in?
There are 5: 6 ft 7 in × 6 ft 7 in (2000 × 2000 mm), 8 ft × 8 ft (2438 × 2438 mm), 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm), 10 ft × 8 ft (3048 × 2438 mm) or 13 ft 1 in × 8 ft 2 in (4000 × 2500 mm). If none fit, type in your own width and height. Prices start at £108.80 and change with the size you pick.
What is a backdrop banner made of?
You can have 400gsm PVC-free banner or 440gsm PVC banner, with the design printed in full colour. Tell us where it is going if you are unsure which suits. It comes in 5 sizes. Prices start at £108.80.
Who looks after the order once I have paid?
FatPrint does. Your artwork is checked by a person first, your backdrop banner is made to order, and a courier brings it to you with email tracking. Questions along the way? The question box on this page reaches a person.
Asked by buyers
How much will Backdrop Banners set me back?
£108.80 is where Backdrop Banners start, set up as 2000 × 2000 mm and 400gsm PVC-free banner on the Saver speed. Change the size, material, extras, quantity or speed and the total on the page moves straight away. The price you see is the price you pay at checkout, with delivery the only thing that can be added. Delivery anywhere on the UK mainland is £7.95 an order, and it costs nothing once the goods come to £100 or more after any discount code (design and artwork fees are not counted).
Do the biggest sizes of Backdrop Banners cost more to deliver?
Only the biggest. For Backdrop Banners that means 3m x 2.4m (10ft x 8ft) and 4m x 2.5m. Very big items (a banner longer than 3 m on any side, or a board bigger than A0) go with a specialist courier, which adds £15 once to the whole order, however many big items are in it. Everything smaller is sent at the ordinary rate. Send it to a UK mainland address for a flat £7.95, or for free when the goods in the basket add up to £100 or more after discounts; artwork and design charges do not count towards that.
Is delivery ever free?
It is £7.95 for the whole order, not per item, and free once the goods reach £100 after any discount code; design or artwork charges are left out of that £100. At £108.80 the opening price is already over £100, so mainland delivery costs nothing. Pick one of the biggest sizes and a one-off £15 oversize charge applies. A mainland Highlands postcode puts a single £10 on the order. Northern Ireland has its delivery priced before you pay, and so do the Channel Islands, the Scottish islands, Scilly, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man.
If I buy Backdrop Banners today, when will they leave you?
As the page first opens, the speeds for Backdrop Banners are Express 1 working day, Standard 3 and Saver 5, counting Monday to Friday and skipping bank holidays. The count begins once we have your order and a file ready to print. A bigger size or a different material can move it by a day either way; each speed shows its own days as you choose. Tracking arrives by email on the day it ships, and the courier usually takes one to three working days from there.
I cannot design at all. Can someone make the artwork for me?
Yes. When you choose the Artwork option you can pick from: send your own finished file (no charge), we set your words and logo on a tidy layout, called typesetting (£15), we design it from your brief (£35), we redraw a blurry or low quality logo as sharp vector art (£30) or we create a brand new logo (£50). Each fee is fixed, sits as its own line in your basket and covers every item on that line. Typesetting and design from a brief each come with one first draft and two rounds of changes. Prefer to do it yourself? The online designer is free to use.
Could I lay out these backdrops myself on your website?
Yes. Start the designer from this page, choose a layout to begin with, then drop in your text, logo and photos and drag them where you want. It checks as you go and warns you about leftover sample text, lettering that is too small, anything outside the safe area and images too low in resolution, all before you finish. Designing and previewing costs nothing. The watermark you see on screen is never printed; once you finish, it goes into the basket. Make the artwork for these backdrops the same size as the one you order, such as 6 ft 7 in × 6 ft 7 in (2000 × 2000 mm).
Which size of Backdrop Banners gets noticed from across the street?
Grab a tape measure and stand where your visitors will stand. If they are walking past a few metres away, a modest size does the job; if they are across a car park or a road, go bigger. Choices here go from 6 ft 7 in × 6 ft 7 in (2000 × 2000 mm) at the small end to 13 ft 1 in × 8 ft 2 in (4000 × 2500 mm) at the big end. A size of your own can be keyed in as well.
Which is the smallest and which the biggest backdrop I can order here?
Smallest: 6 ft 7 in × 6 ft 7 in (2000 × 2000 mm), from £108.80. Biggest: 13 ft 1 in × 8 ft 2 in (4000 × 2500 mm), from £248.75. 3 more are listed in between, each priced on the cheapest options. Any other width and height inside the limits on the page can be typed in too. Not sure which? Mark the space out with tape or string first and stand back to look.
Will these backdrops survive being left outside?
