Overview

Textured business card printing, made to order and dispatched from the UK.

Two textures, two feels

  • 300gsm textured uncoated is the firmer of the two, with a visible grain. It feels solid and a little rustic.
  • 250gsm Rives Shetland is a paper with a gentle, tactile texture. At 250gsm it is a touch lighter and more flexible than the 300gsm card, with a refined, papery handle.

Neither has a coating, so a biro or pencil writes on both without skidding. That matters if you jot appointment times, sign cards by hand or add a personal note.

Who picks textured card

An architect leaves a card on the table after a site meeting. A florist tucks one into a bouquet. A wedding stationer hands them out at a fair where everyone else's cards are shiny. In each case the card says something about the work before anyone reads it.

Textured business card printing: shape, sides and runs

The 85 × 55 mm oblong fits every wallet and card holder. The 55 × 55 mm square works for logo-led designs. Print just the front, or use the back too for services, a web address or a QR code. Runs come in 100, 250, 500, 1,000 and 5,000 cards.

Artwork

Your PDF should be the card size with an extra 3 mm of background running off each side, and any wording should sit a safe 3 mm or more in from where the blade cuts. No file? Use the free online designer, or pay us to typeset your details, design from your brief or redraw a logo, each including 1 design and 2 rounds of changes. A person looks over every uploaded file for free. The artwork guidelines have more.

Timing and delivery

Once your order and artwork are confirmed, textured business card printing is ready to dispatch from 7 working days on Saver, from 5 on Standard or from 3 on Express. Posting to the UK mainland costs £7.95, and nothing on orders of £100 or more after discounts; see delivery for other areas. Compare every stock in business cards.

Questions

Quick answers about textured business card printing.

How long until my textured business card order ships?

Express gets it out in 3 working days, Standard ships after 5 working days and Saver, the lowest price, after 7 working days. Mainland UK delivery adds £7.95 to the basket, and nothing once the goods reach £100 after any discount code. Highlands mainland addresses add £10; Northern Ireland and the islands are quoted first.

What file should I send for my textured business card order?

Send a print-ready PDF at the size you choose with 3 mm bleed round every edge, and keep text 3 mm or more inside the trim. Paid help is there too: a clean layout from your text and logo (£15), a design from your brief (£35) or a logo redraw (£30), each with one first draft and two rounds of changes.

Does a person look at my textured business card artwork?

Yes. Before your textured business card goes to print, someone checks resolution, size and bleed. Designing online instead? What you see on screen is exactly what gets printed.

How do the two textured card options compare?

The 300gsm textured uncoated is thicker and has a grain you can see. The 250gsm Rives Shetland is a touch lighter, with a soft texture you notice when you hold it. Neither has a coating.

As a hairdresser, can I write appointment times on these cards?

Yes. With no coating on either card, pens and pencils write cleanly, so you can add appointment times, a quick note or a handwritten thank you.

Will my brand colours be as bright as they are on silk card?

Expect them to be a little softer and more muted on textured, uncoated card than on coated silk. Designs with bold contrast and clear lettering suit it best.

Asked by buyers

How much will Textured Business Cards set me back?

£28.04 is where Textured Business Cards start, set up as 85 × 55 mm, 300gsm textured uncoated and front only on the Saver speed. Change the size, material, extras, quantity or speed and the total on the page moves straight away. The price you see is the price you pay at checkout, with delivery the only thing that can be added. Delivery anywhere on the UK mainland is £7.95 an order, and it costs nothing once the goods come to £100 or more after any discount code (design and artwork fees are not counted).

If I buy Textured Business Cards today, when will they leave you?

As the page first opens, the speeds for Textured Business Cards are Express 3 working days, Standard 5 and Saver 7, counting Monday to Friday and skipping bank holidays. The count begins once we have your order and a file ready to print. A bigger size or a different material can move it by a day either way; each speed shows its own days as you choose. Tracking arrives by email on the day it ships, and the courier usually takes one to three working days from there.

Is delivery ever free?

It is £7.95 for the whole order, not per item, and free once the goods reach £100 after any discount code; design or artwork charges are left out of that £100. On its own the opening price of £28.04 would add £7.95 for mainland delivery; reach £100 of goods and that goes to zero. A mainland Highlands postcode puts a single £10 on the order. Northern Ireland has its delivery priced before you pay, and so do the Channel Islands, the Scottish islands, Scilly, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man.

I cannot design at all. Can someone make the artwork for me?

