The printed PVC banner, explained in one breath
A solid sheet of banner material, printed edge to edge in full colour, hemmed, punched with eyelets and sent out with ties if you want them. Nothing shows through it, so colours stay punchy and smaller text stays crisp. That is why a printed PVC banner is the default for a shop fascia, a railing outside a church hall, a netball court wall or a car wash forecourt.
Same banner, set up for different jobs
Every product here uses the same materials. The names just point you at the right starting options.
- Facing the weather: Outdoor Banners on 440gsm PVC.
- Inside a shop, hall or reception: Indoor Banners on 400gsm PVC-free.
- Hanging from beams, ceilings or a balcony: Hanging Banners.
- Tied to a fence: Fence Banners.
- An awkward space: Custom Size Banners, which also offer 260gsm mesh.
- Also here: Business, Advertising, Event, Exhibition and Fast Turnaround Banners, each with the full size list.
PVC or PVC-free?
440gsm PVC is the tough one. It's what you want outside and anywhere you need the brightest print. 400gsm PVC-free is made without PVC and suits indoor displays, retail and exhibitions, or any venue or client that asks you to avoid PVC. Both take hems and eyelets the same way, so a printed PVC banner and its PVC-free twin hang identically.
Finishing: hems, eyelets and ties
Pick these in the configurator. Hemmed edges are folded and welded for strength, and we'd have them on anything going outside. Eyelets come in plastic or metal; metal is the stronger pick for a printed PVC banner that stays up for months. Add one or two bags of cable ties and you can put it up the day it lands.
One warning. A solid banner on an open fence behaves like a sail in a gale. On walls, railings and sheltered spots it's fine. On a long exposed fence, look at mesh banners first, or read the PVC or mesh banner guide.
Printed PVC banner sizes
The 13 stock sizes run from 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) through 6 ft × 3 ft (1829 × 914 mm) and 8 ft × 4 ft (2438 × 1219 mm) up to 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm), with long thin options like 6 ft 7 in × 1 ft 8 in (2000 × 500 mm) for fascias. Live prices sit in the size table near the top of the page. Two stock sizes go past 3 m on one side, 10 ft × 3 ft (3048 × 914 mm) and 13 ft 1 in × 3 ft 3 in (4000 × 1000 mm), so they pick up the oversize delivery charge. You can order 1 to 99 of a design. Artwork for a printed PVC banner
- Design at the ordered size or an exact scale such as 1:10.
- Photos at 100 to 150 dpi at full size look sharp from the pavement. Keep logos and text as vectors.
- Leave 50 mm clear of text on every edge. The hem folds there and the eyelets go through it.
- RGB files are converted to CMYK, which can dull very bright greens, blues and oranges. Give us a Pantone reference if a brand colour matters.
Upload a print-ready file, use the free online designer, or book our paid artwork service. A real person checks every uploaded file for free. See the artwork guidelines.

PVC Banners: questions answered
What am I actually getting with a PVC banner?
A tough, bendy 440gsm vinyl sheet with your design printed edge to edge in full colour. Most people add a hem and eyelets so it ties neatly to railings or a frame. Nothing shows through it, which keeps colours punchy and small print easy to read.
Is hemming worth adding?
If the banner lives outdoors, definitely. The edge gets folded back and heat welded, so it resists tearing where the eyelets pull. A short indoor display, like a one-evening school concert, can manage without.
Metal eyelets or plastic ones?
Go metal when the banner will face months of weather on railings. Plastic is fine for lighter jobs and short displays. Whichever you pick, use every eyelet so no single corner takes all the strain.
The school hall has asked for no PVC. What is PVC-free?
A 400gsm alternative made with no PVC at all. Venues, shops and exhibitions that ban PVC accept it, and it suits indoor displays well. Sizes and finishing mirror the standard 440gsm version, so you lose no choice by switching.
Can I hang a PVC banner on our club fence?
On a fence tucked out of the wind, yes. Out in the open, a solid banner behaves like a sail, so add plenty of ties, keep it drum tight and bring it in when a storm is forecast. When it has to stay up for weeks on exposed fencing, mesh is the wiser buy.
