Printed Car Park Signs

Printed car park signs for private land: the surgery with six bays and forty patients, the office yard where subcontractors park across the fire route, the school drop-off that turns into a scrum at 3pm. Pick from ready-made messages for visitors, reserved bays, keep clear areas, bikes, motorbikes and patient drop-off. Most come in A3, A2 or A1 on 3.5mm Correx, 5mm Foamex or 3mm Dibond aluminium composite.

The three questions to ask before ordering car park signs

What goes wrong in your car park now?

Start with the headache, not the catalogue. Visitors taking the boss's space? A Reserved Parking sign and a Visitor Parking sign split them up. Vans blocking the bin store or a gate? No Parking Keep Clear or Keep Clear No Parking. Builders' vans filling every bay during a refit? No Parking for Subcontractors. Bikes chained to the railings? Bicycle Parking and Motorbike Parking signs, with left and right arrow versions for cycle parking.

Who is reading it, and how fast?

Drivers read signs on the move, so size matters more here than in a corridor. As a guide, A3 reads at around 12 m, A2 at around 17 m and A1 at around 24 m. At an entrance off a busy road, A1 gives a driver time to react. At the head of a single bay, A3 is usually plenty.

How long will it stay up?

That picks the board for your printed car park signs, covered further down.

Printed car park signs by job

  • Getting in and out: the Car Park Sign for the entrance, plus Caution Entrance Only and Caution Exit Only strips.
  • Healthcare and schools: Patient Drop Off Pick Up Only with left and right arrows, and Parents Fasten Seat Belts.
  • Driver safety: Do Not Text and Drive, Cycle Crossing Ahead and Dead End No Turn Around.
  • Private roads: No Trespassing Authorised Vehicles Only Beyond This Point, and No Bicycles Allowed on Play Area Use Bicycle Racks for estates with a play park.
  • Terms of parking: No Responsibility Is Taken for Vehicles Parked. What that wording means for your liability is a legal question, so check it with your own adviser.

Boards and strips

Printed car park signs come on three boards. 3mm Dibond aluminium composite is the one for a sign that stays for years: flat in the weather, no rot, no rust, and easy to screw to a wall or post. 5mm Foamex suits covered and underground levels out of the rain. 3.5mm Correx is light and waterproof, good for overflow parking during building work or an event weekend.

The Caution Entrance Only and Caution Exit Only signs are long strips in 297 × 100 mm, 420 × 150 mm or 594 × 200 mm, on 3mm Foamex, 3mm Dibond or self-adhesive vinyl that sticks straight to a smooth barrier arm or gate.

Sizes and live prices

Most printed car park signs are portrait and share three sizes. The size table near the top of the page shows current prices for a typical sign.

Putting printed car park signs in the right place

Arrows work best at decision points: the entrance, the first junction, the corner where drivers usually go wrong. Left and right versions are separate products, so order one for each direction you need. Keep signs at a height drivers see over a bonnet and away from where a reversing van will clip them.

The ready-made printed car park signs need no artwork. For your company name, bay numbers or your own wording, send the text and size through get a quote. Keep custom words short and bold. If you upload your own file, a real person checks it for free.

Timings and delivery

Printed car park signs are ready to dispatch 5 working days after your order and artwork are confirmed. They are made to order and dispatched from the UK. UK mainland delivery is £7.95, free on orders of £100 or more after discounts (artwork fees excluded). Mainland Highlands add £10; Northern Ireland, the Scottish islands, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isles of Scilly and the Isle of Wight are quoted. More on the delivery page. For accessible bays see disabled parking signs, and for private roads see speed limit signs.

Car Park Signs: questions answered

Our church car park needs signs that last. What should they be printed on?

For signs that stay up for good, pick 3mm Dibond, the aluminium composite board. It keeps flat in wind and weather and can be drilled so you can screw it to a post. 3.5mm Correx is lighter and cheaper for a one-off event, and 5mm Foamex works under cover.

How big are the car park signs?

Most are portrait, in three A sizes: A3, A2 and A1, the largest being just under 600 by 850 mm. The two long strip designs for entrances and exits are different: they come as narrow landscape panels that can be read from roughly 4, 6 or 8 metres depending on the size you pick.

Can I point drivers left or right to different parking areas?

Yes. Signs for parking, bike parking and patient drop off each have a left arrow and a right arrow version, and reception and exit signs come with a right arrow. Buy one for each turn so a visitor can follow them from the gate to the right spot.

Could a sign show our business name or bay numbers?

The designs listed are fixed, but a custom one with your name, numbered bays or your own words can be quoted. Send the wording and the size through the Get a quote page or the Contact page, and we will come back with a price.

Are there signs for bikes and motorcycles too?

Yes. There are signs reserving space for bicycles or for motorbikes, each in a general and an only-for version, plus Cycle Crossing Ahead and the cycle parking arrows. One design even asks riders to keep bikes off a play area and use the racks.
