Overview
Desk pad printing fixes a small, daily nuisance: scraps of paper get lost. A printed pad with your layout already on it does not, because it lives by the till, the phone or the keyboard. Think of a tile shop with a measure sheet for every customer, a salon with a weekly booking grid, or an office where the meeting notes all look the same.
Pick the paper by the pen you use
- 90gsm smooth white. Light and thin, fine for quick notes and lists that get torn off and binned.
- 120gsm uncoated. No coating, so biros, gel pens and pencils all behave. A good pick for forms people fill in by hand.
- 170gsm smooth white. Heavy and stiff. Use it for a planner that stays on the desk for a week or a sheet you hand to a customer.
Desk pad printing sizes and sheet counts
Four sizes, each in portrait or landscape: DL (99 × 210 mm), A5 (148 × 210 mm), A4 (210 × 297 mm) and A3 (297 × 420 mm). DL is tall and narrow, just right for shopping lists and a column of jobs. A5 sits beside a keyboard. A4 fits a full form. A3 turns into a proper desk planner you can lean on.
Each pad holds 25, 50 or 100 sheets, glued along one edge so pages tear away cleanly. Busy counter? Go for 100. A pad you give away at a trade show? 25 keeps it light.
How many pads
Order 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 or 250 pads. The number is pads, not sheets. One pad to test a layout is fine; a whole office stock costs less each.
Files, timing and getting them to you
Upload a print-ready PDF at your chosen size with 3 mm bleed, lay it out in the free online designer, or use our paid artwork service, which comes with 1 design and 2 rounds of changes. A person checks every uploaded file for free, and the artwork guidelines explain bleed in plain terms.
Your pads are made to order and dispatched from the UK. Express is from 5 working days, Standard from 7 and Saver from 9, once your order and artwork are confirmed. UK mainland delivery is £7.95, free on orders of £100 or more after discounts; the delivery page lists other areas. Notebooks sit alongside desk pad printing in notebooks and desk pads.

Questions
Quick answers about desk pad printing.
How many tear-off sheets does each desk pad have?
It is up to you: a slim pad of 25, a middling 50, or a thick 100. One edge is glued, so each sheet tears away cleanly on its own.
If I order 10 desk pads, do I get 10 pads or 10 sheets?
You get 10 pads. So an order of 10 with 50 sheets each means 10 separate glued pads on your desk, every one holding 50 printed sheets, 500 sheets altogether.
What size should I go for?
DL (99 × 210 mm) is good for lists. A5 (148 × 210 mm) and A4 (210 × 297 mm) take notes, planners and forms, and A3 (297 × 420 mm) makes a big desk planner. Every size comes portrait or landscape. Each size is priced on this page.
We jot phone messages on these. Which paper takes a pen best?
The 120gsm uncoated paper is the easiest to write on with pen or pencil. 90gsm smooth white is normal office weight, and the heavy 170gsm smooth white feels firmer under the pen.
How do I prepare my artwork for my desk pad order?
Set it up as a print-ready PDF at the size you choose with 3 mm bleed round every edge, and keep text 3 mm or more inside the trim. Paid help is there too: a clean layout from your text and logo (£15), a design from your brief (£35) or a logo redraw (£30), each with one first draft and two rounds of changes.
Will you tell me if something is wrong with my file?
We will. Every upload for your desk pad order is checked by a person for resolution, size and bleed, and you hear from us before anything is printed. Paid help is there too: a clean layout from your text and logo (£15), a design from your brief (£35) or a logo redraw (£30), each with one first draft and two rounds of changes.
How long until my desk pad order ships?
On Standard it is made and handed to the courier within 7 working days; Express shortens that to 5 working days, Saver stretches it to 9 working days for less. Postage to the UK mainland is £7.95 per basket, not per item, and free when your goods total £100 or more. Highlands mainland addresses add £10; Northern Ireland and the islands are quoted first.
Asked by buyers
How much will Desk Pads set me back?