Rain is not a problem. The 440gsm PVC used here is a solid vinyl that water runs straight off, and it is meant for outdoor jobs such as shop fronts, club railings, walls and fetes. Sun, wind and the way it is tied up decide how many months it looks good. A hem round the edge, metal eyelets rather than plastic, and every hole tied all make a real difference. Where it faces a strong wind on open fencing or scaffolding, mesh copes better because the air goes through. For these backdrops, the material can be 440gsm PVC banner, hemmed, eyelets; or 400gsm PVC-free banner.
Is there a knack to tying up these backdrops?
Corners go first, which keeps it level, then the rest of the eyelets along the top and bottom edges. Pull each fixing just firm enough to take up the slack without stretching the backdrop. Cable ties, bungees and rope all work; bungees have a bit of stretch, useful for solid PVC on a windy railing. Check it again after the first gusty day and replace anything that has snapped. For these backdrops, the material can be 440gsm PVC banner, hemmed, eyelets; or 400gsm PVC-free banner.
Do I get a frame with these backdrops, or just the print?
Just the print. Choose the PVC version and it arrives hemmed with eyelets, ready to tie onto poles, a truss, a wall or a frame you already have. Measure what you are hanging it on and pick the matching size, or type in the exact measurements you need. If you want something that stands up on its own, our pop-up stands and fabric displays are worth a look. For these backdrops, the material can be 440gsm PVC banner, hemmed, eyelets; or 400gsm PVC-free banner.
How much for the biggest size, 13 ft 1 in × 8 ft 2 in (4000 × 2500 mm)?
From £248.75, with the cheapest settings and the Saver service. That clears the £100 mark on its own, so UK mainland delivery costs nothing. Select it on the page and swap materials, finishes and speed to watch how the figure moves. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each backdrop is made to order for you.
I need several backdrops, some in different sizes. How do I buy them?
Set up the first size, type how many you need next to Add to basket, then go back and set up the next size as another line. Every price you see is for one backdrop, and the quantity box does the multiplying. Paying for artwork? It is charged once per line, not per item, and the option to reuse artwork from another basket item adds no second fee. For big numbers, ask on our Get a quote page. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each backdrop is made to order for you.
Can a private person buy a single backdrop?
Yes. One is enough, and you do not need a business name or an account to check out. The opening price is £108.80, and any bank card will do. At £108.80 the opening price is already over £100, so mainland delivery costs nothing. A person still checks your file before it is printed, just as for a big order.
Could the total go up after I reach the checkout?
The only thing that can join the goods price is delivery; the price you see is the price you pay at checkout. Delivery anywhere on the UK mainland is £7.95 an order, and it costs nothing once the goods come to £100 or more after any discount code (design and artwork fees are not counted). If you pick a paid design option, it sits in the basket as a separate line with its own fee, so every penny is listed before you pay. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each backdrop is made to order for you.
How much does a 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm) backdrop cost?
From £155.45, with the cheapest settings and the Saver service. That clears the £100 mark on its own, so UK mainland delivery costs nothing. Select it on the page and swap materials, finishes and speed to watch how the figure moves. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each backdrop is made to order for you.
Is there a quicker turnaround for these backdrops?
Work back from the day you need them. Express takes 1 working day to get Backdrop Banners out, against 5 on Saver, and costs £144.99 on the opening option rather than £108.80. Add up to three working days for the courier, plus any time you need to finish the file. Cutting it fine? Put your date in the question box before you order.
I live in the Scottish Highlands. Will Backdrop Banners cost more to send?
The whole UK is covered. Outside it, sadly, we cannot deliver. Mainland addresses in the Highlands pay one extra £10 on the order, even when delivery would otherwise be free. For Northern Ireland, and for the Channel Islands, the Scottish islands, Scilly, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man, we tell you the delivery cost before you pay, so message us your postcode on the Contact page or our Get a quote page. Choose Saver and these backdrops leave us after 5 working days; Express brings that down to 1.
Which file formats can I upload?
A PDF made at the size you ordered works best, with the fonts embedded or turned into outlines. AI, EPS and SVG are fine too, as are high resolution JPG, PNG or TIFF images. Word, PowerPoint or Canva designs can be used, but save them out as a full quality PDF where you can. Attach up to 3 files of up to 25 MB each on the product page, or order first and send them afterwards; we email you a link. If you have no file, you can build the design for these backdrops in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.
Can we have pictures of the family, the team or our products on these backdrops?
Yes. Put them in your own artwork, drop them into the online designer, or pick one of the design options and send them over. To fill 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm) edge to edge, a picture should be about 11,811 pixels wide for a good result at 100 dpi. Most phone camera shots are big enough. Pictures copied off Facebook, Instagram or a chat app usually lack the pixels, and the person checking your file will point out any that could look soft.
