Overview

Metallic foil flyer printing at FatPrint, in short: think launch night for a new bar, a boutique's VIP evening, or a salon's price card for bridal packages. These are moments where a plain flyer undersells you. A strip of foil across a heading or a logo makes people hold on to it.

Seven foils, seven moods

  • Gold and rose gold. Weddings, beauty, celebration.
  • Silver. Cool and modern, lovely on dark backgrounds.
  • Copper. Warm and a bit rustic, good for food and drink.
  • Red. Loud. Use it for one word, like OPEN or SALE.
  • Holographic. Shifts colour as it moves. Party and nightlife stuff.
  • White pearl. Subtle shimmer, best on darker card designs.

Foil sits on the front only, so put the headline or logo there and use the back for details.

Metallic foil flyer printing: card, finish and size

Choose 350gsm uncoated card for a natural, papery feel, or 350gsm silk for a smooth surface and brighter print. Soft touch lamination goes on the front, or on both sides if the flyer will be handled a lot. Front-only leaves the back easier to write on.

Sizes are A6 (105 × 148 mm), DL (99 × 210 mm), 148 × 148 mm square and A5 (148 × 210 mm). Print full colour on one side or both.

Setting up the foil

Send the normal print-ready PDF with 3 mm bleed, and a second layer in solid black only, marking exactly where the foil goes. Keep foil shapes bold; very thin lines and tiny text can fill in. No file? The free online designer and our paid artwork service are both options. A person checks every upload for free, and the artwork guidelines explain layers and bleed.

Quantities, timing and delivery

Order 25, 50, 100, 250, 500, 1,000, 2,500 or 5,000. Metallic foil flyer printing is made to order and dispatched from the UK: Express from 5 working days, Standard from 7, Saver from 10, once your order and artwork are confirmed. UK mainland delivery is £7.95, free on orders of £100 or more after discounts; see delivery. Plainer options are in flyers and leaflets.

Questions

Quick answers about metallic foil flyer printing.

What is the turnaround on my metallic foil flyer order?

Express gets it out in 5 working days, Standard ships after 7 working days and Saver, the lowest price, after 10 working days. The clock starts once your order is placed and the file is confirmed. Postage to the UK mainland is £7.95 per basket, not per item, and free when your goods total £100 or more. Highlands mainland addresses add £10; Northern Ireland and the islands are quoted first.

I have designed the flyer. How do I show you which parts should be foiled?

Send your print-ready PDF with 3 mm bleed, and add a separate layer that uses solid black only for the foil areas. Whatever is black on that layer gets foil, and nothing else does.

Does a person look at my metallic foil flyer artwork?

Yes. Before your metallic foil flyer goes to print, someone checks resolution, size and bleed. Paid help is there too: a clean layout from your text and logo (£15), a design from your brief (£35) or a logo redraw (£30), each with one first draft and two rounds of changes.

What metallic colours are there for foil flyers?

Seven in total. The classic metals are gold, silver and copper, joined by rose gold, a red, a white pearl and a rainbow-effect holographic. Each flyer carries one foil colour, on the front.

Could the back of my flyer have foil as well as the front?

Foil only goes on the front. You can still choose printing on both sides, so the back carries your design, just without any foil.

What finish do foil flyers have?

Soft touch lamination, on the front alone or on both sides. It feels velvety and gives the foil a quiet, low-shine background to stand out against.

Should I choose the uncoated or the silk card for a foil flyer?

Both weigh 350gsm. Uncoated feels natural, a bit like good paper. Silk is smooth with a slight sheen, so printed colours around the foil stay crisp.

Asked by buyers

How much will Metallic Foil Flyers set me back?

£58.31 is where Metallic Foil Flyers start, set up as A6 · 105 × 148 mm, 350gsm silk card and Gold foil on the Saver speed. Change the size, material, extras, quantity or speed and the total on the page moves straight away. The price you see is the price you pay at checkout, with delivery the only thing that can be added. Delivery anywhere on the UK mainland is £7.95 an order, and it costs nothing once the goods come to £100 or more after any discount code (design and artwork fees are not counted).

Is delivery ever free?

It is £7.95 for the whole order, not per item, and free once the goods reach £100 after any discount code; design or artwork charges are left out of that £100. On its own the opening price of £58.31 would add £7.95 for mainland delivery; reach £100 of goods and that goes to zero. A mainland Highlands postcode puts a single £10 on the order. Northern Ireland has its delivery priced before you pay, and so do the Channel Islands, the Scottish islands, Scilly, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man.