Yes. When you choose the Artwork option you can pick from: send your own finished file (no charge), we set your words and logo on a tidy layout, called typesetting (£15), we design it from your brief (£35), we redraw a blurry or low quality logo as sharp vector art (£30) or we create a brand new logo (£50). Each fee is fixed, sits as its own line in your basket and covers every item on that line. Typesetting and design from a brief each come with one first draft and two rounds of changes. Prefer to do it yourself? The online designer is free to use. For reference, these cards measure 85 × 55 mm.

Could I lay out these cards myself on your website?

Yes. Start the designer from this page, choose a layout to begin with, then drop in your text, logo and photos and drag them where you want. It checks as you go and warns you about leftover sample text, lettering that is too small, anything outside the safe area and images too low in resolution, all before you finish. Designing and previewing costs nothing. The watermark you see on screen is never printed; once you finish, it goes into the basket. Make the artwork for these cards the same size as the one you order, such as 85 × 55 mm.

What are the measurements of Textured Business Cards?

It measures 85 × 55 mm and costs from £28.04. If that is not quite right for your space, the Square Business Cards or the Uncoated Business Cards may fit better. Spend £100 on goods and mainland delivery is free; below that it is £7.95. Other settings on the page, such as quantity, adjust the total as you go.

How big is each finished card, and how should my file be set up?

The easy route is the online designer, which sets the size and bleed for you. A print-ready PDF works best, with 3 mm of bleed on every edge. No file yet? Our paid typesetting, design and logo redraw options can do it for you. After trimming you get 85 × 55 mm / 55 × 55 mm. Keep names and numbers 3 mm or more in from the cut, while backgrounds should carry on past it into the bleed so no white line shows.

Is there a minimum quantity for these cards?

The smallest order is 100 and the largest listed is 5000; the list starts 100, 250, 500, 1000 and 5000. The price on the page covers every item in that quantity. To compare two quantities fairly, split each total by its number. A bigger run than the list allows can be priced separately on our Get a quote page. For reference, these cards measure 85 × 55 mm.

I am never sure how many to print. How many cards is sensible?

Print what you will get through before anything on it goes stale, such as a phone number, a price or an offer. You can order anything between 100 and 5,000. Try two or three amounts on this page and work out the cost per card. Testing a new design? A smaller first batch lets you see how it goes before a bigger run. Before delivery, these cards cost from £28.04.

Could the total go up after I reach the checkout?

The only thing that can join the goods price is delivery; the price you see is the price you pay at checkout. Delivery anywhere on the UK mainland is £7.95 an order, and it costs nothing once the goods come to £100 or more after any discount code (design and artwork fees are not counted). If you pick a paid design option, it sits in the basket as a separate line with its own fee, so every penny is listed before you pay. Before delivery, these cards cost from £28.04.

I live in the Scottish Highlands. Will Textured Business Cards cost more to send?

The whole UK is covered. Outside it, sadly, we cannot deliver. Mainland addresses in the Highlands pay one extra £10 on the order, even when delivery would otherwise be free. For Northern Ireland, and for the Channel Islands, the Scottish islands, Scilly, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man, we tell you the delivery cost before you pay, so message us your postcode on the Contact page or our Get a quote page. Choose Saver and these cards leave us after 7 working days; Express brings that down to 3.

Is there a quicker turnaround for these cards?

Work back from the day you need them. Express takes 3 working days to get Textured Business Cards out, against 7 on Saver, and costs £32.46 on the opening option rather than £28.04. Add up to three working days for the courier, plus any time you need to finish the file. Cutting it fine? Put your date in the question box before you order.

I am not a designer. What if the file I send turns out to be unusable?

You will not be left guessing. Each uploaded file is opened and looked over by a member of the team, and problems such as low-resolution pictures, no bleed or the wrong page size are sent back to you to fix before printing. If fixing it sounds like a chore, choose typesetting for £15: we lay out your text and logo, show you a first draft, then make up to two rounds of changes. Make the artwork for these cards the same size as the one you order, such as 85 × 55 mm.

Our wording is not finished yet. Can I still pay now and send it later?

Yes. Pay now and add the file afterwards: uploading after ordering is allowed, so you do not have to wait for the final version. If a volunteer, friend or designer is preparing it, they can send the finished file to you to upload, or get in touch through our Contact page quoting your order number. Nothing goes to print until the file arrives and has been checked, so if there is a date to hit, get the artwork over as soon as you can. If you have no file, you can build the design for these cards in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering. Material choices for Textured Business Cards: 300gsm textured uncoated or 250gsm Rives Shetland (textured).

Which file formats can I upload?

A PDF made at the size you ordered works best, with the fonts embedded or turned into outlines. AI, EPS and SVG are fine too, as are high resolution JPG, PNG or TIFF images. Word, PowerPoint or Canva designs can be used, but save them out as a full quality PDF where you can. Attach up to 3 files of up to 25 MB each on the product page, or order first and send them afterwards; we email you a link. For reference, these cards measure 85 × 55 mm.

