Construction Site Signs and Label Printing
Construction site signs and label printing for builders, groundworkers and small contractors, from the first day of the strip-out to the snagging list. This page pulls together what a site actually uses: scaffold banners with your name on, hoarding boards, Correx signs for the Heras fence, ready-made danger and caution signs, and a magnetic sign for the van. Choose the board by how long the job runs and how rough the site is.

Construction site signs and label printing, sorted by where it goes
A building job has four places that need print: the outside of the site, the hazards inside it, the van, and the kit. Here is what each one tends to want, using only products on this page.
Outside the site: get seen
The first job for construction site signs and label printing is putting your name on the outside.
- Scaffold banners in 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm), 13 ft 1 in × 6 ft 7 in (4000 × 2000 mm), 16 ft 5 in × 9 ft 10 in (5000 × 3000 mm) or custom. Pick 260gsm mesh for exposed scaffolding where wind would strain a solid sheet, or 440gsm PVC for a sheltered spot.
- Printed hoarding boards in 8 ft × 4 ft (2440 × 1220 mm), 4 ft × 4 ft (1220 × 1220 mm) or 3 ft 3 in × 3 ft 3 in (1000 × 1000 mm), on 3mm Dibond aluminium composite, 5mm Foamex or 10mm Foamex.
Inside the site: warn people
Inside, construction site signs and label printing is about warnings. Ready-made signs for the everyday risks: Caution Fragile Roof, Danger Deep Excavations, Danger Drop, Warning Sudden Drop, Mind Your Step, Caution Falling Debris, Danger Falling Objects, Danger Men Working Overhead, Danger Overhead Crane and Danger Overhead Hazard. They come in A3 landscape (420 × 297 mm), A2 landscape (594 × 420 mm) or A1 landscape (841 × 594 mm). The Danger Demolition in Progress sign is bigger, in A1 (594 × 841 mm), 700 × 1000 mm or A0 (841 × 1189 mm).
For traffic and walkways, site banners such as Caution Site Speed Limit 10 mph, the 5 mph version, Fire Exit Left and Pedestrians Must Use This Route come in 3 ft 11 in × 2 ft 7 in (1200 × 800 mm), 6 ft 7 in × 3 ft 3 in (2000 × 1000 mm), 10 ft 10 in × 5 ft 11 in (3300 × 1800 mm) or custom, on 440gsm PVC or 260gsm mesh with eyelets.
On the van and the kit
An A2 magnetic van sign on 900µ magnetic sheeting goes on for work and comes off for the weekend. For tools and access kit, the label side of construction site signs and label printing covers things like ladder inspection labels with the ladder ID and check dates, and asset labels that mark tools as yours.
Correx, Foamex or Dibond on a building site
Correx is light fluted plastic that shrugs off rain and cable ties straight to a fence. Ideal when signs move as the job moves. Correx boards run from A4 to 1000 × 1000 mm in 3.5mm or 5mm. Foamex is smooth and rigid, good for the welfare cabin and indoor areas. Dibond is aluminium composite that stays flat for months outdoors and screws to hoarding or posts on a long build.
Picking the right sign size
With construction site signs and label printing, size follows distance. Put the big ones where people approach: A1 at the gate and on the perimeter fence. Save A3 for ladders, roof hatches and doors, where people are close. Let your risk assessment decide which warnings you need and where. Signs cover the risk that is left after everything else is done; they never replace the other controls.
Artwork, timings and delivery
The hazard signs are ready-made, so there is nothing to design. For your own banner or hoarding, upload a print-ready file, use the free online designer, or use our paid artwork service. A real person checks every uploaded file for free, whichever route you take for your construction site signs and label printing.
Each product in construction site signs and label printing has its own timings: standard production runs from 3 to 6 working days across this page, with express from 2, and each product page shows the figure. Everything is made to order and dispatched from the UK. UK mainland delivery is £7.95, free on orders of £100 or more after discounts (artwork fees excluded). Scaffold banners over 3 m on any side and boards bigger than A0, such as an 8 ft × 4 ft hoarding board, add £15. Mainland Highlands add £10; Northern Ireland, the Scottish islands, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isles of Scilly and the Isle of Wight are quoted. Builders & Construction: questions answered
Which labels do site managers and contractors order from you most?
The top three are the Ladder Inspection Labels, the Fire Stopping Labels and the Isolation Do Not Switch On Labels. Your business name and phone number go on every one, so the client or the next contractor on site can reach you without hunting for paperwork.
Can the lads fill in the labels on site with whatever pen they have?
On the matt paper labels, yes: any ballpoint or permanent pen will do. The waterproof polypropylene labels have a slicker surface, so hand out permanent markers for those. A ballpoint tends to skip on plastic.
Some labels will be on scaffolding and outdoor plant. Will paper survive?
No, paper is meant for dry places indoors. For anything exposed to rain, such as scaffold tags, outdoor plant or temporary kit on an open site, choose the waterproof polypropylene labels instead.
What signs should go up on a building site?
Your site and your risk assessment set the list. As a rough guide, most jobs have a board at the gate, warnings about hazards and PPE, and signs for directions and vehicles. You will find the common ones in the construction site signs range linked from this page.
Is there a money-saving bundle for builders?
Right now the starter packs cover electricians, gas engineers, plumbing and heating engineers and fire safety engineers. A builders pack is not listed yet. If one is added, it will show on this page with its price set at the parts added together, less a real saving.
How much is postage on site labels and signs?
A flat £7.95 for each order to the UK mainland, or free once the goods come to £100 after discounts. Large boards over A0 and banners over 3 m on a side add £15 once per order. Mainland Scottish Highlands add £10, and island addresses, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Wight are quoted.
