Overview

Custom size banner printing, made to order and dispatched from the UK.

Start with a tape measure

Measure the space twice. Then take a little off each side for the fixings, so the banner sits flat instead of bunching at the corners. A fascia over a café door might be 3.4 m wide and 0.6 m tall; that is not a stock size, but it is a perfectly good custom one. Type the numbers in and the price follows.

Pick the material for the spot

  • 440gsm PVC is the everyday outdoor choice, hemmed with eyelets.
  • 400gsm PVC-free is for venues or buyers that have banned PVC.
  • 260gsm mesh lets the wind through, which matters on fences and exposed walls.

If a stock size is close enough, you can still pick one: 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm), 8 ft × 4 ft (2438 × 1219 mm) and 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm) are all on the list, with four more in between.

Custom size banner printing for odd jobs

A drama group needs a banner to run the full width of the stage lip. A landlord wants one strip to fit between two drainpipes. A market trader has a gazebo valance that is 2.9 m, not 3 m. Each one gets a banner cut to the exact size typed in.

Artwork, turnaround and delivery

Set your artwork up at the size you ordered, with the ratio matching. Upload a print-ready file, try the free online designer, or book the paid artwork service. A person checks every uploaded file for free. Standard production is 4 working days after your order and artwork are confirmed; express is from 2, saver 6.

UK mainland delivery is £7.95, free on orders of £100 or more after discounts. A banner over 3 m on any side adds £15. See delivery for full terms, read what size banner you need, or browse PVC banners in fixed sizes. Custom size banner printing is quicker to get right when the measurements are written down before you start.

Questions

Quick answers about custom size banner printing.

I have an awkward gap to fill. How do you work out the cost of a banner cut to my own measurements?

Type in your width and height, pick 440gsm PVC, 400gsm PVC-free or 260gsm mesh, and a figure appears straight away. Behind that figure, we look at the closest standard size your banner can be trimmed out of and base the cost on it.

Who looks after the order once I have paid?

FatPrint does. Your artwork is checked by a person first, your custom size banner is made to order, and a courier brings it to you with email tracking. Questions along the way? The question box on this page reaches a person.

Can I check the cost before I order?

It starts at £32.85, the cheapest combination, and changes as you pick options. The price you see is the price you pay at checkout. Goods worth £100 or more travel free to a UK mainland address; below that, delivery is a flat £7.95 for the whole order.

Do you check the design I upload?

Every upload is looked at by a person first, and nothing is printed until it passes. If anything needs fixing on your custom size banner order, we tell you before it is made. Paid help is there too: a clean layout from your text and logo (£15), a design from your brief (£35) or a logo redraw (£30), each with one first draft and two rounds of changes.

Will the price go up when I reach the checkout?

No. The figure on the page is the one you pay at checkout. The £32.85 starting price for your custom size banner order is the full price of the goods. Spend £100 on goods (design fees are not counted) and UK mainland delivery is free; otherwise it is £7.95 once.

What is the turnaround on my custom size banner order?

On Standard it is made and handed to the courier within 4 working days; Express shortens that to 2 working days, Saver stretches it to 6 working days for less. The clock starts once your order is placed and the file is confirmed. Spend £100 on goods (design fees are not counted) and UK mainland delivery is free; otherwise it is £7.95 once.

Asked by buyers

How cheaply can I get hold of Custom Size Banners?

Picked the way the page first loads, with 1219 × 610 mm and 400gsm PVC-free banner, Custom Size Banners come to £32.85. Any other mix of options, a faster turnaround included, gets its own price the moment you choose it, and that figure is what you pay at checkout. Only delivery is left to add. On its own the opening price of £32.85 would add £7.95 for mainland delivery; reach £100 of goods and that goes to zero.

Is delivery extra on top of the price of Custom Size Banners?