£20.60 is where Desk Pads start, set up as DL portrait (99 × 210 mm), 25 sheets and 90gsm smooth white paper on the Saver speed. Change the size, material, extras, quantity or speed and the total on the page moves straight away. The price you see is the price you pay at checkout, with delivery the only thing that can be added. Delivery anywhere on the UK mainland is £7.95 an order, and it costs nothing once the goods come to £100 or more after any discount code (design and artwork fees are not counted).
Is delivery ever free?
It is £7.95 for the whole order, not per item, and free once the goods reach £100 after any discount code; design or artwork charges are left out of that £100. On its own the opening price of £20.60 would add £7.95 for mainland delivery; reach £100 of goods and that goes to zero. A mainland Highlands postcode puts a single £10 on the order. Northern Ireland has its delivery priced before you pay, and so do the Channel Islands, the Scottish islands, Scilly, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man.
If I buy Desk Pads today, when will they leave you?
As the page first opens, the speeds for Desk Pads are Express 5 working days, Standard 7 and Saver 9, counting Monday to Friday and skipping bank holidays. The count begins once we have your order and a file ready to print. A bigger size or a different material can move it by a day either way; each speed shows its own days as you choose. Tracking arrives by email on the day it ships, and the courier usually takes one to three working days from there.
I cannot design at all. Can someone make the artwork for me?
Yes. When you choose the Artwork option you can pick from: send your own finished file (no charge), we set your words and logo on a tidy layout, called typesetting (£15), we design it from your brief (£35), we redraw a blurry or low quality logo as sharp vector art (£30) or we create a brand new logo (£50). Each fee is fixed, sits as its own line in your basket and covers every item on that line. Typesetting and design from a brief each come with one first draft and two rounds of changes. Prefer to do it yourself? The online designer is free to use. For reference, Desk Pads are listed in 8 sizes, the smallest being DL portrait (99 × 210 mm).
Could I lay out these notebooks myself on your website?
Yes. Start the designer from this page, choose a layout to begin with, then drop in your text, logo and photos and drag them where you want. It checks as you go and warns you about leftover sample text, lettering that is too small, anything outside the safe area and images too low in resolution, all before you finish. Designing and previewing costs nothing. The watermark you see on screen is never printed; once you finish, it goes into the basket. Make the artwork for these notebooks the same size as the one you order, such as DL portrait (99 × 210 mm).
How big or small can Desk Pads be?
Smallest: DL portrait (99 × 210 mm), from £20.60. Biggest: A3 landscape (420 × 297 mm), from £42.96. 6 more are listed in between, each priced on the cheapest options. Not sure which? Mark the space out with tape or string first and stand back to look.
Is there a minimum quantity for these notebooks?
The smallest order is 1 and the largest listed is 250; the list starts 1, 2, 5, 10, 25 and 50 and carries on from there. The price on the page covers every item in that quantity. To compare two quantities fairly, split each total by its number. A bigger run than the list allows can be priced separately on our Get a quote page. Before delivery, these notebooks cost from £20.60.
How much for the biggest size, A3 landscape (420 × 297 mm)?
From £42.96, with the cheapest settings and the Saver service. Add £7.95 for UK mainland delivery, or nothing at all once the goods reach £100. Select it on the page and swap materials, finishes and speed to watch how the figure moves. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each notebook is made to order for you.
Could the total go up after I reach the checkout?
The only thing that can join the goods price is delivery; the price you see is the price you pay at checkout. Delivery anywhere on the UK mainland is £7.95 an order, and it costs nothing once the goods come to £100 or more after any discount code (design and artwork fees are not counted). If you pick a paid design option, it sits in the basket as a separate line with its own fee, so every penny is listed before you pay. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each notebook is made to order for you.
Could you price an A4 (210 × 297 mm) notebook for me?
From £27.98, with the cheapest settings and the Saver service. Add £7.95 for UK mainland delivery, or nothing at all once the goods reach £100. Select it on the page and swap materials, finishes and speed to watch how the figure moves. Sizes for these notebooks go from DL portrait (99 × 210 mm) at the small end to A3 landscape (420 × 297 mm), 8 in all.
Can a private person buy a single notebook?
Yes. One is enough, and you do not need a business name or an account to check out. The opening price is £20.60, and any bank card will do. On its own the opening price of £20.60 would add £7.95 for mainland delivery; reach £100 of goods and that goes to zero. A person still checks your file before it is printed, just as for a big order.
