What you get
Printed envelope: the letter decides the size. A tri-folded A4 sheet needs DL (220 × 110 mm); a single fold, or an A5 sheet, needs C5 (229 × 162 mm); an unfolded A4 page needs C4 (324 × 229 mm). Each printed envelope is white, self seal, 90gsm or 100gsm, with or without a window, printed black or full colour on the front or front and back. Order 500 to 10,000.

Overview
Printed envelope at FatPrint, in short: plain white envelopes look like junk mail or a bill. Put your logo on the front and people know who it is from before they open it. Add a return address and anything undeliverable comes back to you instead of vanishing.
Pick the size by what goes inside
- DL (220 × 110 mm). An A4 letter folded in three. The standard for invoices, statements and letters.
- C5 (229 × 162 mm). An A5 sheet flat, or A4 folded once. Good for cards, booklets and brochures.
- C4 (324 × 229 mm). A4 flat, no folds. For contracts, certificates and anything that should not be creased.
Every size comes with or without a window. A window saves printing an address label: fold the letter so the address lines up and it shows through. Without a window looks neater for cards and invitations.
Printed envelope options: paper and ink
All envelopes are white and self seal, so there is no licking. 90gsm is the everyday weight; 100gsm is a touch thicker and feels more solid. Printing is black or full colour, on the front only or on the front and back. Black on the front is plenty for a return address; full colour suits a bold logo. A back print might carry your web address across the flap.
Who orders them
A landlord posting rent statements. A school sending home reports. An online shop mailing small orders in C5. A charity sending out appeal letters in window DLs. Quantities run 500, 1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 5,000 or 10,000, and the price each drops as you go up.
Printed envelope artwork and delivery
We print onto ready-made envelopes, so there is a printable area on each size; send a print-ready PDF and we check it fits that area. The paid artwork service can set type, design from a brief or redraw a logo. See the artwork guidelines for file tips.
Every printed envelope order is made to order and dispatched from the UK: Express from 4 working days, Standard from 6, once your order and artwork are confirmed. UK mainland delivery is £7.95, free on orders of £100 or more after discounts; see delivery, or browse all envelopes.

Questions
Quick answers about printed envelope.
Our invoices go out on A4. Which envelope size should we order?
It depends how you fold them. An A4 sheet folded into thirds fits DL (220 × 110 mm). A5 flat, or A4 folded in half, fits C5 (229 × 162 mm). For A4 kept flat, you need C4 (324 × 229 mm).
Is a window envelope worth it for our monthly statements?
It saves time: the customer's address, already on the statement, is visible through the window, so nothing needs writing or printing on the front. For A4 folded in three, pick DL with a window.
Is there much difference between the 90gsm and 100gsm envelopes?
100gsm is slightly thicker and stiffer. Otherwise they are the same: white, self seal, and chosen alongside your size and whether you want a window.
Could our return address go on the back of the envelopes?
It could. Pick one of the two-sided printing options, in black or full colour. Plenty of businesses put their logo up front and the address for returns on the flap side.
What artwork do printed envelopes need?
We print onto ready-made envelopes, so send a print-ready PDF and we check it fits the printable area of your size. Paid help is there too: a clean layout from your text and logo (£15), a design from your brief (£35) or a logo redraw (£30), each with one first draft and two rounds of changes.
Will you tell me if something is wrong with my file?
We will. Every upload for your printed envelope order is checked by a person for whether the design fits the printable area of your envelope size, and its resolution, and you hear from us before anything is printed. Paid help is there too: a clean layout from your text and logo (£15), a design from your brief (£35) or a logo redraw (£30), each with one first draft and two rounds of changes.
How fast can I have my printed envelope order?
Express gets it out in 4 working days, Standard ships after 6 working days. Goods worth £100 or more travel free to a UK mainland address; below that, delivery is a flat £7.95 for the whole order. Northern Ireland and island addresses get a delivery quote first, and the mainland Highlands add £10.
Asked by buyers
How much will Printed Envelopes set me back?
£111.54 is where Printed Envelopes start, set up as DL (220 × 110 mm), with window and 90gsm white, self seal. Change the size, material, extras, quantity or speed and the total on the page moves straight away. The price you see is the price you pay at checkout, with delivery the only thing that can be added. Delivery anywhere on the UK mainland is £7.95 an order, and it costs nothing once the goods come to £100 or more after any discount code (design and artwork fees are not counted).
If I buy Printed Envelopes today, when will they leave you?
As the page first opens, the speeds for Printed Envelopes are Express 4 working days and Standard 6, counting Monday to Friday and skipping bank holidays. The count begins once we have your order and a file ready to print. A bigger size or a different material can move it by a day either way; each speed shows its own days as you choose. Tracking arrives by email on the day it ships, and the courier usually takes one to three working days from there.