Send it to a UK mainland address for a flat £7.95, or for free when the goods in the basket add up to £100 or more after discounts; artwork and design charges do not count towards that. An order of just this at the opening price of £32.85 is under £100, so it pays the £7.95. We price delivery first for Northern Ireland and for the Isle of Wight, the Channel Islands, Scilly, the Scottish islands and the Isle of Man; Highland addresses on the mainland just pay £10 extra, one time per order.

Which turnaround speeds can I choose for Custom Size Banners?

Allow 6 working days on Saver, 4 on Standard or 2 on Express before Custom Size Banners are handed to the courier, based on the options the page opens with. Weekends and bank holidays are not counted, and nothing starts until the order is paid and the artwork is confirmed. Pick another size or material and the days beside each speed update, sometimes by a day. After it leaves us, the courier normally delivers in one to three working days and you get the tracking link by email.

I am making my own design. How do I lay out the file for these banners?

Build the page at the exact size you are ordering, or at a scale such as 1:10 if the file would be huge, and carry the background colour or picture all the way out to the edges. Words and logos belong 50 mm or more inside every edge. The hem is folded back there and the eyelet holes go through close to the border. Somewhere between 100 and 150 dpi at full size is plenty, since a banner is read from a few steps back. Designing online instead? The editor marks where the eyelets and the safe zone are. If you have no file, you can build the design for these banners in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.

Which artwork services are offered with Custom Size Banners?

Several routes, all chosen under Artwork on this page. Send your own finished file (no charge), we set your words and logo on a tidy layout, called typesetting (£15), we design it from your brief (£35), we redraw a blurry or low quality logo as sharp vector art (£30) or we create a brand new logo (£50). Typesetting and design from a brief each come with one first draft and two rounds of changes. The fee is the same whatever quantity you order and shows separately in the basket. There is also a free online designer if you want to build it yourself. On its opening option, Custom Size Banners leaves us after 6 working days on Saver.

Is the online designer free, and how do I use it?

Pick a starting layout, swap in your own words, logo and pictures, and move things around until it looks right. While you work, the tool flags sample text you forgot to change, small text, items outside the safe area and blurry images, before you can finish. It is free to use and the on-screen watermark does not print. What you see is what we print. Make the artwork for these banners the same size as the one you order, such as 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm). Before delivery, these banners cost from £32.85.

Which is the smallest and which the biggest banner I can order here?

The table has 7 sizes. At the small end, 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) costs from £32.85; at the top, 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm) costs from £155.45. Any other width and height inside the limits on the page can be typed in too. Each figure is for the cheapest set of options at that size. Unsure? Measure where it will go and check the view from the spot people will stand.

We are not sure how big to go. Which banner size is right for us?

Two numbers decide it: the space you are filling, and the distance people will read it from. At 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm), the smallest option here sits neatly on a stall, a doorway or one section of railing. At 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm), the biggest can stretch along a playing field fence or across the front of a building and still be read from far off. Nothing quite right? Measurements of your own can be typed in on this page.

Does rain get through these banners?

It keeps the weather out: 440gsm PVC is waterproof banner vinyl built for use outside. Its life outdoors comes down to exposure. Strong sun and gusty wind age it faster, while hemming, metal rings and a fixing in every hole keep it in good shape for longer. For a very windy spot, such as an open fence line or scaffold, choose mesh so the wind can pass through. For these banners, the material can be 440gsm PVC banner, hemmed, eyelets; or 260gsm mesh banner; or 400gsm PVC-free banner.

How do I hang these banners so the result looks tidy?

Start with the four corners so the banner hangs straight, then fill in along the top and bottom, using every eyelet. Tighten each tie until the slack is gone and stop there, so the banner is not stretched. Cable ties, bungee cords or rope all do the job. On an exposed railing, bungees stretch slightly when a gust hits, which takes the shock off solid PVC. Have a look after the first breezy day and swap any tie that has broken. For these banners, the material can be 440gsm PVC banner, hemmed, eyelets; or 260gsm mesh banner; or 400gsm PVC-free banner.

I am not a business. Can I buy just one of these banners?

