Overview

Custom poster printing covers a lot of ground: a gig poster in a pub window, a menu in a clip frame by the door, a jumble sale notice on a church noticeboard, an A0 floor plan at a school open day. One product, eight sizes, four stocks. The trick is matching the stock to the spot.

Choose the stock by where it hangs

  • 150gsm Satin Poster Paper: smooth with a soft sheen, for frames, clip frames and indoor walls.
  • 120gsm Blueback: paper with a blue reverse that stops whatever is underneath showing through, which makes it the usual pick for boards and outdoor sites.
  • 440gsm PVC: a tough PVC stock for outdoor posters and spots where paper would tear.
  • 400gsm PVC Free: a heavy stock for anyone who would rather avoid PVC.

Sizes, from flyer to floor plan

The A sizes run A5, A4, A3, A2, A1 and A0, and there are two inch sizes as well, 20 × 30 in and 30 × 40 in, for frames and boards made to those measurements. Measure the frame or board first, then pick the size that fits it. Order anything from 1 to 99.

Custom poster printing: artwork tips

Posters get a glance, not a read. One headline, one picture, the date and where. Use images at full resolution for the size you order; a phone photo that looks sharp at A4 can go soft at A0. Upload a print-ready file, use the free online designer, or book the paid artwork service. A person checks every uploaded file for free, and the artwork guidelines cover bleed and resolution.

Timing and delivery

Standard production is 4 working days after your order and artwork are confirmed, express from 2, saver 6. Custom poster printing jobs are made to order and dispatched from the UK. UK mainland delivery is £7.95, free on orders of £100 or more after discounts; see delivery. Want something rigid instead of paper? Questions

Quick answers about custom poster printing.

Who looks after the order once I have paid?

FatPrint does. Your artwork is checked by a person first, your poster printing is made to order, and a courier brings it to you with email tracking. Got a question first? Ask in the box on this page and a person answers.

How do I find out what my poster will cost?

Choose the options on this page and the total updates straight away. It opens on the cheapest combination, £19.40. The figure on the page is the one you pay at checkout.

Is there a discount if I buy more?

Usually, yes: the more you order, the less each one tends to cost. Anything from 1 up to 99 is priced on this page for this poster order. Postage to the UK mainland is £7.95 per basket, not per item, and free when your goods total £100 or more.

Do you check the design I upload?

Every upload is looked at by a person first, and nothing is printed until it passes. If anything needs fixing on this poster order, we tell you before it is made. Paid help is there too: a clean layout from your text and logo (£15), a design from your brief (£35) or a logo redraw (£30), each with one first draft and two rounds of changes.

Is anything added to the price of this poster order at checkout?

Only delivery, where it applies. The figure on the page is the one you pay at checkout. The £19.40 starting price for this poster order is the full price of the goods. Mainland UK delivery adds £7.95 to the basket, and nothing once the goods reach £100 after any discount code.

What is the turnaround on this poster order?

Pick Saver (6 working days), Standard (4 working days) or Express (2 working days); that is the time before it leaves us. The clock starts once your order is placed and the file is confirmed. Goods worth £100 or more travel free to a UK mainland address; below that, delivery is a flat £7.95 for the whole order.

Asked by buyers

How cheaply can I get hold of the Poster Printing?

Picked the way the page first loads, with 120gsm Blueback and A5 · 148 × 210 mm, the Poster Printing comes to £19.40. Any other mix of options, a faster turnaround included, gets its own price the moment you choose it, and that figure is what you pay at checkout. Only delivery is left to add. On its own the opening price of £19.40 would add £7.95 for mainland delivery; reach £100 of goods and that goes to zero.

Which turnaround speeds can I choose for the Poster Printing?

Allow 6 working days on Saver, 4 on Standard or 2 on Express before the Poster Printing is handed to the courier, based on the options the page opens with. Weekends and bank holidays are not counted, and nothing starts until the order is paid and the artwork is confirmed. Pick another size or material and the days beside each speed update, sometimes by a day. After it leaves us, the courier normally delivers in one to three working days and you get the tracking link by email.

Is delivery extra on top of the price of the Poster Printing?

Send it to a UK mainland address for a flat £7.95, or for free when the goods in the basket add up to £100 or more after discounts; artwork and design charges do not count towards that. An order of just this at the opening price of £19.40 is under £100, so it pays the £7.95. We price delivery first for Northern Ireland and for the Isle of Wight, the Channel Islands, Scilly, the Scottish islands and the Isle of Man; Highland addresses on the mainland just pay £10 extra, one time per order.

Which artwork services are offered with the Poster Printing?