Is delivery ever free?
It is £7.95 for the whole order, not per item, and free once the goods reach £100 after any discount code; design or artwork charges are left out of that £100. At £111.54 the opening price is already over £100, so mainland delivery costs nothing. A mainland Highlands postcode puts a single £10 on the order. Northern Ireland has its delivery priced before you pay, and so do the Channel Islands, the Scottish islands, Scilly, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man.
I cannot design at all. Can someone make the artwork for me?
Yes. When you choose the Artwork option you can pick from: send your own finished file (no charge), we set your words and logo on a tidy layout, called typesetting (£15), we design it from your brief (£35), we redraw a blurry or low quality logo as sharp vector art (£30) or we create a brand new logo (£50). Each fee is fixed, sits as its own line in your basket and covers every item on that line. Typesetting and design from a brief each come with one first draft and two rounds of changes. Prefer to do it yourself? The online designer is free to use. Material choices for Printed Envelopes: 100gsm white, self seal or 90gsm white, self seal.
Could I lay out these envelopes myself on your website?
Yes. Start the designer from this page, choose a layout to begin with, then drop in your text, logo and photos and drag them where you want. It checks as you go and warns you about leftover sample text, lettering that is too small, anything outside the safe area and images too low in resolution, all before you finish. Designing and previewing costs nothing. The watermark you see on screen is never printed; once you finish, it goes into the basket. Make the artwork for these envelopes the same size as the one you order, such as DL (220 × 110 mm).
Which envelope size fits what I am sending?
It depends how you fold the paper. An A4 sheet folded into three slides into DL (220 × 110 mm). Folded once, A4 fits C5 (229 × 162 mm), and so does A5 without folding. Sending A4 flat? That needs C4 (324 × 229 mm). Choose the window version and the address printed on your letter shows through, so nothing needs writing on each envelope. We print onto ready-made envelopes, so keep artwork clear of the edges and the flap.
Which sizes can Printed Envelopes be printed in?
Smallest: DL (220 × 110 mm), from £111.54. Biggest: C4 (324 × 229 mm), from £216.86. One more is listed in between, and every figure is for the cheapest options. Not sure which? Mark the space out with tape or string first and stand back to look.
Could you price a C5 (229 × 162 mm) envelope for me?
From £120.44 for 500, with the cheapest settings and the Standard service. That clears the £100 mark on its own, so UK mainland delivery costs nothing. Select it on the page and swap materials, finishes and speed to watch how the figure moves. Before delivery, these envelopes cost from £111.54.
I am never sure how many to print. How many envelopes is sensible?
Print what you will get through before anything on it goes stale, such as a phone number, a price or an offer. You can order anything between 500 and 10,000. Try two or three amounts on this page and work out the cost per envelope. Testing a new design? A smaller first batch lets you see how it goes before a bigger run. Sizes for these envelopes go from DL (220 × 110 mm) at the small end to C4 (324 × 229 mm), 3 in all.
How much for the biggest size, C4 (324 × 229 mm)?
From £216.86 for 500, with the cheapest settings and the Standard service. That clears the £100 mark on its own, so UK mainland delivery costs nothing. Select it on the page and swap materials, finishes and speed to watch how the figure moves. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each envelope is made to order for you.
Is there a minimum quantity for these envelopes?
The smallest order is 500 and the largest listed is 10000; the list starts 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 5000 and 10000. The price on the page covers every item in that quantity. To compare two quantities fairly, split each total by its number. A bigger run than the list allows can be priced separately on our Get a quote page. Before delivery, these envelopes cost from £111.54.
Could the total go up after I reach the checkout?
The only thing that can join the goods price is delivery; the price you see is the price you pay at checkout. Delivery anywhere on the UK mainland is £7.95 an order, and it costs nothing once the goods come to £100 or more after any discount code (design and artwork fees are not counted). If you pick a paid design option, it sits in the basket as a separate line with its own fee, so every penny is listed before you pay. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each envelope is made to order for you.
I live in the Scottish Highlands. Will Printed Envelopes cost more to send?
The whole UK is covered. Outside it, sadly, we cannot deliver. Mainland addresses in the Highlands pay one extra £10 on the order, even when delivery would otherwise be free. For Northern Ireland, and for the Channel Islands, the Scottish islands, Scilly, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man, we tell you the delivery cost before you pay, so message us your postcode on the Contact page or our Get a quote page. Choose Standard and these envelopes leave us after 6 working days; Express brings that down to 4.
Is there a quicker turnaround for these envelopes?