Of course. Anyone can order, with no trade account and no minimum beyond one. Prices for Custom Size Banners begin at £32.85, checkout works without an account and you pay by card. Parents, clubs, churches and small shops order single items all the time. On its own the opening price of £32.85 would add £7.95 for mainland delivery; reach £100 of goods and that goes to zero.

And the largest banner, 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm): how much is that one?

From £155.45, with the cheapest settings and the Saver service. That clears the £100 mark on its own, so UK mainland delivery costs nothing. Select it on the page and swap materials, finishes and speed to watch how the figure moves. Before delivery, these banners cost from £32.85.

Could you price an 8 ft × 3 ft (2438 × 914 mm) banner for me?

From £67.49, with the cheapest settings and the Saver service. Add £7.95 for UK mainland delivery, or nothing at all once the goods reach £100. Select it on the page and swap materials, finishes and speed to watch how the figure moves. Before delivery, these banners cost from £32.85.

How can a small charity keep the cost of these banners down?

Three things help most: a modest size, 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) at £32.85; the Saver option, which costs least and needs 6 working days; and wording without a date, so it can be used again. Making the design yourself on screen is free. Delivery is free once the goods reach £100, so a few groups sharing one order can save the £7.95.

I need several banners, some in different sizes. How do I buy them?

Each price on the page is for a single banner in the size and material chosen. Put the number you want in the box beside Add to basket and the total multiplies. For a different size or material, add it as a separate line; the basket keeps them apart. An artwork fee is charged once per line, whatever the quantity, and choosing to reuse the artwork from another item in your basket costs nothing more. Very large runs can go through Get a quote. Before delivery, these banners cost from £32.85.

Could the total go up after I reach the checkout?

No surprises: what the page shows for these banners is the goods figure you pay at checkout. Delivery is the one extra, £7.95 to a UK mainland address, and it drops away when the goods reach £100 after discounts. Paid artwork help shows up as its own basket line, so you can check each amount before paying. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each banner is made to order for you. Sizes for these banners go from 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) at the small end to 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm), 7 in all.

Do you send to Northern Ireland or the islands?

Yes, anywhere in the UK, though the price differs by area. A Highlands postcode on the mainland pays the usual rate plus a single £10 for the order, and that £10 still applies when the rest of the delivery is free. Northern Ireland gets a price worked out first, as do the Isle of Wight, the Channel Islands, Scilly, the Scottish islands and the Isle of Man: send your postcode through our Get a quote page or the Contact page. We cannot send anything outside the UK. Before delivery, these banners cost from £32.85.

Our event is close. Can Custom Size Banners be rushed?

Yes. Choose Express and Custom Size Banners can be on the way in 2 working days on the opening option, for £43.80, where Saver is £32.85 and takes 6 days. Then give the courier one to three working days, and send the artwork with the order, because the clock does not run until the file is sorted. If the date is really tight, message us on the Contact page before paying and we will tell you honestly.

Will anyone look at my file before it is printed?

Yes, a real person on our team opens every uploaded file and checks the size, the bleed and the resolution. If something is off, you hear from us before anything is made. Designs made in the online designer are printed exactly as they looked on screen. We print what you send, though, so read the spelling, numbers and dates yourself as well. Making starts when the order and the file are both confirmed. Sizes for these banners go from 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) at the small end to 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm), 7 in all.

Can I send a Word or Canva file for Custom Size Banners?

Word, PowerPoint and Canva are a fair place to start, but export a high quality PDF from them before uploading. Our first choice is always a PDF at the ordered size with fonts embedded or outlined, followed by AI, EPS or SVG, then high resolution JPG, PNG or TIFF. You can add three files, each up to 25 MB, on this page, or upload them after ordering from the email we send. Make the artwork for these banners the same size as the one you order, such as 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm).

How many pixels does a photo need to print well on these banners?

Big items seen from a distance only need 100 to 150 dpi at full size. So a 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm) layout wants about 11,811 by 7,874 pixels. Keep lettering and logos as vectors if you can. An image copied off a web page or a social post rarely has enough pixels; if yours looks likely to print soft, our file check flags it. Sizes for these banners go from 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) at the small end to 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm), 7 in all.