Several routes, all chosen under Artwork on this page. Send your own finished file (no charge), we set your words and logo on a tidy layout, called typesetting (£15), we design it from your brief (£35), we redraw a blurry or low quality logo as sharp vector art (£30) or we create a brand new logo (£50). Typesetting and design from a brief each come with one first draft and two rounds of changes. The fee is the same whatever quantity you order and shows separately in the basket. There is also a free online designer if you want to build it yourself.

Is the online designer free, and how do I use it?

Pick a starting layout, swap in your own words, logo and pictures, and move things around until it looks right. While you work, the tool flags sample text you forgot to change, small text, items outside the safe area and blurry images, before you can finish. It is free to use and the on-screen watermark does not print. What you see is what we print. Make the artwork for this poster the same size as the one you order, such as A5 (148 × 210 mm).

Indoors or outdoors, which material suits this poster?

Satin 150gsm is the indoor choice: walls, frames and noticeboards. Blueback 120gsm has a blue reverse so an older poster underneath does not show through, and it is meant for pasting onto boards and billboards. For outdoors or lots of handling, PVC and PVC-free are the tough options that cope with water. Every material on this page is listed with its own price. For this poster, the material can be 440gsm PVC, 150gsm Satin Poster Paper, 120gsm Blueback or 400gsm PVC Free.

Which sizes can the Poster Printing be printed in?

The table has 8 sizes. At the small end, A5 (148 × 210 mm) costs from £19.40; at the top, A0 (841 × 1189 mm) costs from £26.95. Each figure is for the cheapest set of options at that size. Unsure? Measure where it will go and check the view from the spot people will stand.

Is there a minimum quantity for the Poster Printing?

Yes. You can start at 1, with 2, 3, 4 and 5 as the next steps. Each price is the total for that quantity, so divide it to compare the cost of one item across a few options before deciding. For an amount outside the list, ask for a quote. Sizes for this poster go from A5 (148 × 210 mm) at the small end to A0 (841 × 1189 mm), 8 in all.

And the largest poster, A0 (841 × 1189 mm): how much is that one?

From £26.95, with the cheapest settings and the Saver service. Add £7.95 for UK mainland delivery, or nothing at all once the goods reach £100. Select it on the page and swap materials, finishes and speed to watch how the figure moves. Sizes for this poster go from A5 (148 × 210 mm) at the small end to A0 (841 × 1189 mm), 8 in all.

Could the total go up after I reach the checkout?

No surprises: what the page shows for this poster is the goods figure you pay at checkout. Delivery is the one extra, £7.95 to a UK mainland address, and it drops away when the goods reach £100 after discounts. Paid artwork help shows up as its own basket line, so you can check each amount before paying. Before delivery, this poster costs from £19.40.

How many posters can I buy at one time?

Anything from 1 to 99. The quantity choices on the page run 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, and upwards. The figure shown is for the whole batch, not for one, so divide it by the number you picked to see the cost of each. If you need more than 99, send the size, number and date through our Get a quote page. Before delivery, this poster costs from £19.40.

I am not a business. Can I buy just one poster?

Of course. Anyone can order, with no trade account and no minimum beyond one. Prices for the Poster Printing begin at £19.40, checkout works without an account and you pay by card. Parents, clubs, churches and small shops order single items all the time. On its own the opening price of £19.40 would add £7.95 for mainland delivery; reach £100 of goods and that goes to zero.

Could you price a 508 × 762 mm poster for me?

From £22.07, with the cheapest settings and the Saver service. Add £7.95 for UK mainland delivery, or nothing at all once the goods reach £100. Select it on the page and swap materials, finishes and speed to watch how the figure moves. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each poster is made to order for you.

Our event is close. Can the Poster Printing be rushed?

Yes. Choose Express and the Poster Printing can be on the way in 2 working days on the opening option, for £25.88, where Saver is £19.40 and takes 6 days. Then give the courier one to three working days, and send the artwork with the order, because the clock does not run until the file is sorted. If the date is really tight, message us on the Contact page before paying and we will tell you honestly.

Do you send to Northern Ireland or the islands?

Yes, anywhere in the UK, though the price differs by area. A Highlands postcode on the mainland pays the usual rate plus a single £10 for the order, and that £10 still applies when the rest of the delivery is free. Northern Ireland gets a price worked out first, as do the Isle of Wight, the Channel Islands, Scilly, the Scottish islands and the Isle of Man: send your postcode through our Get a quote page or the Contact page. We cannot send anything outside the UK. Before delivery, this poster costs from £19.40.

How many pixels does a photo need to print well on this poster?

Big items seen from a distance only need 100 to 150 dpi at full size. So an A0 (841 × 1189 mm) layout wants about 3,311 by 4,681 pixels. Keep lettering and logos as vectors if you can. An image copied off a web page or a social post rarely has enough pixels; if yours looks likely to print soft, our file check flags it.

Will anyone look at my file before it is printed?

