Event & Welcome Boards (welcome board printing)

Three questions before you order

What is the occasion?

Each welcome board printing product is set up for a different day, so start there.

  • Wedding Welcome Sign Boards for the welcome sign, seating plan or table plan. A3, A2, 500 × 700 mm or A1.
  • Event Sign Boards for a launch, an open day, a charity dinner or directions round a venue. Same four sizes.
  • Party Sign Boards for birthdays, graduations and christenings. A3, A2 or A1.
  • Memorial Display Boards for a funeral welcome or a photo display at the wake. A3, A2 or A1.
  • Presentation Boards for conference posters and exhibitions. A2, A1 or A0.

Easel or wall?

For welcome board printing, 5mm Foamex is stiffer and stands straight on an easel all day. 3mm is lighter, better for hanging or fixing to a stand. Foamex itself is a light, rigid PVC foam board with a smooth face that takes colour well.

Any extras?

With welcome board printing you can add gloss or matt lamination to one side, drill the top corners or all four, print one side or both, and profile cut the board to a shape, such as an arch for a wedding sign. Matt lamination cuts glare from venue lights and cameras; gloss makes colours pop.

Welcome board printing sizes

A1 (594 × 841 mm) is the favourite for a welcome sign on an easel, readable across a hotel foyer. A2 suits a table plan, and A3 a sign on a table or a door. Live prices for the wedding boards are in the size table near the top of the page.

Getting the words right

With welcome board printing, one wrong letter ruins a photo. Check every name, every date and every spelling of Siobhan, then get someone else to check them too. We print what you design or supply. For table plans, set names big enough to read from a step or two back, as guests will be holding a drink and a coat. For memorial boards, use the sharpest copies of photos you can find; small phone shots can look soft at A1. Add 3 mm bleed and keep text at least 10 mm inside the edge. The artwork guidelines cover file types and resolution.

You can upload a print-ready file, design one in the free online designer, or hand it to our paid artwork service, which includes 1 design and 2 rounds of changes. For any welcome board printing, a real person checks every uploaded file for free.

Timings and delivery

Wedding, event, party and memorial boards take 3 working days on standard, 2 on express or 5 on saver. Presentation boards take 6 on standard, 5 on express or 8 on saver. The count starts once your order and artwork are confirmed. For a wedding or a funeral, pick the faster option if the date is close; welcome board printing is not something to leave to the last post. Everything is made to order and dispatched from the UK.

UK mainland delivery is £7.95, free on orders of £100 or more after discounts (artwork fees excluded). Mainland Highlands add £10; Northern Ireland, the Scottish islands, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isles of Scilly and the Isle of Wight are quoted. The delivery page has the rest, and odd sizes can go through get a quote.

Event & Welcome Boards: questions answered

What size welcome sign looks right on an easel at a wedding?

A1 is the popular pick for the easel by the door. If your easel is compact, 500 × 700 mm is a little smaller. A2 or A3 work well for table plans, arrows and signs that sit on a table.

Will the board stay straight on an easel?

Choose 5 mm Foamex and it will. It is stiffer, so it sits upright at a venue door or beside the top table. The 3 mm board weighs less and is the better pick when the sign hangs from a hook or screws onto a stand.

Can our board be cut into an arch shape?

Yes. Select profile cutting and we trim the board to follow the edge of your design, such as an arch. Draw the shape as a clean vector line in your artwork so the cutter has a clear path to follow.

Gloss or matt for a board that will appear in lots of photos?

Matt lamination cuts reflections from venue lights and camera flashes, which helps in photos. Gloss makes colours look deeper and richer. You can also leave the board without lamination.
