What are paper placemats?
A paper placemat does two jobs at once. It protects the table, and it puts something in front of every customer while they wait. Use that space well: the menu, the kids' colouring page, the story of the place, next month's quiz night. Then it is cleared away and the next table gets a fresh one.
Choosing the paper
- 90gsm or 120gsm Premium Smooth White. Light and economical for single-use mats at busy tables.
- 170gsm Premium Smooth White or 170gsm Art Paper Silk. A firmer sheet that lies flat; silk gives photos a soft sheen.
- 300gsm Premium Smooth White. Card weight, for mats that feel substantial.
- 300gsm Synaps. A synthetic paper, worth a look if you want mats to last longer than one sitting.
- 350gsm Recycled Uncoated. The thickest option, with a natural uncoated feel.
Sizes for plates, trays and counters
A3 is the classic full-size placemat under a dinner plate. A4 suits café tables and trays. A5, A6, A7, DL (a third of A4) and the 105, 148 and 210 mm squares are smaller formats for side plates, cups, tray liners or a counter.

A family restaurant puts a colouring page on the back and a menu on the front. A chip shop prints its full menu on A3. A hotel uses 170gsm in the breakfast room. A wedding sets the order of the day at every seat.
