Overview

Letterhead printing at FatPrint, in short: a letter on plain paper with a logo pasted in the corner looks homemade. A proper pre-printed letterhead looks like you have been doing this for years. You print the letter itself in the office; the heading, colours and footer are already there.

Paper weight decides everything

  • 90gsm. Normal office weight. Feeds happily through laser and inkjet printers and folds neatly into an envelope. The sensible default.
  • 120gsm. Thicker and more solid in the hand. Nice for a solicitor, an estate agent or anyone sending formal letters.
  • 170gsm. Heavy, almost card. Great for certificates or a one-off welcome letter, but test your office printer first, as not all of them take it.

Every sheet is A4 (210 × 297 mm), smooth and white, so your typed text sits cleanly on top.

Letterhead printing on one side or two

Front only is the usual pick: logo and contact details at the top, maybe a footer. Printing both sides lets you put terms and conditions, bank details or a list of services on the back, which saves reprinting them on every invoice. A builder sending quotes might use the back for payment terms; a charity might list its trustees.

How many sheets

Packs come in 100, 250, 500, 1,000, 2,500, 5,000 or 10,000. A sole trader might get through 250 a year; a busy office might want 2,500. The more you order, the less each sheet costs. Matching slips and continuation sheets are in letterheads and compliment slips.

Artwork, timing and delivery

Upload a print-ready PDF at A4 with 3 mm bleed on every edge, or build the design in the free online designer. The paid artwork service can set type, design from a brief or redraw a logo. A person checks every uploaded file for free, and the artwork guidelines explain bleed.

Letterhead printing is made to order and dispatched from the UK: Express from 2 working days, Standard from 3 and Saver from 5, once your order and artwork are confirmed. UK mainland delivery is £7.95, free on orders of £100 or more after discounts; see delivery.

Questions

Quick answers about letterhead printing.

Our office printer is quite basic. Which letterhead paper weight should I pick?

Go for 90gsm. It is the everyday weight and feeds through ordinary laser and inkjet machines without trouble. 120gsm has a weightier feel that suits formal correspondence, and 170gsm is heavy, so confirm your printer copes with it first.

Will I be able to print each letter onto the letterheads myself?

Yes, that is the idea. We print your design in advance, and you run each letter through your own printer. The 90gsm paper works in laser and inkjet office machines alike; if you fancy 120gsm or 170gsm, check the heaviest paper your printer takes first.

Is it worth printing the back of our letterheads?

Most people only print the front. Choose both sides if you want your terms and conditions, payment details or a footer on the reverse of every sheet.

How do I prepare my artwork for my letterhead order?

Set it up as a print-ready PDF at A4 (210 × 297 mm) with 3 mm bleed round every edge, and keep text 3 mm or more inside the trim. Designing online works too. Paid help is there too: a clean layout from your text and logo (£15), a design from your brief (£35) or a logo redraw (£30), each with one first draft and two rounds of changes.

Will you tell me if something is wrong with my file?

We will. Every upload for your letterhead order is checked by a person for resolution, size and bleed, and you hear from us before anything is printed. In the online designer, what you see is what we print. Paid help is there too: a clean layout from your text and logo (£15), a design from your brief (£35) or a logo redraw (£30), each with one first draft and two rounds of changes.

How long until my letterhead order ships?

On Standard it is made and handed to the courier within 3 working days; Express shortens that to 2 working days, Saver stretches it to 5 working days for less. Goods worth £100 or more travel free to a UK mainland address; below that, delivery is a flat £7.95 for the whole order. Northern Ireland and island addresses get a delivery quote first, and the mainland Highlands add £10.

We want a full matching set for the office. What else goes with the letterhead?

Our DL compliment slips, a third of an A4 sheet, and the A4 continuation sheets both use the same smooth white papers, in 90gsm, 120gsm and 170gsm, so everything matches.

Asked by buyers

How cheaply can I get hold of Letterheads?

Picked the way the page first loads, with 90gsm smooth white paper and front only, Letterheads come to £31.05. Any other mix of options, a faster turnaround included, gets its own price the moment you choose it, and that figure is what you pay at checkout. Only delivery is left to add. On its own the opening price of £31.05 would add £7.95 for mainland delivery; reach £100 of goods and that goes to zero.

Is delivery extra on top of the price of Letterheads?

Send it to a UK mainland address for a flat £7.95, or for free when the goods in the basket add up to £100 or more after discounts; artwork and design charges do not count towards that. An order of just this at the opening price of £31.05 is under £100, so it pays the £7.95. We price delivery first for Northern Ireland and for the Isle of Wight, the Channel Islands, Scilly, the Scottish islands and the Isle of Man; Highland addresses on the mainland just pay £10 extra, one time per order.

Which turnaround speeds can I choose for Letterheads?