Will anyone look at my file before it is printed?
Every file gets a human check for size, bleed and resolution, and we contact you about any problem before printing. With the online designer, what you see on screen is what gets printed. Nobody can know your details better than you, so double-check names, numbers and dates: we print what is supplied, and work begins once the order and file are confirmed. Sizes for these backdrops go from 6 ft 7 in × 6 ft 7 in (2000 × 2000 mm) at the small end to 13 ft 1 in × 8 ft 2 in (4000 × 2500 mm), 5 in all.
Our wording is not finished yet. Can I still pay now and send it later?
Yes. Pay now and add the file afterwards: uploading after ordering is allowed, so you do not have to wait for the final version. If a volunteer, friend or designer is preparing it, they can send the finished file to you to upload, or get in touch through our Contact page quoting your order number. Nothing goes to print until the file arrives and has been checked, so if there is a date to hit, get the artwork over as soon as you can. Make the artwork for these backdrops the same size as the one you order, such as 6 ft 7 in × 6 ft 7 in (2000 × 2000 mm).
I am not a designer. What if the file I send turns out to be unusable?
You will not be left guessing. Each uploaded file is opened and looked over by a member of the team, and problems such as low-resolution pictures, no bleed or the wrong page size are sent back to you to fix before printing. If fixing it sounds like a chore, choose typesetting for £15: we lay out your text and logo, show you a first draft, then make up to two rounds of changes. Sizes for these backdrops go from 6 ft 7 in × 6 ft 7 in (2000 × 2000 mm) at the small end to 13 ft 1 in × 8 ft 2 in (4000 × 2500 mm), 5 in all.
How many pixels does a photo need to print well on these backdrops?
Roughly 15,748 pixels across and 9,843 down for a 13 ft 1 in × 8 ft 2 in (4000 × 2500 mm) design, which is 100 dpi. That is plenty for something people read from a few metres away; anywhere from 100 to 150 dpi at full size will do. Text and logos are safest as vector art, which never goes fuzzy. Pictures saved from a website or social media are nearly always too small, and our file check will point out any that could print blurred.
Once I finish designing these backdrops online, is the file mine to keep?
Yes. Order printing with an online design and a full resolution PDF comes with it; after payment you can download it from your confirmation email or from My Account. Just want the file? Finish the design and buy the print-ready PDF on its own for £9.99. As digital content, it cannot be cancelled once the download begins. Make the artwork for these backdrops the same size as the one you order, such as 6 ft 7 in × 6 ft 7 in (2000 × 2000 mm).
Will camera flash bounce off the backdrop?
Flash and strong lights can glint off any smooth print. Keep pale, shiny areas away from the spot behind people's heads, and aim the lights in from an angle, not head-on. Busy or darker designs hide glare better than big plain light areas. Pull it tight when you hang it: creases and ripples stand out far more in pictures than in real life. For these backdrops, the material can be 440gsm PVC banner, hemmed, eyelets; or 400gsm PVC-free banner.
Is PVC-free banner material any good, and when should I use it?
PVC-free is a 400gsm material with no PVC in it at all. It prints in the same full colour and is well suited to indoor displays, shops, exhibitions and short-term jobs. If it is going outside for a long time, or somewhere with a lot of wind, the 440gsm PVC or mesh stands up better. Both are priced on the page, so you can check the same size in each material before you decide. For these backdrops, the material can be 440gsm PVC banner, hemmed, eyelets; or 400gsm PVC-free banner.
Can these backdrops be made to my own measurements?
Yes. Any width between 500 and 6000 mm and any height between 500 and 3000 mm can be entered, and the total changes as you type. For something larger, or a shaped banner, ask us for a price. Sizes for these backdrops go from 6 ft 7 in × 6 ft 7 in (2000 × 2000 mm) at the small end to 13 ft 1 in × 8 ft 2 in (4000 × 2500 mm), 5 in all.
Would these backdrops look right inside a hall or a shop?
Yes. PVC hangs flat and the print comes out crisp, so it suits school halls, church halls, receptions, stage fronts and indoor events. There is also a 400gsm PVC-free material on this product, a good pick for inside if you would rather avoid PVC. Inside you can skip the ties altogether. Hang it by the eyelets from hooks or a length of cord, or use hanging strips that peel off cleanly. For these backdrops, the material can be 440gsm PVC banner, hemmed, eyelets; or 400gsm PVC-free banner.
We have a school fair coming up. Would these backdrops be suitable?
They make a good stage or photo background, hung on a frame, poles or a wall. Outdoors, look at the fixings again if it turns windy. Order with enough time for the making and the courier before the event. For these backdrops, the material can be 440gsm PVC banner, hemmed, eyelets; or 400gsm PVC-free banner.