I live in the Scottish Highlands. Will Desk Pads cost more to send?
The whole UK is covered. Outside it, sadly, we cannot deliver. Mainland addresses in the Highlands pay one extra £10 on the order, even when delivery would otherwise be free. For Northern Ireland, and for the Channel Islands, the Scottish islands, Scilly, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man, we tell you the delivery cost before you pay, so message us your postcode on the Contact page or our Get a quote page. Choose Saver and these notebooks leave us after 9 working days; Express brings that down to 5.
Is there a quicker turnaround for these notebooks?
Work back from the day you need them. Express takes 5 working days to get Desk Pads out, against 9 on Saver, and costs £23.85 on the opening option rather than £20.60. Add up to three working days for the courier, plus any time you need to finish the file. Cutting it fine? Put your date in the question box before you order.
Will anyone look at my file before it is printed?
Every file gets a human check for size, bleed and resolution, and we contact you about any problem before printing. With the online designer, what you see on screen is what gets printed. Nobody can know your details better than you, so double-check names, numbers and dates: we print what is supplied, and work begins once the order and file are confirmed. Make the artwork for these notebooks the same size as the one you order, such as DL portrait (99 × 210 mm).
Our wording is not finished yet. Can I still pay now and send it later?
Yes. Pay now and add the file afterwards: uploading after ordering is allowed, so you do not have to wait for the final version. If a volunteer, friend or designer is preparing it, they can send the finished file to you to upload, or get in touch through our Contact page quoting your order number. Nothing goes to print until the file arrives and has been checked, so if there is a date to hit, get the artwork over as soon as you can. If you have no file, you can build the design for these notebooks in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.
How many pixels does a photo need to print well on these notebooks?
Roughly 4,961 pixels across and 3,508 down for an A3 landscape (420 × 297 mm) design, which is 300 dpi. Things read at arm's length need that 300 dpi at full size to stay crisp. Text and logos are safest as vector art, which never goes fuzzy. Pictures saved from a website or social media are nearly always too small, and our file check will point out any that could print blurred. Make the artwork for these notebooks the same size as the one you order, such as DL portrait (99 × 210 mm).
I am not a designer. What if the file I send turns out to be unusable?
You will not be left guessing. Each uploaded file is opened and looked over by a member of the team, and problems such as low-resolution pictures, no bleed or the wrong page size are sent back to you to fix before printing. If fixing it sounds like a chore, choose typesetting for £15: we lay out your text and logo, show you a first draft, then make up to two rounds of changes. Sizes for these notebooks go from DL portrait (99 × 210 mm) at the small end to A3 landscape (420 × 297 mm), 8 in all.
Which file formats can I upload?
A PDF made at the size you ordered works best, with the fonts embedded or turned into outlines. AI, EPS and SVG are fine too, as are high resolution JPG, PNG or TIFF images. Word, PowerPoint or Canva designs can be used, but save them out as a full quality PDF where you can. Attach up to 3 files of up to 25 MB each on the product page, or order first and send them afterwards; we email you a link. Make the artwork for these notebooks the same size as the one you order, such as DL portrait (99 × 210 mm).
Once I finish designing these notebooks online, is the file mine to keep?
Yes. Order printing with an online design and a full resolution PDF comes with it; after payment you can download it from your confirmation email or from My Account. Just want the file? Finish the design and buy the print-ready PDF on its own for £9.99. As digital content, it cannot be cancelled once the download begins. Make the artwork for these notebooks the same size as the one you order, such as DL portrait (99 × 210 mm).
Does the paper option I choose make a difference to Desk Pads?
The gsm figure is the weight of the paper in grams for each square metre, so a bigger number means a thicker, firmer sheet. Silk and gloss have a coating that keeps print sharp and bright, while uncoated sheets take a pen more easily. For Desk Pads the list runs 170gsm smooth white paper, 120gsm uncoated or 90gsm smooth white paper. Try each one on the page: the figure changes as you click, so the cost of every choice is clear.
Which sheets per pad would you suggest for Desk Pads?