Yes, a real person on our team opens every uploaded file and checks the size, the bleed and the resolution. If something is off, you hear from us before anything is made. Designs made in the online designer are printed exactly as they looked on screen. We print what you send, though, so read the spelling, numbers and dates yourself as well. Making starts when the order and the file are both confirmed. Make the artwork for this poster the same size as the one you order, such as A5 (148 × 210 mm).

Someone else is putting our file together. How does it reach you?

Easiest route: they send the finished file to whoever placed the order, and it gets uploaded after ordering. Up to 3 files of 25 MB each are fine. They can also reach us through the Contact page, as long as they quote your order number so it lands on the right job. Production waits for the checked file, so a late file means a later dispatch date. Make the artwork for this poster the same size as the one you order, such as A5 (148 × 210 mm).

Can I send a Word or Canva file for the Poster Printing?

Word, PowerPoint and Canva are a fair place to start, but export a high quality PDF from them before uploading. Our first choice is always a PDF at the ordered size with fonts embedded or outlined, followed by AI, EPS or SVG, then high resolution JPG, PNG or TIFF. You can add three files, each up to 25 MB, on this page, or upload them after ordering from the email we send. If you have no file, you can build the design for this poster in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.

I am not a designer. What if the file I send turns out to be unusable?

That is why a person looks at every upload before anything is printed. Typical snags are a document at the wrong size, missing bleed, blurry photos and words sitting too near the trim. If we spot one, we explain what to change and you send a fresh file. Or hand it over to us: for £15 our typesetting places your wording and logo on a neat layout, with one first draft and two rounds of changes. If you have no file, you can build the design for this poster in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.

Once I finish designing this poster online, is the file mine to keep?

Two ways. Buy the file on its own: finish your design and pay £9.99 for the print-ready PDF, though you give up the right to cancel as soon as you start downloading it. Or order printing, and a full resolution PDF of the design travels with the order, waiting for you in your confirmation email and under My Account once you have paid. Make the artwork for this poster the same size as the one you order, such as A5 (148 × 210 mm).

Can you explain the material setting for the Poster Printing?

It is what your design gets printed onto. For the Poster Printing the list runs 440gsm PVC, 150gsm satin poster paper, 120gsm Blueback or 400gsm PVC free. Try each one on the page: the figure changes as you click, so the cost of every choice is clear.

Our club is running a raffle. What poster size works for noticeboards and shop windows?

Think about where each poster goes: a shop window or club noticeboard only needs A4 or A3, while a hall entrance or a big wall can take something larger. You can order a single poster, so a small club only buys what it will put up. Put the draw date, ticket price and where to buy tickets in big, clear type, and keep the rest short. For this poster, the material can be 440gsm PVC, 150gsm Satin Poster Paper, 120gsm Blueback or 400gsm PVC Free.

What is the tidiest way to put this poster up?

Start with the frame: measure its opening and match it to a size here, such as A3 (297 × 420 mm), A4 (210 × 297 mm) or A5 (148 × 210 mm). Snap frames, clip frames and poster hangers give an indoor wall a tidy finish, while putty or removable tape is fine for a short spell on paint. For outdoor spots, choose a water-resistant material and put it in a weatherproof case.

Should I get the Poster Printing, or would A0 Poster Printing suit me better?

Comparing the Poster Printing with the A0 Poster Printing, this is what changes. Sizes: 8 on this page, the smallest A5 (148 × 210 mm), and only A0 (841 × 1189 mm) on the other. Opening price: £19.40 on this page and £26.95 on the other. Go by the spot it is going in and how long it needs to last, then open both pages and compare the live totals.

How would I decide between A2 Poster Printing and Poster Printing?

Comparing the Poster Printing with the A2 Poster Printing, this is what changes. Sizes: 8 on this page, the smallest A5 (148 × 210 mm), and only A2 (420 × 594 mm) on the other. Opening price: £19.40 on this page and £21.09 on the other. Go by the spot it is going in and how long it needs to last, then open both pages and compare the live totals.

Where do the Poster Printing and the A1 Poster Printing differ?

Set the Poster Printing beside the A1 Poster Printing and a few things differ. Sizes: 8 on this page, the smallest A5 (148 × 210 mm), and only A1 (594 × 841 mm) on the other. Opening price: £19.40 on this page and £22.82 on the other. Go by the spot it is going in and how long it needs to last, then open both pages and compare the live totals.

I have spotted a typo after paying. Can it be fixed?

Tell us quickly through the Contact page, quoting your order number. Before production starts we can take a corrected file, or cancel and refund the whole order. After that it cannot be changed. A print that matches your finished design or the file you sent is not a fault, so it pays to read every word and number before you order. Sizes for this poster go from A5 (148 × 210 mm) at the small end to A0 (841 × 1189 mm), 8 in all.

