Vehicle Signs & Magnets (vehicle graphics printing)

Why magnets suit so many small businesses

Plenty of sole traders drive the same car for work and for family life. A cleaner, a dog walker, a driving instructor, a mobile hairdresser, a plumber in a small van: they want to be seen on the job, but not on holiday in Cornwall. Permanent livery is a big commitment on a family car. Vehicle graphics printing on magnets is the halfway house. That is why every product in our vehicle graphics printing range is a printed magnet, and nothing here needs a fitter.

Which vehicle graphics printing product for which vehicle

  • You drive a car: Car Door Magnetic Signs in A3 or A2 for the front doors.
  • You drive a van: Magnetic Van Signs in A2, a good size for a van side or rear door.
  • You drive a taxi or private hire car: Taxi Magnetic Signs in A3 or A2, where your licensing authority allows magnets.
  • You just know the size: A4, A3 and A2 magnetic signs each have their own page, or pick all three in Vehicle Magnets.

The whole range sits together under vehicle magnets if you want to compare.

The material behind our vehicle graphics printing

There is one material, so there is one less decision. Each sign is printed on 900µ magnetic sheeting, which is 0.9 mm thick. That is bendy enough to follow a flat door skin and heavy enough to grip steel firmly. Your choices come down to size and quantity. The size table near the top of the page shows live prices, and custom sizes such as 600 x 300 mm are available if A-sizes do not fit your panel.

Check your panel before vehicle graphics printing

  • Steel only. Magnets will not hold on aluminium, plastic or fibreglass. Try a fridge magnet on the door first.
  • Flat only. Deep creases, body lines and trim strips break the contact. Measure the flat area, then pick a size that sits inside it.
  • Two sides, two signs. One vehicle usually means a quantity of 2. A small fleet is 2 per vehicle.

Artwork for vehicle graphics printing

People read a moving car in a couple of seconds, often from the next lane or a pavement. Keep it to three things: your business name, what you do, and one phone number. A bold typeface and strong contrast win every time over a busy photo. Set the file up at finished size, keep text a little in from the edges, and use a vector logo if you have one. Then read the phone number out loud before you order.

Upload a print-ready file, use the free online designer, or book our paid artwork service. A real person checks every uploaded file for free. The artwork guidelines explain file set-up.

Vehicle Signs & Magnets: questions answered

Will a magnetic sign stay on my car?

Only on flat steel. A quick test: put a fridge magnet on the panel you have in mind. Strong grip means the sign will hold. Panels made of aluminium, plastic or fibreglass will not work, and neither will deep creases or trim.

How big a sign can my car or van take?

A3 fits the front doors of most cars. A2 suits bigger doors, van sides and back doors. Measure the flat part of the panel, away from handles and creases, and pick the biggest size that lies completely flat. Custom sizes such as 600 x 300 mm have prices too.

I drive private hire. Are magnets allowed on my car?

Plenty of taxi and private hire drivers use them, but the licensing authority has the final say. Read your licence conditions for permitted sizes and wording, and whether magnets are allowed at all, before ordering. Our taxi magnets come in A3 and A2.

I have one van. How many signs do I need?

Normally a pair, one on each side, so set the quantity to two and use the same artwork. Running a fleet? One design can be ordered up to 250 times in a single order.

How long do vehicle signs take?

On standard, 5 working days after your artwork is confirmed before they leave us. Express takes 4 and saver 6. Delivery options and costs show at checkout, and the delivery section on this page explains the current charges.