If I buy Metallic Foil Flyers today, when will they leave you?

As the page first opens, the speeds for Metallic Foil Flyers are Express 5 working days, Standard 7 and Saver 10, counting Monday to Friday and skipping bank holidays. The count begins once we have your order and a file ready to print. A bigger size or a different material can move it by a day either way; each speed shows its own days as you choose. Tracking arrives by email on the day it ships, and the courier usually takes one to three working days from there.

I cannot design at all. Can someone make the artwork for me?

Yes. When you choose the Artwork option you can pick from: send your own finished file (no charge), we set your words and logo on a tidy layout, called typesetting (£15), we design it from your brief (£35), we redraw a blurry or low quality logo as sharp vector art (£30) or we create a brand new logo (£50). Each fee is fixed, sits as its own line in your basket and covers every item on that line. Typesetting and design from a brief each come with one first draft and two rounds of changes. For these flyers, the material can be 350gsm silk card or 350gsm uncoated card.

Thin or thick: what paper weight suits these flyers?

Weights here run from 350gsm to 350gsm. 250gsm or heavier starts to feel like card, which suits menus, price lists and anything left standing on a counter. For these flyers, the material can be 350gsm silk card or 350gsm uncoated card.

Which is the smallest and which the biggest flyer I can order here?

Smallest: A6 (105 × 148 mm), from £58.31. Biggest: A5 (148 × 210 mm), from £75.83. 2 more are listed in between, each priced on the cheapest options. Not sure which? Mark the space out with tape or string first and stand back to look.

Could the total go up after I reach the checkout?

The only thing that can join the goods price is delivery; the price you see is the price you pay at checkout. Delivery anywhere on the UK mainland is £7.95 an order, and it costs nothing once the goods come to £100 or more after any discount code (design and artwork fees are not counted). If you pick a paid design option, it sits in the basket as a separate line with its own fee, so every penny is listed before you pay. Sizes for these flyers go from A6 (105 × 148 mm) at the small end to A5 (148 × 210 mm), 4 in all.

I am never sure how many to print. How many flyers is sensible?

Print what you will get through before anything on it goes stale, such as a phone number, a price or an offer. You can order anything between 25 and 5,000. Try two or three amounts on this page and work out the cost per flyer. Testing a new design? A smaller first batch lets you see how it goes before a bigger run. Before delivery, these flyers cost from £58.31.

And the largest flyer, A5 (148 × 210 mm): how much is that one?

From £75.83 for 25, with the cheapest settings and the Saver service. Add £7.95 for UK mainland delivery, or nothing at all once the goods reach £100. Select it on the page and swap materials, finishes and speed to watch how the figure moves. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each flyer is made to order for you.

Is there a minimum quantity for these flyers?

The smallest order is 25 and the largest listed is 5000; the list starts 25, 50, 100, 250, 500 and 1000 and carries on from there. The price on the page covers every item in that quantity. To compare two quantities fairly, split each total by its number. A bigger run than the list allows can be priced separately on our Get a quote page. Sizes for these flyers go from A6 (105 × 148 mm) at the small end to A5 (148 × 210 mm), 4 in all.

How much does a 148 × 148 mm flyer cost?

From £75.83 for 25, with the cheapest settings and the Saver service. Add £7.95 for UK mainland delivery, or nothing at all once the goods reach £100. Select it on the page and swap materials, finishes and speed to watch how the figure moves. Sizes for these flyers go from A6 (105 × 148 mm) at the small end to A5 (148 × 210 mm), 4 in all.

I live in the Scottish Highlands. Will Metallic Foil Flyers cost more to send?

The whole UK is covered. Outside it, sadly, we cannot deliver. Mainland addresses in the Highlands pay one extra £10 on the order, even when delivery would otherwise be free. For Northern Ireland, and for the Channel Islands, the Scottish islands, Scilly, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man, we tell you the delivery cost before you pay, so message us your postcode on the Contact page or our Get a quote page. Choose Saver and these flyers leave us after 10 working days; Express brings that down to 5.

Is there a quicker turnaround for these flyers?

Work back from the day you need them. Express takes 5 working days to get Metallic Foil Flyers out, against 10 on Saver, and costs £67.52 on the opening option rather than £58.31. Add up to three working days for the courier, plus any time you need to finish the file. Cutting it fine? Put your date in the question box before you order.

Will anyone look at my file before it is printed?