Will anyone look at my file before it is printed?

Every file gets a human check for size, bleed and resolution, and we contact you about any problem before printing. With the online designer, what you see on screen is what gets printed. Nobody can know your details better than you, so double-check names, numbers and dates: we print what is supplied, and work begins once the order and file are confirmed. If you have no file, you can build the design for these cards in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering. For reference, these cards measure 85 × 55 mm.

How many pixels does a photo need to print well on these cards?

Roughly 1,004 pixels across and 650 down for an 85 × 55 mm design, which is 300 dpi. Things read at arm's length need that 300 dpi at full size to stay crisp. Text and logos are safest as vector art, which never goes fuzzy. Pictures saved from a website or social media are nearly always too small, and our file check will point out any that could print blurred.

Once I finish designing these cards online, is the file mine to keep?

Yes. Order printing with an online design and a full resolution PDF comes with it; after payment you can download it from your confirmation email or from My Account. Just want the file? Finish the design and buy the print-ready PDF on its own for £9.99. As digital content, it cannot be cancelled once the download begins. Make the artwork for these cards the same size as the one you order, such as 85 × 55 mm.

Can you explain the card setting for Textured Business Cards?

Card thickness is shown as gsm, the weight in grams of one square metre, and more gsm means a sturdier card. Coated silk card gives crisp print; recycled, textured or uncoated cards have a softer, more natural feel and are nicer to write on. For Textured Business Cards the list runs 250gsm Rives Shetland (textured) or 300gsm textured uncoated. Try each one on the page: the figure changes as you click, so the cost of every choice is clear.

Which printed would you suggest for Textured Business Cards?

It sets which sides of the item get printed. For Textured Business Cards the list runs both sides or front only. Try each one on the page: the figure changes as you click, so the cost of every choice is clear.

How would I decide between Uncoated Business Cards and Textured Business Cards?

Set Textured Business Cards beside Uncoated Business Cards and a few things differ. Material: 250gsm Rives Shetland (textured) or 300gsm textured uncoated on this page, against 350gsm recycled uncoated, 300gsm textured uncoated or 300gsm brown kraft on the other. Opening price: £28.04 on this page and £18.68 on the other. On the Standard service it is 5 working days on this page and 4 on the other. Go by the spot it is going in and how long it needs to last, then open both pages and compare the live totals.

Where do Textured Business Cards and Square Business Cards differ?

Set Textured Business Cards beside Square Business Cards and a few things differ. Material: 250gsm Rives Shetland (textured) or 300gsm textured uncoated on this page, against 350gsm recycled uncoated or 350gsm silk card on the other. Opening price: £28.04 on this page and £18.89 on the other. On the Standard service it is 5 working days on this page and 6 on the other. Go by the spot it is going in and how long it needs to last, then open both pages and compare the live totals.

Can I buy Textured Business Cards and other products in the same basket?

Yes. Different products, sizes and quantities can all sit in one basket, each as its own line with its own options. Delivery is charged once for the whole order, £7.95 to the UK mainland, and it is free when the goods reach £100 after discount codes. If two items share a design, choose the option to reuse artwork from another basket item and there is no second artwork fee. For reference, these cards measure 85 × 55 mm.

Can a volunteer order without setting up an account?

Yes. There is a guest checkout, so a one-off order does not need a login. Payment is by debit or credit card, processed by Stripe. The confirmation email that follows lists everything bought and what was paid, which helps when you claim the money back from the group. What the page shows is what the group pays, plus any delivery. For reference, these cards measure 85 × 55 mm.

Our treasurer needs a receipt for the accounts. What do we get?

Every order gets a confirmation email listing what was bought, the options chosen and the amount paid, and a club, school or small firm can file that as its record of payment. What you pay for these cards is the price shown on the page plus any delivery charge, nothing more. If your accounts need a particular kind of invoice, ask through the Contact page before you order and we will tell you what we can provide. Before delivery, these cards cost from £28.04.

Can I send these cards back if I no longer need them?

Not for a change of mind. These cards are made for your order, and goods made to your specification fall outside the 14-day cancellation right (reg. 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). You can still cancel and get all your money back before production begins. Anything faulty, damaged or wrong is covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and we reprint it or refund you. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each card is made to order for you. Before delivery, these cards cost from £28.04.

Can I swap my file once I have paid?

It depends on timing. Until production begins, a new file can replace the old one, or the order can be cancelled with a full refund; once it has begun, nothing can be changed. Message us straight away on the Contact page with your order number. Items printed exactly as supplied or designed do not count as faulty, so check names, numbers and dates first. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each card is made to order for you.