Allow 5 working days on Saver, 3 on Standard or 2 on Express before Letterheads are handed to the courier, based on the options the page opens with. Weekends and bank holidays are not counted, and nothing starts until the order is paid and the artwork is confirmed. Pick another size or material and the days beside each speed update, sometimes by a day. After it leaves us, the courier normally delivers in one to three working days and you get the tracking link by email.

Which artwork services are offered with Letterheads?

Several routes, all chosen under Artwork on this page. Send your own finished file (no charge), we set your words and logo on a tidy layout, called typesetting (£15), we design it from your brief (£35), we redraw a blurry or low quality logo as sharp vector art (£30) or we create a brand new logo (£50). Typesetting and design from a brief each come with one first draft and two rounds of changes. The fee is the same whatever quantity you order and shows separately in the basket. There is also a free online designer if you want to build it yourself. On this page, Letterheads start from £31.05.

Is the online designer free, and how do I use it?

Pick a starting layout, swap in your own words, logo and pictures, and move things around until it looks right. While you work, the tool flags sample text you forgot to change, small text, items outside the safe area and blurry images, before you can finish. It is free to use and the on-screen watermark does not print. What you see is what we print. Before delivery, these sheets cost from £31.05.

Once printed, can I run these sheets through our office printer to add each letter?

You can choose 90gsm, 120gsm or 170gsm smooth white paper. The 90 to 120gsm range suits nearly every office laser or inkjet; thicker sheets may want the single-sheet manual tray. Leave clear space in the design where your letter text goes, and try one sheet through your printer before loading a full ream.

Is there a minimum quantity for Letterheads?

Yes. You can start at 100, with 250, 500, 1000 and 2500 as the next steps. Each price is the total for that quantity, so divide it to compare the cost of one item across a few options before deciding. For an amount outside the list, ask for a quote. Before delivery, these sheets cost from £31.05.

I am never sure how many to print. How many sheets is sensible?

Start from how many you will really hand out before your details or offer change. This page goes from 100 up to 10,000, and the price per sheet usually falls as the number rises, so compare a couple of amounts. For a one-off campaign, a modest first order is a cheap way to test the design. Before delivery, these sheets cost from £31.05.

How many Letterheads can I buy at one time?

Anything from 100 to 10000. The quantity choices on the page run 100, 250, 500, 1000, 2500, 5000 and 10000. The figure shown is for the whole batch, not for one, so divide it by the number you picked to see the cost of each. If you need more than 10000, send the size, number and date through our Get a quote page. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each sheet is made to order for you.

Could the total go up after I reach the checkout?

No surprises: what the page shows for these sheets is the goods figure you pay at checkout. Delivery is the one extra, £7.95 to a UK mainland address, and it drops away when the goods reach £100 after discounts. Paid artwork help shows up as its own basket line, so you can check each amount before paying. Before delivery, these sheets cost from £31.05.

Do you send to Northern Ireland or the islands?

Yes, anywhere in the UK, though the price differs by area. A Highlands postcode on the mainland pays the usual rate plus a single £10 for the order, and that £10 still applies when the rest of the delivery is free. Northern Ireland gets a price worked out first, as do the Isle of Wight, the Channel Islands, Scilly, the Scottish islands and the Isle of Man: send your postcode through our Get a quote page or the Contact page. We cannot send anything outside the UK. Before delivery, these sheets cost from £31.05.

Our event is close. Can Letterheads be rushed?

Yes. Choose Express and Letterheads can be on the way in 2 working days on the opening option, for £35.96, where Saver is £31.05 and takes 5 days. Then give the courier one to three working days, and send the artwork with the order, because the clock does not run until the file is sorted. If the date is really tight, message us on the Contact page before paying and we will tell you honestly.

I am not a designer. What if the file I send turns out to be unusable?

That is why a person looks at every upload before anything is printed. Typical snags are a document at the wrong size, missing bleed, blurry photos and words sitting too near the trim. If we spot one, we explain what to change and you send a fresh file. Or hand it over to us: for £15 our typesetting places your wording and logo on a neat layout, with one first draft and two rounds of changes. If you have no file, you can build the design for these sheets in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.

Can I send a Word or Canva file for Letterheads?

Word, PowerPoint and Canva are a fair place to start, but export a high quality PDF from them before uploading. Our first choice is always a PDF at the ordered size with fonts embedded or outlined, followed by AI, EPS or SVG, then high resolution JPG, PNG or TIFF. You can add three files, each up to 25 MB, on this page, or upload them after ordering from the email we send. If you have no file, you can build the design for these sheets in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.

Will anyone look at my file before it is printed?

Yes, a real person on our team opens every uploaded file and checks the size, the bleed and the resolution. If something is off, you hear from us before anything is made. Designs made in the online designer are printed exactly as they looked on screen. We print what you send, though, so read the spelling, numbers and dates yourself as well. Making starts when the order and the file are both confirmed. If you have no file, you can build the design for these sheets in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.