How tall do the letters need to be so people can read these banners from a distance?

Take 6 ft × 3 ft (1829 × 914 mm) as an example. Leave 50 mm clear on every side and the text area is about 814 mm high. Capitals 240 mm tall can be picked out at around 29 m, because sign makers reckon every 25 mm of letter height carries roughly 3 m. A few short, heavy words in a colour that stands out from the background travel further than a long line squeezed in. Make the artwork for these banners the same size as the one you order, such as 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm).

I am not a designer. What if the file I send turns out to be unusable?

That is why a person looks at every upload before anything is printed. Typical snags are a document at the wrong size, missing bleed, blurry photos and words sitting too near the trim. If we spot one, we explain what to change and you send a fresh file. Or hand it over to us: for £15 our typesetting places your wording and logo on a neat layout, with one first draft and two rounds of changes. Sizes for these banners go from 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) at the small end to 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm), 7 in all.

Someone else is putting our file together. How does it reach you?

Easiest route: they send the finished file to whoever placed the order, and it gets uploaded after ordering. Up to 3 files of 25 MB each are fine. They can also reach us through the Contact page, as long as they quote your order number so it lands on the right job. Production waits for the checked file, so a late file means a later dispatch date. If you have no file, you can build the design for these banners in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering. On its opening option, Custom Size Banners leaves us after 6 working days on Saver.

Once I finish designing these banners online, is the file mine to keep?

Two ways. Buy the file on its own: finish your design and pay £9.99 for the print-ready PDF, though you give up the right to cancel as soon as you start downloading it. Or order printing, and a full resolution PDF of the design travels with the order, waiting for you in your confirmation email and under My Account once you have paid. Make the artwork for these banners the same size as the one you order, such as 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm). Nothing is printed ahead of time: each banner is made to order for you.

Is PVC-free banner material any good, and when should I use it?

PVC-free is a 400gsm material with no PVC in it at all. It prints in the same full colour and is well suited to indoor displays, shops, exhibitions and short-term jobs. If it is going outside for a long time, or somewhere with a lot of wind, the 440gsm PVC or mesh stands up better. Both are priced on the page, so you can check the same size in each material before you decide. For these banners, the material can be 440gsm PVC banner, hemmed, eyelets; or 260gsm mesh banner; or 400gsm PVC-free banner.

Can these banners be made to my own measurements?

Yes. Any width between 300 and 5000 mm and any height between 300 and 3000 mm can be entered, and the total changes as you type. For something larger, or a shaped banner, ask us for a price. Sizes for these banners go from 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) at the small end to 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm), 7 in all.

Do mechanics and garages buy Custom Size Banners from you?

Yes: Custom Size Banners sit in our Mechanics & Garages section, next to other things mechanics and garages buy for garages, forecourts and service bays. Prices begin at £32.85. 7 sizes are listed, starting at 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm). The material choices are 440gsm PVC banner, hemmed, eyelets; 260gsm mesh banner; or 400gsm PVC-free banner. Also in that section: NCR Pads and Advertising Banners. One basket can hold the lot, and delivery is free once the goods reach £100.

Would these banners look right inside a hall or a shop?

Yes. PVC hangs flat and the print comes out crisp, so it suits school halls, church halls, receptions, stage fronts and indoor events. There is also a 400gsm PVC-free material on this product, a good pick for inside if you would rather avoid PVC. Inside you can skip the ties altogether. Hang it by the eyelets from hooks or a length of cord, or use hanging strips that peel off cleanly. You will also find these banners in our Mechanics & Garages section. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each banner is made to order for you.

I run a small shop. Would these banners work on the front of it?

A cafe, salon, market stall or corner shop can put these banners to good use out front. A PVC banner on the fascia or railings is a fast way to shout about an opening or an offer. For scale, 8 ft × 3 ft (2438 × 914 mm) is £67.49. Large or lit signs may need advertisement consent from the council, and your landlord may have a say.