Choose how many sheets go into each pad. For Desk Pads the list runs 100 sheets, 50 sheets or 25 sheets. Try each one on the page: the figure changes as you click, so the cost of every choice is clear.
Would Desk Pads be useful for mechanics and garages?
For garages, forecourts and service bays, look under Mechanics & Garages in the shop: Desk Pads are listed there. Prices begin at £20.60; 8 sizes are listed, starting at DL portrait (99 × 210 mm); the material choices are 170gsm smooth white paper, 120gsm uncoated or 90gsm smooth white paper. People buying for that kind of work often add Custom Size Banners or A2 Magnetic Signs. Put everything in one order and delivery is free at £100 or more.
Do gas engineers buy Desk Pads from you?
For gas installs and safety checks, look under Gas Engineers in the shop: Desk Pads are listed there. Prices begin at £20.60; 8 sizes are listed, starting at DL portrait (99 × 210 mm); the material choices are 170gsm smooth white paper, 120gsm uncoated or 90gsm smooth white paper. People buying for that kind of work often add Landlord Gas Safety Check Labels or Square Business Cards. Put everything in one order and delivery is free at £100 or more.
I work with air conditioning and refrigeration engineers. Are these notebooks something we could use?
Yes: Desk Pads sit in our Air Con & Refrigeration section, next to other things air conditioning and refrigeration engineers buy for air con and fridge servicing. Prices begin at £20.60. 8 sizes are listed, starting at DL portrait (99 × 210 mm). The material choices are 170gsm smooth white paper, 120gsm uncoated or 90gsm smooth white paper. Also in that section: Postcards and A2 Magnetic Signs. One basket can hold the lot, and delivery is free once the goods reach £100.
How would I decide between Premium A5 Hardcover Notebooks and Desk Pads?
Comparing Desk Pads with Premium A5 Hardcover Notebooks, this is what changes. Opening price: £20.60 on this page and £210.62 on the other. On the Standard service it is 7 working days on this page and 5 on the other. Go by the spot it is going in and how long it needs to last, then open both pages and compare the live totals.
Should I get Desk Pads, or would Self-Inking Company Stamps suit me better?
Set Desk Pads beside Self-Inking Company Stamps and a few things differ. Sizes: 8 on this page, the smallest DL portrait (99 × 210 mm), and 3 on the other, the smallest 36 × 12 mm. Opening price: £20.60 on this page and £15.48 on the other. On the Standard service it is 7 working days on this page and 8 on the other. Go by the spot it is going in and how long it needs to last, then open both pages and compare the live totals.
Where do Desk Pads and Custom A5 Notebooks differ?
Comparing Desk Pads with Custom A5 Notebooks, this is what changes. Opening price: £20.60 on this page and £124.44 on the other. On the Standard service it is 7 working days on this page and 11 on the other. Go by the spot it is going in and how long it needs to last, then open both pages and compare the live totals.
Can I send these notebooks back if I no longer need them?
Not for a change of mind. These notebooks are made for your order, and goods made to your specification fall outside the 14-day cancellation right (reg. 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). You can still cancel and get all your money back before production begins. Anything faulty, damaged or wrong is covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and we reprint it or refund you. Before delivery, these notebooks cost from £20.60.
I am not sure which options to pick for these notebooks. Can someone advise me?
Of course. Tell us three things: where these notebooks will go, whether it is for one day or for years, and your deadline. Send that through the question box on this page or the Contact page, and a member of the team will suggest options. If what you need is outside the options listed, the Get a quote page lets you describe it and get a price. Sizes for these notebooks go from DL portrait (99 × 210 mm) at the small end to A3 landscape (420 × 297 mm), 8 in all.
Do I have to register before I can buy?
No. Guest checkout is fine, and card payments go through Stripe, so a debit card or a credit card both work. If you choose to open an account while checking out, My Account keeps your past orders and the print files of anything you designed online. Guest or not, you get an email confirming the order and another with tracking once it is sent. Before delivery, these notebooks cost from £20.60.
Can I buy Desk Pads and other products in the same basket?