Our spot gets windy. Is a PVC backdrop going to cope?
Think of solid PVC stretched along open fencing as a sail. Every gust presses on the whole sheet, and all that force ends up in the eyelets and the ties. So use every eyelet, pull it firm without stretching it, look at the ties again after the first blustery spell, and bring it in if a storm is on the way. If it has to stay up for weeks somewhere exposed, mesh is the better buy because much of the wind blows through it. For these backdrops, the material can be 440gsm PVC banner, hemmed, eyelets; or 400gsm PVC-free banner.
How should I keep these backdrops between uses?
Make sure it is bone dry and clean, then roll it up loosely with the print on the outside, round a cardboard tube if one is handy. Try not to fold it, because sharp folds leave creases and the ink can crack along them. Snip off old cable ties before rolling so they do not press marks into the print, and store the roll in a dry cupboard well clear of radiators. For these backdrops, the material can be 440gsm PVC banner, hemmed, eyelets; or 400gsm PVC-free banner.
Next year we will want the same backdrop again. Is reordering easy?
Yes. Treat it as a fresh order of the same item with the same settings, and attach the file you used last time. For online designs, the print-ready PDF from the original paid order is waiting in My Account and your confirmation email. Change any details that have moved on, such as a new email address or this year's date, before uploading. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each backdrop is made to order for you.
Which cards do you take, and is paying online safe?
You pay by debit or credit card when you check out, and you can do it as a guest without making an account. Card details are handled by Stripe, a specialist payment company, so the full card number never reaches us or sits on our system. Printing starts after payment goes through and your file has been checked. If your group needs a price agreed before anyone pays, ask for a quote instead. Before delivery, these backdrops cost from £108.80.
We need a few different designs. Do they each need their own order?
One checkout covers the lot. Add a basket line for every design, attach the right file to each, then pay once. You pay a single delivery charge of £7.95 for the whole order, or nothing if the goods add up to £100 or more. Repeating one design on another line? Choose the artwork choice that points to a file already in the basket, and no second design fee is charged. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each backdrop is made to order for you.
I am not sure which options to pick for these backdrops. Can someone advise me?
Of course. Tell us three things: where these backdrops will go, whether it is for one day or for years, and your deadline. Send that through the question box on this page or the Contact page, and a member of the team will suggest options. If what you need is outside the options listed, the Get a quote page lets you describe it and get a price. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each backdrop is made to order for you.
The parcel turned up damaged. How do I sort it out?
Look everything over when it arrives. If something is damaged or missing, contact us within 48 hours through the contact form, with your order number and photos of both the item and the packaging. Please keep hold of it until we reply; we then sort out a reprint or a refund. Your legal rights stay the same, as the returns page sets out. The biggest sizes of these backdrops go by specialist courier, which adds £15 once to the order.
We have several sponsors for our charity event. Can their logos all go on these backdrops?
Yes. Line the logos up along the bottom or in a row, keep them all a similar size so nobody feels left out, and hold them 50 mm in from the edges. Short of time? Our typesetting service (£15) or a design worked up from your notes (£35) can put it together for you, with one first draft and two rounds of changes. If a sponsor only has a blurry logo, we can rebuild it for £30. Make the artwork for these backdrops the same size as the one you order, such as 6 ft 7 in × 6 ft 7 in (2000 × 2000 mm).
Which mistakes does the online designer warn me about?
Spelling is the one thing it cannot judge, so read that yourself. It does catch placeholder words nobody changed, tiny lettering, anything drifting beyond the safe area or near the trim, blurry logos and photos, and objects covering words. Issues that would spoil the print stop you finishing until they are sorted; lighter warnings you may choose to accept. Make the artwork for these backdrops the same size as the one you order, such as 6 ft 7 in × 6 ft 7 in (2000 × 2000 mm).
Once we are done with these backdrops, how do we get rid of them responsibly?
Most household recycling will not take PVC banner or mesh material, so using it again is the greener option. Store it carefully for next time, or reuse it as a cover or a tarp. A few specialist recyclers do accept PVC banners, so it is worth asking your council or your waste collector. If you would rather avoid PVC altogether, pick the PVC-free material. For these backdrops, the material can be 440gsm PVC banner, hemmed, eyelets; or 400gsm PVC-free banner.

How we handle reviews
Only people who bought the product can review it. Each review is checked against a real order and marked "Verified owner".
We publish every genuine review, good or bad, exactly as it was written. We never edit reviews or choose which ones to show. The only reviews we hold back are spam, abuse, or ones that include personal details like a phone number or email address.
The star rating is the average of every published review. We never pay for reviews or give discounts or gifts in return for them.
Reviews show the reviewer's first name and initial. To have your own review taken down, contact us.