Work back from the day you need them. Express takes 4 working days to get Printed Envelopes out, against 6 on Standard, and costs £122.70 on the opening option rather than £111.54. Add up to three working days for the courier, plus any time you need to finish the file. Cutting it fine? Put your date in the question box before you order.
I am not a designer. What if the file I send turns out to be unusable?
You will not be left guessing. Each uploaded file is opened and looked over by a member of the team, and problems such as low-resolution pictures, no bleed or the wrong page size are sent back to you to fix before printing. If fixing it sounds like a chore, choose typesetting for £15: we lay out your text and logo, show you a first draft, then make up to two rounds of changes. Sizes for these envelopes go from DL (220 × 110 mm) at the small end to C4 (324 × 229 mm), 3 in all.
Which file formats can I upload?
A PDF made at the size you ordered works best, with the fonts embedded or turned into outlines. AI, EPS and SVG are fine too, as are high resolution JPG, PNG or TIFF images. Word, PowerPoint or Canva designs can be used, but save them out as a full quality PDF where you can. Attach up to 3 files of up to 25 MB each on the product page, or order first and send them afterwards; we email you a link. Make the artwork for these envelopes the same size as the one you order, such as DL (220 × 110 mm).
How many pixels does a photo need to print well on these envelopes?
Roughly 3,827 pixels across and 2,705 down for a C4 (324 × 229 mm) design, which is 300 dpi. Things read at arm's length need that 300 dpi at full size to stay crisp. Text and logos are safest as vector art, which never goes fuzzy. Pictures saved from a website or social media are nearly always too small, and our file check will point out any that could print blurred.
Our wording is not finished yet. Can I still pay now and send it later?
Yes. Pay now and add the file afterwards: uploading after ordering is allowed, so you do not have to wait for the final version. If a volunteer, friend or designer is preparing it, they can send the finished file to you to upload, or get in touch through our Contact page quoting your order number. Nothing goes to print until the file arrives and has been checked, so if there is a date to hit, get the artwork over as soon as you can. If you have no file, you can build the design for these envelopes in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.
Will anyone look at my file before it is printed?
Every file gets a human check for size, bleed and resolution, and we contact you about any problem before printing. With the online designer, what you see on screen is what gets printed. Nobody can know your details better than you, so double-check names, numbers and dates: we print what is supplied, and work begins once the order and file are confirmed. Make the artwork for these envelopes the same size as the one you order, such as DL (220 × 110 mm).
Once I finish designing these envelopes online, is the file mine to keep?
Yes. Order printing with an online design and a full resolution PDF comes with it; after payment you can download it from your confirmation email or from My Account. Just want the file? Finish the design and buy the print-ready PDF on its own for £9.99. As digital content, it cannot be cancelled once the download begins. Make the artwork for these envelopes the same size as the one you order, such as DL (220 × 110 mm).
Is a window available on Printed Envelopes?
In short, the window line for Printed Envelopes reads: No window or with window. Anything unusual in mind? Send the details through our quote form and someone will reply. The Specifications tab lists every other detail. Switch between the options on the page and the total moves with you, so comparing costs is quick.
Paper on Printed Envelopes: how do the choices differ?
The gsm figure is the weight of the paper in grams for each square metre, so a bigger number means a thicker, firmer sheet. Silk and gloss have a coating that keeps print sharp and bright, while uncoated sheets take a pen more easily. For Printed Envelopes the list runs 90gsm white, self seal; or 100gsm white, self seal. Try each one on the page: the figure changes as you click, so the cost of every choice is clear.
How do I pick the right printing for Printed Envelopes?
The printing option has 4 settings: full colour, front and back; black, front and back; full colour, front; or black, front. Choose black only or full colour, and one side or both. Switch between them on the page and the total updates straight away, so you can see what each one adds. For these envelopes, the material can be 90gsm white, self seal; or 100gsm white, self seal.
Does the window option I choose make a difference to Printed Envelopes?
A window envelope lets the address printed on your letter show through. For Printed Envelopes the list runs with window or no window. Try each one on the page: the figure changes as you click, so the cost of every choice is clear.
Do air conditioning and refrigeration engineers buy Printed Envelopes from you?

Should I get Printed Envelopes, or would NCR Sets suit me better?
Comparing Printed Envelopes with NCR Sets, this is what changes. Sizes: 3 on this page, the smallest DL (220 × 110 mm), and 2 on the other, the smallest A5 (148 × 210 mm). Opening price: £111.54 on this page and £37.02 on the other. On the Standard service it is 6 working days on this page and 9 on the other. Go by the spot it is going in and how long it needs to last, then open both pages and compare the live totals.
Who looks after me once I have bought Printed Envelopes?