Who looks after me once I have bought Textured Business Cards?

You deal with FatPrint the whole way through. Once you order, somebody checks the artwork, Textured Business Cards are printed specially for your order, and a courier delivers them with a tracking link by email. Need to ask something along the way? Use the question box here or the Contact page and a real person answers.

Next year we will want the same card again. Is reordering easy?

Yes. Treat it as a fresh order of the same item with the same settings, and attach the file you used last time. For online designs, the print-ready PDF from the original paid order is waiting in My Account and your confirmation email. Change any details that have moved on, such as a new email address or this year's date, before uploading. For reference, these cards measure 85 × 55 mm.

Our club needs a big batch of cards, or an odd size. Can you price it?

Our Get a quote page is the place, and it also handles delivery to Northern Ireland and the islands. For anything the page cannot do, tell us the size, number, material, date and postcode on Get a quote, add a file if you have one, and we email a price back. Before delivery, these cards cost from £28.04.

We need a few different designs. Do they each need their own order?

One checkout covers the lot. Add a basket line for every design, attach the right file to each, then pay once. You pay a single delivery charge of £7.95 for the whole order, or nothing if the goods add up to £100 or more. Repeating one design on another line? Choose the artwork choice that points to a file already in the basket, and no second design fee is charged. For reference, these cards measure 85 × 55 mm.

I have never ordered printing before. Do I need to know the technical words?

No. A person on our team checks every file for size, bleed and resolution and tells you in plain words if anything needs changing. The free online designer also warns you about small text and blurry images before you finish. Or pick typesetting for £15 and we lay out your words and logo for you, with a first draft and two rounds of changes. Make the artwork for these cards the same size as the one you order, such as 85 × 55 mm.

Can the back of these cards carry different information from the front?

It can. Choose double-sided printing and upload a two-page PDF, with the front as page one and the back as page two. The back is handy for a club's fixtures, a cafe menu, collection times or directions to a venue. In the online designer, switch between front and back as you work. Make the artwork for these cards the same size as the one you order, such as 85 × 55 mm.

Which mistakes does the online designer warn me about?

Spelling is the one thing it cannot judge, so read that yourself. It does catch placeholder words nobody changed, tiny lettering, anything drifting beyond the safe area or near the trim, blurry logos and photos, and objects covering words. Issues that would spoil the print stop you finishing until they are sorted; lighter warnings you may choose to accept. Make the artwork for these cards the same size as the one you order, such as 85 × 55 mm.

Can I design these cards first and show the committee before we pay?

Yes. The online designer is free to use, so you can build the design, look at it on screen and share it round before anyone commits. The preview carries a watermark on screen only; it never appears on the printed item. When everyone is happy, finish the design and order. What you see is what gets printed, so check names, dates and numbers together first. Make the artwork for these cards the same size as the one you order, such as 85 × 55 mm.

Will a pen write cleanly on these cards?

Depends on the surface. Uncoated and textured cards are the friendliest for biros and fountain pens. Silk card takes a biro once the ink has dried; gloss and laminated finishes need a permanent pen and may still smear. Planning to write on the back, for example appointment times or a note? Leave that side without lamination. For these cards, the material can be 250gsm Rives Shetland (textured) or 300gsm textured uncoated.

Do colours print softer on uncoated, recycled or textured paper?

Yes. Uncoated, textured and recycled stocks absorb more ink, so the result is softer and more matt than on a coated sheet. That quieter look is often the reason people choose them. For the closest match to set brand colours, a silk or coated option is the better bet. For these cards, the material can be 250gsm Rives Shetland (textured) or 300gsm textured uncoated.

What details should go on these cards for a small business or club?

Start with your name and logo, a few words on what you do, then your phone number, email, website and the area you cover. If your line of work needs a registration number, add it as text. Less is more: a handful of big, clear words is easier to read than a long list. For these cards, the material can be 250gsm Rives Shetland (textured) or 300gsm textured uncoated.

Can these cards go in the recycling bin afterwards?

Plain paper and card without lamination go in with ordinary paper recycling, so once the event, offer or year is over they can go in the paper bin at home or work. Lamination, foil and plastic make recycling harder, and rules vary from one council to the next, so check what yours accepts before binning those. Recycled versions are available too. For these cards, the material can be 250gsm Rives Shetland (textured) or 300gsm textured uncoated.

How should we keep these cards in good condition until we need them?

Flat, dry and dark is the rule. Leave them in their box, away from damp, direct sun and heaters. Damp paper curls and can jam a printer, while sunlight slowly fades the ink. Take a handful at a time and keep the rest boxed. For these cards, the material can be 250gsm Rives Shetland (textured) or 300gsm textured uncoated.
