Letterheads & Compliment Slips (letterheads and compliment slip printing)

Why paper still matters

An accountant sends year-end figures. A builder posts a written quote for a loft conversion. A charity thanks a donor. A small online shop drops a note into every parcel. In each case the paper arrives before any conversation does, and a proper letterhead or slip says "real business" in a way a plain sheet from the printer tray doesn't. Letterheads and compliment slip printing keeps every page that leaves your office looking like it came from the same place.

The three products in letterheads and compliment slip printing

  • For the first page of anything: Letterheads, A4 (210 × 297 mm), with your logo, address, phone and company details.
  • For the parcel or the returned document: Compliment Slips, DL (99 × 210 mm), when a whole letter is overkill.
  • For page two onwards: A4 Continuation Sheets, printed on the front or supplied blank on the same paper, so a long letter feels like one piece.

All three share the same papers, so a set ordered together matches. One checkout, one delivery.

Paper weights for letterheads and compliment slip printing

90gsm

Normal office weight. The right choice if your letterheads go through a desktop printer or copier every day.

120gsm

Noticeably firmer in the hand. Good for quotes and letters going to customers.

170gsm

Heavy and stiff. For certificates, formal letters, and slips that stand up in a presentation pack. Check your office printer's paper weight limit before ordering this one for letterheads.

The paper is uncoated, so it happily takes pen and ink when you sign. Printing on both sides lets you add terms and conditions or a list of branches on the back.

Sizes and quantities for letterheads and compliment slip printing

Letterheads and continuation sheets are A4; slips are DL. Every product comes in 100, 250, 500, 1,000, 2,500, 5,000 or 10,000. Live prices for popular options are in the size table near the top of the page.

Setting up the artwork

  • Send a print-ready PDF at finished size with 3 mm bleed, and keep words 3 mm inside the trim.
  • Leave a big clear area for the letter itself.
  • Using window envelopes? Leave the address position clear so it lines up with the window.
  • Use the same logo file and colours across all three pieces, or your letterheads and compliment slip printing won't quite match.

Upload a print-ready file, lay it out in the free online designer, or book our paid artwork service (typesetting from your text, full design from a brief, or a logo redraw), which includes 1 design and 2 rounds of changes. A real person checks every uploaded file for free. See the artwork guidelines.

Timing, delivery and the rest of the set

Each product page shows its own production days for saver, standard and express. All letterheads and compliment slip printing is made to order and dispatched from the UK. UK mainland delivery is £7.95, free on orders of £100 or more after discounts (artwork fees excluded). Mainland Highlands add £10. Northern Ireland, the Scottish islands, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isles of Scilly and the Isle of Wight are quoted. See the delivery page. Finish the set with printed envelopes and business cards, so your letterheads and compliment slip printing matches everything else you hand over.

Letterheads & Compliment Slips: questions answered

What paper do you use for letterheads?

A smooth white uncoated paper, in three weights: 90gsm, 120gsm or 170gsm. It is easy to sign in pen. The lightest is everyday office weight, 120gsm feels a little more substantial, and 170gsm is noticeably heavy.

Do I need continuation sheets as well?

They are for page two onwards of a long letter. Usually they carry a smaller logo, or no branding at all, so the letter still looks tidy. You can order them printed on the front or left blank, on the same paper as your letterheads.

Will the letterheads go through our office printer?

Most office printers happily take 90gsm, and many take 120gsm. Before choosing 170gsm, look up the heaviest paper your printer accepts, because the thicker sheet may not feed.

Can I lay out my letterhead in your online designer?

Yes. Letterheads, compliment slips and continuation sheets can all be put together in the online designer, and the printed result matches what you see on screen. You can also send in your own print-ready PDF.

Does anyone look at my letterhead file?

A real person looks over every uploaded file for resolution, size and bleed. If you use the online designer instead, what you sign off on screen is exactly what gets printed. Paid design comes with one first draft and two rounds of changes.

How soon can letterheads be ready?

Saver, standard and express times are listed on each product page in working days until the job leaves us, counted from artwork confirmation. Mainland delivery costs £7.95, or nothing once goods reach £100 after discounts. Mainland Scottish Highlands add £10, while islands and Northern Ireland are quoted.