Every file gets a human check for size, bleed and resolution, and we contact you about any problem before printing. Nobody can know your details better than you, so double-check names, numbers and dates: we print what is supplied, and work begins once the order and file are confirmed. Sizes for these flyers go from A6 (105 × 148 mm) at the small end to A5 (148 × 210 mm), 4 in all.

Our wording is not finished yet. Can I still pay now and send it later?

Yes. Pay now and add the file afterwards: uploading after ordering is allowed, so you do not have to wait for the final version. If a volunteer, friend or designer is preparing it, they can send the finished file to you to upload, or get in touch through our Contact page quoting your order number. Nothing goes to print until the file arrives and has been checked, so if there is a date to hit, get the artwork over as soon as you can. Sizes for these flyers go from A6 (105 × 148 mm) at the small end to A5 (148 × 210 mm), 4 in all.

I am not a designer. What if the file I send turns out to be unusable?

You will not be left guessing. Each uploaded file is opened and looked over by a member of the team, and problems such as low-resolution pictures, no bleed or the wrong page size are sent back to you to fix before printing. If fixing it sounds like a chore, choose typesetting for £15: we lay out your text and logo, show you a first draft, then make up to two rounds of changes. For these flyers, the material can be 350gsm silk card or 350gsm uncoated card.

Which file formats can I upload?

A PDF made at the size you ordered works best, with the fonts embedded or turned into outlines. AI, EPS and SVG are fine too, as are high resolution JPG, PNG or TIFF images. Word, PowerPoint or Canva designs can be used, but save them out as a full quality PDF where you can. Attach up to 3 files of up to 25 MB each on the product page, or order first and send them afterwards; we email you a link. Sizes for these flyers go from A6 (105 × 148 mm) at the small end to A5 (148 × 210 mm), 4 in all.

How many pixels does a photo need to print well on these flyers?

Roughly 1,748 pixels across and 2,480 down for an A5 (148 × 210 mm) design, which is 300 dpi. Things read at arm's length need that 300 dpi at full size to stay crisp. Text and logos are safest as vector art, which never goes fuzzy. Pictures saved from a website or social media are nearly always too small, and our file check will point out any that could print blurred.

Which lamination would you suggest for Metallic Foil Flyers?

A laminate is a very thin clear layer sealed over the print. Gloss gives richer, punchier colour; matt takes the shine away so photos and text are easier to read under lights; soft touch feels smooth, almost like velvet. Whichever you pick, the surface copes better with scuffs. For Metallic Foil Flyers the list runs soft touch, both sides; or soft touch, front. Try each one on the page: the figure changes as you click, so the cost of every choice is clear.

Can you explain the printed setting for Metallic Foil Flyers?

It sets which sides of the item get printed. For Metallic Foil Flyers the list runs both sides or front only. Try each one on the page: the figure changes as you click, so the cost of every choice is clear.

Paper on Metallic Foil Flyers: how do the choices differ?

The gsm figure is the weight of the paper in grams for each square metre, so a bigger number means a thicker, firmer sheet. Silk and gloss have a coating that keeps print sharp and bright, while uncoated sheets take a pen more easily. For Metallic Foil Flyers the list runs 350gsm silk card or 350gsm uncoated card. Try each one on the page: the figure changes as you click, so the cost of every choice is clear.

How do I pick the right foil for Metallic Foil Flyers?

Foil is a shiny metallic layer pressed onto selected parts of the design, usually a logo or a name that you want to glint. For Metallic Foil Flyers the list runs white pearl foil, holographic foil, Red foil, copper foil, rose gold foil, silver foil or Gold foil. Try each one on the page: the figure changes as you click, so the cost of every choice is clear.

Do Metallic Foil Flyers have a laminate?

In short, the finish / lamination line for Metallic Foil Flyers reads: Soft touch, front or both sides. Anything unusual in mind? Send the details through our quote form and someone will reply. The Specifications tab lists every other detail.

I run a small cafe. Could I print our takeaway menu as a flyer?

It works well for that. Pick a card-like weight of 250gsm or more so the menu survives the counter, and print on both sides to fit the dishes, prices, opening times and contact details. Menu-friendly sizes on this page: DL or A5. Keep the run modest if your prices change often. For these flyers, the material can be 350gsm silk card or 350gsm uncoated card.

We need a few different designs. Do they each need their own order?

One checkout covers the lot. Add a basket line for every design, attach the right file to each, then pay once. You pay a single delivery charge of £7.95 for the whole order, or nothing if the goods add up to £100 or more. Repeating one design on another line? Choose the artwork choice that points to a file already in the basket, and no second design fee is charged. Sizes for these flyers go from A6 (105 × 148 mm) at the small end to A5 (148 × 210 mm), 4 in all.

