Construction Site Signs and Label Printing

Construction site signs and label printing for builders, groundworkers and small contractors, from the first day of the strip-out to the snagging list. This page pulls together what a site actually uses: scaffold banners with your name on, hoarding boards, Correx signs for the Heras fence, ready-made danger and caution signs, and a magnetic sign for the van. Choose the board by how long the job runs and how rough the site is.

Builders & Construction: questions answered

Which labels do site managers and contractors order from you most?

The top three are the Ladder Inspection Labels, the Fire Stopping Labels and the Isolation Do Not Switch On Labels. Your business name and phone number go on every one, so the client or the next contractor on site can reach you without hunting for paperwork.

Can the lads fill in the labels on site with whatever pen they have?

On the matt paper labels, yes: any ballpoint or permanent pen will do. The waterproof polypropylene labels have a slicker surface, so hand out permanent markers for those. A ballpoint tends to skip on plastic.

Some labels will be on scaffolding and outdoor plant. Will paper survive?

No, paper is meant for dry places indoors. For anything exposed to rain, such as scaffold tags, outdoor plant or temporary kit on an open site, choose the waterproof polypropylene labels instead.

What signs should go up on a building site?

Your site and your risk assessment set the list. As a rough guide, most jobs have a board at the gate, warnings about hazards and PPE, and signs for directions and vehicles. You will find the common ones in the construction site signs range linked from this page.

Is there a money-saving bundle for builders?

Right now the starter packs cover electricians, gas engineers, plumbing and heating engineers and fire safety engineers. A builders pack is not listed yet. If one is added, it will show on this page with its price set at the parts added together, less a real saving.

How much is postage on site labels and signs?

A flat £7.95 for each order to the UK mainland, or free once the goods come to £100 after discounts. Large boards over A0 and banners over 3 m on a side add £15 once per order. Mainland Scottish Highlands add £10, and island addresses, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Wight are quoted.