We have a school fair coming up. Would these banners be suitable?

Yes. Tie them to railings, a fence or a gazebo, or stand them on an easel. If you are outside and the wind picks up, check the fixings again during the day. Leave time for making and delivery before the date of the fair. You will also find these banners in our Mechanics & Garages section.

Can a club banner go up every weekend and come down again?

It can. Club secretaries often leave the season and dates off so one banner covers every home fixture. Tie every eyelet on the rail, take it down after the final whistle, let it dry if it has rained and roll it with the print facing out. Being mesh, it lets gusts through, so the ties take less strain. You will also find these banners in our Mechanics & Garages section.

Could we put these banners up on a building site or around works?

Short term or in a sheltered spot, a banner is fine. For weeks on open fencing, switch to mesh, which lets the wind through. Whoever puts them up should tie off every fixing point firmly and check again once the wind has been blowing. You will also find these banners in our Mechanics & Garages section.

Our spot gets windy. Is a PVC banner going to cope?

Think of solid PVC stretched along open fencing as a sail. Every gust presses on the whole sheet, and all that force ends up in the eyelets and the ties. So use every eyelet, pull it firm without stretching it, look at the ties again after the first blustery spell, and bring it in if a storm is on the way. If it has to stay up for weeks somewhere exposed, mesh is the better buy because much of the wind blows through it. For these banners, the material can be 440gsm PVC banner, hemmed, eyelets; or 260gsm mesh banner; or 400gsm PVC-free banner.

How should I keep these banners between uses?

Make sure it is bone dry and clean, then roll it up loosely with the print on the outside, round a cardboard tube if one is handy. Try not to fold it, because sharp folds leave creases and the ink can crack along them. Snip off old cable ties before rolling so they do not press marks into the print, and store the roll in a dry cupboard well clear of radiators. For these banners, the material can be 440gsm PVC banner, hemmed, eyelets; or 260gsm mesh banner; or 400gsm PVC-free banner.

Is it legal to hang these banners on a fence or building I do not own?

Only with the owner's say-so, so ask the landowner or building owner before anything goes up. In England, outdoor banners are adverts in the eyes of the 2007 Control of Advertisements Regulations. Plenty of temporary banners need no application, but the size, the location and how long it is left up all count. Your local council can tell you if you are in doubt. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland each have similar rules of their own. For these banners, the material can be 440gsm PVC banner, hemmed, eyelets; or 260gsm mesh banner; or 400gsm PVC-free banner.

I am not sure which options to pick for these banners. Can someone advise me?

Yes. Type your question into the box on this page and a real person replies. Mention where the banner will be used, how long you need it to last and the date you need it by. Answered questions may be shown on the page for other buyers, so leave personal details out of it. Private questions can go through the Contact page, and anything the options here cannot price can go through the Get a quote page. Sizes for these banners go from 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) at the small end to 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm), 7 in all.

I have spotted a typo after paying. Can it be fixed?

Tell us quickly through the Contact page, quoting your order number. Before production starts we can take a corrected file, or cancel and refund the whole order. After that it cannot be changed. A print that matches your finished design or the file you sent is not a fault, so it pays to read every word and number before you order. Sizes for these banners go from 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) at the small end to 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm), 7 in all.

We have several sponsors for our charity event. Can their logos all go on these banners?

Yes. Line the logos up along the bottom or in a row, keep them all a similar size so nobody feels left out, and hold them 50 mm in from the edges. Short of time? Our typesetting service (£15) or a design worked up from your notes (£35) can put it together for you, with one first draft and two rounds of changes. If a sponsor only has a blurry logo, we can rebuild it for £30. If you have no file, you can build the design for these banners in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.

I sell at a weekly market. Which banner fits along the front of a stall?

Look at the long, shallow sizes: 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) from £32.85 sit well along a table front or the top rail of a gazebo. Measure the width of your stall first, then tie through the eyelets to the frame. Put your stall name in big letters and one line about what you sell; that is what shoppers take in as they walk past.
