Printing in Sheffield for trades and industry #
Sheffield still makes things, builds things and fixes things. That means fences, yards and gates that need signs. Construction site banners carry the contractor’s name and the do’s and don’ts. Mesh banners go on scaffolding and Heras fencing, where the wind would rip a solid banner to bits. Correx boards are easy to replace on gates and in car parks. For inside walls in a factory or warehouse, Foamex boards are rigid and light.
What a good site sign says #
Company name and logo, a phone number someone actually answers, and the one rule that matters most at that gate. Hard hats, visitors report to the cabin, no unauthorised entry: pick the top one and make it big. A sign with twelve rules gets read by nobody, least of all the lad in the van at seven in the morning. Put the sign at eye height beside the gate, not on the gate, or it swings out of view every time it opens.
Snooker, football and big nights #
Every spring the Crucible Theatre hosts the World Snooker Championship, and fans turn up with banners for their favourite player. Football supporters do the same at Hillsborough and Bramall Lane. Shows at the Utilita Arena Sheffield and Sheffield City Hall round it off.
Freshers and societies #
Sheffield Hallam and the University of Sheffield are both big, and every society wants its stall to look better than the one next door. A 6 ft by 3 ft PVC banner across the front of the table is the classic. A roller banner behind you fills the gap. Balls and awards nights want a backdrop banner for the photos.
Parks, parties and shared houses #
- Festival organisers: feather flags for entrances and meeting points at summer events in the parks.
- Charities and clubs: banners for fun days and open days.
- Households: birthday and welcome-home banners.
- Landlords: Correx to-let boards and notices for shared houses.
Banners outdoors #
Outdoor adverts here come under England’s 2007 advertisement regulations. A short-term banner often needs no permission. If yours is going on a wall or by a road and you are unsure, ask Sheffield City Council.

Sheffield orders: your questions
Is there a FatPrint branch in Sheffield?
No. FatPrint is an online print business with no shop or office in the city. Everything is made to order and leaves by tracked courier from within the UK.
What will postage to Sheffield cost?
£7.95 a parcel, or free once the order tops £100 after discounts (artwork fees do not count towards it). Anything longer than 3 m, or a board beyond A0, carries a £15 surcharge.
Do you do signs for sites, yards and factories?
Yes. Construction site banners, Correx boards, Foamex boards and mesh banners all have live prices by size on their product pages.
What goes on a building site fence?
A mesh banner for Heras fencing or scaffolding, because the wind blows through it. Put the rules and contact numbers on Correx boards at the gate.