Do I have to register before I can buy?

There is no need to sign up. Pay as a guest with a bank card, handled securely by Stripe, and you still get an order confirmation email and a tracking email on dispatch. An account is optional; it just keeps your order history in one place, along with downloads of designs you made online. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each poster is made to order for you.

We need a few different designs. Do they each need their own order?

No. Each design goes into the basket as a separate line with its own file or online design, and you pay for them all in one checkout. Delivery is counted once for the whole order and costs nothing when the goods reach £100. If two lines share the same artwork, pick the artwork option that reuses a file already in your basket, so any design fee is only paid once. Sizes for this poster go from A5 (148 × 210 mm) at the small end to A0 (841 × 1189 mm), 8 in all.

Our treasurer needs a receipt for the accounts. What do we get?

Keep the order confirmation email we send: it itemises the purchase and the payment, and works as a plain receipt for your records. The total at checkout for this poster is the goods price on the page plus delivery, so the email matches what left the account. Need something more formal for an audit or a grant claim? Message us from the Contact page with your order number. Before delivery, this poster costs from £19.40.

I am ordering this poster for a school or charity. Do I need to open an account?

No account is needed. Guest checkout lets a parent, volunteer or club secretary order once and pay by debit or credit card through Stripe. The price you see is the price you pay at checkout, and the confirmation email you receive lists the items and the amount paid for your records. If the committee needs a price agreed before anyone pays, the Get a quote page is the better starting point. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each poster is made to order for you.

Can I send this poster back if I no longer need it?

If it arrives faulty, damaged or not what you ordered, yes: under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 we reprint or refund. A change of mind is different. Each order is made to your specification, and reg. 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 takes those goods out of the 14-day right to cancel. Before production starts, though, you can cancel for all your money back. Sizes for this poster go from A5 (148 × 210 mm) at the small end to A0 (841 × 1189 mm), 8 in all.

The parcel turned up damaged. How do I sort it out?

Take photos of the damage and the box it came in, then send them through the contact form within 48 hours of delivery, with your order number. Hold on to the item rather than posting it back; we reply and arrange a reprint or refund. This sits alongside your legal rights, which the returns page covers. Choose Saver and this poster leaves us after 6 working days; Express brings that down to 2.

I am a parent volunteer with no design experience. Can I still order this poster?

You do not need to be a designer, and nobody expects a parent or a club helper to be one. You can use the online designer at no cost, which checks things like tiny text and blurry photos as you go. Or choose typesetting for £15 and send us your text and logo; you get a first draft and up to two rounds of changes. A second pair of eyes on the spelling always helps. If you have no file, you can build the design for this poster in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.

Should I send my file as RGB or CMYK?

CMYK if you can. An RGB file gets converted to CMYK for printing, and vivid greens, blues and oranges may lose a little brightness on the way. Have a Pantone number for your brand colour? Tell us and we match it as near as the material lets us. Expect a small shift between screen and print either way: a screen shines light at you, while a printed item reflects it. Make the artwork for this poster the same size as the one you order, such as A5 (148 × 210 mm).

Bleed and dpi mean nothing to me. Can I still get printing done?

Yes. You do not need any print knowledge to order the Poster Printing. Send us your words and logo with the typesetting option (£15) and we build the layout, then you get a first draft and two rounds of changes. If you would rather make it yourself, the online designer checks the technical side as you go. Whatever you choose, a real person looks at the file before printing.

Which mistakes does the online designer warn me about?

Five things: placeholder wording still sitting in the layout, lettering smaller than will print clearly, anything creeping past the safe area or right up to the trim, logos or photos with too few pixels for the size, and shapes lying on top of words. A serious issue has to be sorted before you finish, while a plain warning can be accepted if you are happy with it. Your spelling is not read, so go over names, numbers and dates yourself. Make the artwork for this poster the same size as the one you order, such as A5 (148 × 210 mm).

Can I design this poster first and show the committee before we pay?

You can. Designing online costs nothing until you order, so make a draft, show it to the group and tweak it as often as you like. The on-screen watermark is only there on the preview and is never printed. The designer flags things like small text or low-resolution photos as you go, but it cannot catch a wrong date, so have a second person read it. Make the artwork for this poster the same size as the one you order, such as A5 (148 × 210 mm).

Can this poster go in the recycling bin afterwards?

In most cases, yes, because unlaminated paper and card can go straight into your paper recycling. Foiled, laminated or plastic items are a different matter: they are harder to recycle and councils treat them differently, so look up your local rules first. Taking lamination off the order is the simplest way to keep it easy to recycle. For this poster, the material can be 440gsm PVC, 150gsm Satin Poster Paper, 120gsm Blueback or 400gsm PVC Free.