Someone else is putting our file together. How does it reach you?

Easiest route: they send the finished file to whoever placed the order, and it gets uploaded after ordering. Up to 3 files of 25 MB each are fine. They can also reach us through the Contact page, as long as they quote your order number so it lands on the right job. Production waits for the checked file, so a late file means a later dispatch date. If you have no file, you can build the design for these sheets in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.

Once I finish designing these sheets online, is the file mine to keep?

Two ways. Buy the file on its own: finish your design and pay £9.99 for the print-ready PDF, though you give up the right to cancel as soon as you start downloading it. Or order printing, and a full resolution PDF of the design travels with the order, waiting for you in your confirmation email and under My Account once you have paid. Before delivery, these sheets cost from £31.05.

Which printed would you suggest for Letterheads?

The printed option has 2 settings: both sides or front only. It sets which sides of the item get printed. Switch between them on the page and the total updates straight away, so you can see what each one adds. For these sheets, the material can be 170gsm smooth white paper, 120gsm smooth white paper or 90gsm smooth white paper.

Can you explain the paper setting for Letterheads?

The paper option has 3 settings: 170gsm smooth white paper, 120gsm smooth white paper or 90gsm smooth white paper. The gsm figure is the weight of the paper in grams for each square metre, so a bigger number means a thicker, firmer sheet. Silk and gloss have a coating that keeps print sharp and bright, while uncoated sheets take a pen more easily. Switch between them on the page and the total updates straight away, so you can see what each one adds.

Would Letterheads be useful for air conditioning and refrigeration engineers?

For air con and fridge servicing, look under Air Con & Refrigeration in the shop: Letterheads are listed there. Prices begin at £31.05; the material choices are 170gsm smooth white paper, 120gsm smooth white paper or 90gsm smooth white paper; you can order from 100 up to 10000. People buying for that kind of work often add Heat Pump Service Labels or Air Conditioning Service Labels. Put everything in one order and delivery is free at £100 or more.

Do electricians buy Letterheads from you?

Yes: Letterheads sit in our Electricians section, next to other things electricians buy for rewires, testing and inspections. Prices begin at £31.05. The material choices are 170gsm smooth white paper, 120gsm smooth white paper or 90gsm smooth white paper. You can order from 100 up to 10000. Also in that section: EV Charger Labels and Emergency Lighting Test Labels. One basket can hold the lot, and delivery is free once the goods reach £100.

I work with builders and contractors. Are these sheets something we could use?

Yes: Letterheads sit in our Builders & Construction section, next to other things builders and contractors buy for sites, extensions and renovations. Prices begin at £31.05. The material choices are 170gsm smooth white paper, 120gsm smooth white paper or 90gsm smooth white paper. You can order from 100 up to 10000. Also in that section: Warning Fragile Roof Sign and Danger Keep Out Site Banner. One basket can hold the lot, and delivery is free once the goods reach £100.

Where do Letterheads and A4 Continuation Sheets differ?

Set Letterheads beside A4 Continuation Sheets and a few things differ. Opening price: £31.05 on this page and £24.26 on the other. On the Standard service it is 3 working days on this page and 4 on the other. Go by the spot it is going in and how long it needs to last, then open both pages and compare the live totals.

How would I decide between Printed Envelopes and Letterheads?

Comparing Letterheads with Printed Envelopes, this is what changes. Material: 170gsm smooth white paper, 120gsm smooth white paper or 90gsm smooth white paper on this page, against 90gsm white, self seal; or 100gsm white, self seal on the other. Opening price: £31.05 on this page and £111.54 on the other. On the Standard service it is 3 working days on this page and 6 on the other. Go by the spot it is going in and how long it needs to last, then open both pages and compare the live totals.

Should I get Letterheads, or would Compliment Slips suit me better?

Comparing Letterheads with Compliment Slips, this is what changes. Opening price: £31.05 on this page and £22.41 on the other. On the Standard service it is 3 working days on this page and 4 on the other. Go by the spot it is going in and how long it needs to last, then open both pages and compare the live totals.

I am not sure which options to pick for these sheets. Can someone advise me?

Yes. Type your question into the box on this page and a real person replies. Mention where the sheet will be used, how long you need it to last and the date you need it by. Answered questions may be shown on the page for other buyers, so leave personal details out of it. Private questions can go through the Contact page, and anything the options here cannot price can go through the Get a quote page. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each sheet is made to order for you.

I am ordering these sheets for a school or charity. Do I need to open an account?

No account is needed. Guest checkout lets a parent, volunteer or club secretary order once and pay by debit or credit card through Stripe. The price you see is the price you pay at checkout, and the confirmation email you receive lists the items and the amount paid for your records. If the committee needs a price agreed before anyone pays, the Get a quote page is the better starting point. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each sheet is made to order for you.