Yes. Different products, sizes and quantities can all sit in one basket, each as its own line with its own options. Delivery is charged once for the whole order, £7.95 to the UK mainland, and it is free when the goods reach £100 after discount codes. If two items share a design, choose the option to reuse artwork from another basket item and there is no second artwork fee. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each notebook is made to order for you.
We need a few different designs. Do they each need their own order?
One checkout covers the lot. Add a basket line for every design, attach the right file to each, then pay once. You pay a single delivery charge of £7.95 for the whole order, or nothing if the goods add up to £100 or more. Repeating one design on another line? Choose the artwork choice that points to a file already in the basket, and no second design fee is charged. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each notebook is made to order for you.
Our treasurer needs a receipt for the accounts. What do we get?
Every order gets a confirmation email listing what was bought, the options chosen and the amount paid, and a club, school or small firm can file that as its record of payment. What you pay for these notebooks is the price shown on the page plus any delivery charge, nothing more. If your accounts need a particular kind of invoice, ask through the Contact page before you order and we will tell you what we can provide. Before delivery, these notebooks cost from £20.60.
Can I swap my file once I have paid?
It depends on timing. Until production begins, a new file can replace the old one, or the order can be cancelled with a full refund; once it has begun, nothing can be changed. Message us straight away on the Contact page with your order number. Items printed exactly as supplied or designed do not count as faulty, so check names, numbers and dates first. Sizes for these notebooks go from DL portrait (99 × 210 mm) at the small end to A3 landscape (420 × 297 mm), 8 in all.
I have never ordered printing before. Do I need to know the technical words?
No. A person on our team checks every file for size, bleed and resolution and tells you in plain words if anything needs changing. The free online designer also warns you about small text and blurry images before you finish. Or pick typesetting for £15 and we lay out your words and logo for you, with a first draft and two rounds of changes. If you have no file, you can build the design for these notebooks in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.
Will my logo colours come out the same as on screen?
Very close, but not always identical. A screen glows, print reflects light, so a small difference is normal. Sending CMYK artwork keeps it nearest; RGB is changed to CMYK before printing and the brightest greens, blues and oranges can look a touch flatter. For an exact brand colour, give us the Pantone reference and we get as close as the material allows. If you have no file, you can build the design for these notebooks in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.
Can I design these notebooks first and show the committee before we pay?
Yes. The online designer is free to use, so you can build the design, look at it on screen and share it round before anyone commits. The preview carries a watermark on screen only; it never appears on the printed item. When everyone is happy, finish the design and order. What you see is what gets printed, so check names, dates and numbers together first. Make the artwork for these notebooks the same size as the one you order, such as DL portrait (99 × 210 mm).
Do colours print softer on uncoated, recycled or textured paper?
Yes. Uncoated, textured and recycled stocks absorb more ink, so the result is softer and more matt than on a coated sheet. That quieter look is often the reason people choose them. For the closest match to set brand colours, a silk or coated option is the better bet. For these notebooks, the material can be 170gsm smooth white paper, 120gsm uncoated or 90gsm smooth white paper.
Can these notebooks go in the recycling bin afterwards?
Plain paper and card without lamination go in with ordinary paper recycling, so once the event, offer or year is over they can go in the paper bin at home or work. Lamination, foil and plastic make recycling harder, and rules vary from one council to the next, so check what yours accepts before binning those. For these notebooks, the material can be 170gsm smooth white paper, 120gsm uncoated or 90gsm smooth white paper.
How should we keep these notebooks in good condition until we need them?
Flat, dry and dark is the rule. Leave them in their box, away from damp, direct sun and heaters. Damp paper curls and can jam a printer, while sunlight slowly fades the ink. Take a handful at a time and keep the rest boxed. For these notebooks, the material can be 170gsm smooth white paper, 120gsm uncoated or 90gsm smooth white paper.

How we handle reviews
Only people who bought the product can review it. Each review is checked against a real order and marked "Verified owner".
We publish every genuine review, good or bad, exactly as it was written. We never edit reviews or choose which ones to show. The only reviews we hold back are spam, abuse, or ones that include personal details like a phone number or email address.
The star rating is the average of every published review. We never pay for reviews or give discounts or gifts in return for them.
Reviews show the reviewer's first name and initial. To have your own review taken down, contact us.