Next year we will want the same flyer again. Is reordering easy?

Yes. Treat it as a fresh order of the same item with the same settings, and attach the file you used last time. Keep a copy of the print file in a shared folder so whoever orders next year can find it. Change any details that have moved on, such as a new email address or this year's date, before uploading. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each flyer is made to order for you.

Do I have to register before I can buy?

No. Guest checkout is fine, and card payments go through Stripe, so a debit card or a credit card both work. If you choose to open an account while checking out, My Account keeps your past orders. Guest or not, you get an email confirming the order and another with tracking once it is sent. Sizes for these flyers go from A6 (105 × 148 mm) at the small end to A5 (148 × 210 mm), 4 in all.

Can a volunteer order without setting up an account?

Yes. There is a guest checkout, so a one-off order does not need a login. Payment is by debit or credit card, processed by Stripe. The confirmation email that follows lists everything bought and what was paid, which helps when you claim the money back from the group. What the page shows is what the group pays, plus any delivery. Sizes for these flyers go from A6 (105 × 148 mm) at the small end to A5 (148 × 210 mm), 4 in all.

I am not sure which options to pick for these flyers. Can someone advise me?

Of course. Tell us three things: where these flyers will go, whether it is for one day or for years, and your deadline. Send that through the question box on this page or the Contact page, and a member of the team will suggest options. If what you need is outside the options listed, the Get a quote page lets you describe it and get a price. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each flyer is made to order for you.

Our treasurer needs a receipt for the accounts. What do we get?

Every order gets a confirmation email listing what was bought, the options chosen and the amount paid, and a club, school or small firm can file that as its record of payment. What you pay for these flyers is the price shown on the page plus any delivery charge, nothing more. If your accounts need a particular kind of invoice, ask through the Contact page before you order and we will tell you what we can provide. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each flyer is made to order for you.

Can I send these flyers back if I no longer need them?

Not for a change of mind. These flyers are made for your order, and goods made to your specification fall outside the 14-day cancellation right (reg. 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). You can still cancel and get all your money back before production begins. Anything faulty, damaged or wrong is covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and we reprint it or refund you. Before delivery, these flyers cost from £58.31.

Our club needs a big batch of flyers, or an odd size. Can you price it?

Our Get a quote page is the place, and it also handles delivery to Northern Ireland and the islands. For anything the page cannot do, tell us the size, number, material, date and postcode on Get a quote, add a file if you have one, and we email a price back. Sizes for these flyers go from A6 (105 × 148 mm) at the small end to A5 (148 × 210 mm), 4 in all.

Can the back of these flyers carry different information from the front?

It can. Choose double-sided printing and upload a two-page PDF, with the front as page one and the back as page two. The back is handy for a club's fixtures, a cafe menu, collection times or directions to a venue. Make the artwork for these flyers the same size as the one you order, such as A6 (105 × 148 mm).

I have never ordered printing before. Do I need to know the technical words?

No. A person on our team checks every file for size, bleed and resolution and tells you in plain words if anything needs changing. Or pick typesetting for £15 and we lay out your words and logo for you, with a first draft and two rounds of changes. Sizes for these flyers go from A6 (105 × 148 mm) at the small end to A5 (148 × 210 mm), 4 in all.

Do colours print softer on uncoated, recycled or textured paper?

Yes. Uncoated, textured and recycled stocks absorb more ink, so the result is softer and more matt than on a coated sheet. That quieter look is often the reason people choose them. For the closest match to set brand colours, a silk or coated option is the better bet. For these flyers, the material can be 350gsm silk card or 350gsm uncoated card.

Can these flyers go in the recycling bin afterwards?

Plain paper and card without lamination go in with ordinary paper recycling, so once the event, offer or year is over they can go in the paper bin at home or work. Lamination, foil and plastic make recycling harder, and rules vary from one council to the next, so check what yours accepts before binning those. Recycled versions are available too. For these flyers, the material can be 350gsm silk card or 350gsm uncoated card.

How should we keep these flyers in good condition until we need them?

Flat, dry and dark is the rule. Leave them in their box, away from damp, direct sun and heaters. Damp paper curls and can jam a printer, while sunlight slowly fades the ink. Take a handful at a time and keep the rest boxed. For these flyers, the material can be 350gsm silk card or 350gsm uncoated card.