You deal with FatPrint the whole way through. Once you order, somebody checks the artwork, Printed Envelopes are printed specially for your order, and a courier delivers them with a tracking link by email. Need to ask something along the way? Use the question box here or the Contact page and a real person answers.
Our treasurer needs a receipt for the accounts. What do we get?
Every order gets a confirmation email listing what was bought, the options chosen and the amount paid, and a club, school or small firm can file that as its record of payment. What you pay for these envelopes is the price shown on the page plus any delivery charge, nothing more. If your accounts need a particular kind of invoice, ask through the Contact page before you order and we will tell you what we can provide. Before delivery, these envelopes cost from £111.54.
We need a few different designs. Do they each need their own order?
One checkout covers the lot. Add a basket line for every design, attach the right file to each, then pay once. You pay a single delivery charge of £7.95 for the whole order, or nothing if the goods add up to £100 or more. Repeating one design on another line? Choose the artwork choice that points to a file already in the basket, and no second design fee is charged. Before delivery, these envelopes cost from £111.54.
Which cards do you take, and is paying online safe?
You pay by debit or credit card when you check out, and you can do it as a guest without making an account. Card details are handled by Stripe, a specialist payment company, so the full card number never reaches us or sits on our system. Printing starts after payment goes through and your file has been checked. If your group needs a price agreed before anyone pays, ask for a quote instead. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each envelope is made to order for you.
Next year we will want the same envelope again. Is reordering easy?
Yes. Treat it as a fresh order of the same item with the same settings, and attach the file you used last time. For online designs, the print-ready PDF from the original paid order is waiting in My Account and your confirmation email. Change any details that have moved on, such as a new email address or this year's date, before uploading. Before delivery, these envelopes cost from £111.54.
Can I swap my file once I have paid?
It depends on timing. Until production begins, a new file can replace the old one, or the order can be cancelled with a full refund; once it has begun, nothing can be changed. Message us straight away on the Contact page with your order number. Items printed exactly as supplied or designed do not count as faulty, so check names, numbers and dates first. Before delivery, these envelopes cost from £111.54.
The parcel turned up damaged. How do I sort it out?
Look everything over when it arrives. If something is damaged or missing, contact us within 48 hours through the contact form, with your order number and photos of both the item and the packaging. Please keep hold of it until we reply; we then sort out a reprint or a refund. Your legal rights stay the same, as the returns page sets out. Before delivery, these envelopes cost from £111.54.
I am a parent volunteer with no design experience. Can I still order these envelopes?
Yes. The online designer is free to use: start from a ready-made layout, swap in your wording and see exactly what will print. If you would rather hand it over, typesetting costs £15: send the words and a logo, and we set them out neatly, with one first draft and two rounds of changes. Either way, get someone else to read the names, dates and numbers before it goes to print. Sizes for these envelopes go from DL (220 × 110 mm) at the small end to C4 (324 × 229 mm), 3 in all.
I have never ordered printing before. Do I need to know the technical words?
No. A person on our team checks every file for size, bleed and resolution and tells you in plain words if anything needs changing. The free online designer also warns you about small text and blurry images before you finish. Or pick typesetting for £15 and we lay out your words and logo for you, with a first draft and two rounds of changes. If you have no file, you can build the design for these envelopes in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.
Will my logo colours come out the same as on screen?
Very close, but not always identical. A screen glows, print reflects light, so a small difference is normal. Sending CMYK artwork keeps it nearest; RGB is changed to CMYK before printing and the brightest greens, blues and oranges can look a touch flatter. For an exact brand colour, give us the Pantone reference and we get as close as the material allows. Sizes for these envelopes go from DL (220 × 110 mm) at the small end to C4 (324 × 229 mm), 3 in all.
Can these envelopes go in the recycling bin afterwards?
Plain paper and card without lamination go in with ordinary paper recycling, so once the event, offer or year is over they can go in the paper bin at home or work. Lamination, foil and plastic make recycling harder, and rules vary from one council to the next, so check what yours accepts before binning those. For these envelopes, the material can be 90gsm white, self seal; or 100gsm white, self seal.
How should we keep these envelopes in good condition until we need them?
Flat, dry and dark is the rule. Leave them in their box, away from damp, direct sun and heaters. Damp paper curls and can jam a printer, while sunlight slowly fades the ink. Take a handful at a time and keep the rest boxed. For these envelopes, the material can be 90gsm white, self seal; or 100gsm white, self seal.

Only people who bought the product can review it. Each review is checked against a real order and marked "Verified owner".
We publish every genuine review, good or bad, exactly as it was written. We never edit reviews or choose which ones to show. The only reviews we hold back are spam, abuse, or ones that include personal details like a phone number or email address.
The star rating is the average of every published review. We never pay for reviews or give discounts or gifts in return for them.