Do I have to register before I can buy?

There is no need to sign up. Pay as a guest with a bank card, handled securely by Stripe, and you still get an order confirmation email and a tracking email on dispatch. An account is optional; it just keeps your order history in one place, along with downloads of designs you made online. Before delivery, these sheets cost from £31.05.

Our treasurer needs a receipt for the accounts. What do we get?

Keep the order confirmation email we send: it itemises the purchase and the payment, and works as a plain receipt for your records. The total at checkout for these sheets is the goods price on the page plus delivery, so the email matches what left the account. Need something more formal for an audit or a grant claim? Message us from the Contact page with your order number. Before delivery, these sheets cost from £31.05.

Who looks after me once I have bought Letterheads?

FatPrint does, from start to finish. We take your order and payment, a person on our team checks your file, and Letterheads are made to order for you rather than taken off a shelf. It then goes to you by courier, with tracking sent by email. Questions before or after ordering go through the box on this page or the Contact page, and a person replies.

We need a few different designs. Do they each need their own order?

No. Each design goes into the basket as a separate line with its own file or online design, and you pay for them all in one checkout. Delivery is counted once for the whole order and costs nothing when the goods reach £100. If two lines share the same artwork, pick the artwork option that reuses a file already in your basket, so any design fee is only paid once. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each sheet is made to order for you.

Do I pay delivery on each item in my basket?

No. One delivery charge covers the whole basket, so adding Letterheads to other items does not add a second one. It is £7.95 to a UK mainland address and nothing once the goods total £100 after any discount code. Using the same design on two items? Pick the reuse-artwork option on the second one and you pay the artwork fee just once. Each line keeps its own size and quantity.

I have spotted a typo after paying. Can it be fixed?

Tell us quickly through the Contact page, quoting your order number. Before production starts we can take a corrected file, or cancel and refund the whole order. After that it cannot be changed. A print that matches your finished design or the file you sent is not a fault, so it pays to read every word and number before you order. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each sheet is made to order for you.

Can the back of these sheets carry different information from the front?

Yes. Pick the option to print on both sides and send a two-page PDF: page one for the front, page two for the back. Use the back for a map, opening hours, a price list or terms and conditions, and keep the front for the main message. The online designer lets you flip between the two sides. If you have no file, you can build the design for these sheets in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.

I am a parent volunteer with no design experience. Can I still order these sheets?

You do not need to be a designer, and nobody expects a parent or a club helper to be one. You can use the online designer at no cost, which checks things like tiny text and blurry photos as you go. Or choose typesetting for £15 and send us your text and logo; you get a first draft and up to two rounds of changes. A second pair of eyes on the spelling always helps. If you have no file, you can build the design for these sheets in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.

Should I send my file as RGB or CMYK?

CMYK if you can. An RGB file gets converted to CMYK for printing, and vivid greens, blues and oranges may lose a little brightness on the way. Have a Pantone number for your brand colour? Tell us and we match it as near as the material lets us. Expect a small shift between screen and print either way: a screen shines light at you, while printed items reflect it. If you have no file, you can build the design for these sheets in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.

Which mistakes does the online designer warn me about?

Five things: placeholder wording still sitting in the layout, lettering smaller than will print clearly, anything creeping past the safe area or right up to the trim, logos or photos with too few pixels for the size, and shapes lying on top of words. A serious issue has to be sorted before you finish, while a plain warning can be accepted if you are happy with it. Your spelling is not read, so go over names, numbers and dates yourself. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each sheet is made to order for you.

Can I design these sheets first and show the committee before we pay?

You can. Designing online costs nothing until you order, so make a draft, show it to the group and tweak it as often as you like. The on-screen watermark is only there on the preview and is never printed. The designer flags things like small text or low-resolution photos as you go, but it cannot catch a wrong date, so have a second person read it. Before delivery, these sheets cost from £31.05.

Can these sheets go in the recycling bin afterwards?

In most cases, yes, because unlaminated paper and card can go straight into your paper recycling. Foiled, laminated or plastic items are a different matter: they are harder to recycle and councils treat them differently, so look up your local rules first. Taking lamination off the order is the simplest way to keep it easy to recycle. For these sheets, the material can be 170gsm smooth white paper, 120gsm smooth white paper or 90gsm smooth white paper.

How should we keep these sheets in good condition until we need them?

Store paper and card lying flat, in the box it arrived in, in a dry spot out of sunlight and away from radiators. Moisture makes sheets curl and can cause jams in a printer, and strong light fades the colours over time. Only take out what you need, so the rest stays clean. For these sheets, the material can be 170gsm smooth white paper, 120gsm smooth white paper or 90gsm smooth white paper.
