Printed Event Banners

Printed event banners for the fun run on the seafront, the 10K through the park and the weekend festival in a farmer's field. Both products here are made on 260gsm mesh, which lets the wind through, so a banner on a barrier or fence stays calmer on a blowy day. Pick Marathon and Race Banners or Festival Banners, choose from 13 sizes, then metal or plastic eyelets.

Event & Sports Banners (printed event banners)

Why mesh for printed event banners?

Outdoor events are windy, and printed event banners take the brunt of it. A solid banner on a barrier acts like a sail, tugging at its ties and flapping all day. Mesh is woven with tiny open holes, so air passes through and the banner hangs flatter with less strain on the fixings. Close up, the print looks a touch softer than on PVC. From a few metres, which is where runners and crowds see it, it reads as a solid image. For a close-up spot, like the registration desk, PVC banners may suit better. The PVC or mesh guide has the full comparison.

Race or festival?

Both kinds of printed event banners share the same material and sizes. Choose metal eyelets for a banner that will be tied and re-tied over a long weekend; they are stronger than plastic. You can order from 1 to 500 per design, so a course with twenty identical sponsor boards goes in one order.

Printed event banners: sizes

There are 13 stock sizes, from a compact 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) up to 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm). The size table near the top of the page shows live prices for the most ordered ones.

The full list: 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm), 4 ft 11 in × 1 ft 8 in (1500 × 500 mm), 6 ft 7 in × 1 ft 8 in (2000 × 500 mm), 4 ft 11 in × 3 ft 3 in (1500 × 1000 mm), 6 ft × 3 ft (1829 × 914 mm), 6 ft 7 in × 3 ft 3 in (2000 × 1000 mm), 8 ft × 3 ft (2438 × 914 mm), 10 ft × 3 ft (3048 × 914 mm), 8 ft × 4 ft (2438 × 1219 mm), 9 ft 10 in × 3 ft 3 in (3000 × 1000 mm), 13 ft 1 in × 3 ft 3 in (4000 × 1000 mm), 10 ft 10 in × 5 ft 11 in (3300 × 1800 mm) and 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm).

Planning the site

Before ordering printed event banners, walk the course or the field plan with a clipboard. Note every spot that needs a banner and what it will be tied to: a crowd barrier, a Heras panel, a gantry. Long, low sizes such as 13 ft 1 in × 3 ft 3 in suit barrier runs; the big 3000 × 2000 mm size makes an entrance. Size the lettering for the reader. A finish line spotted from 20 m away needs much bigger letters than a sponsor name beside a water table. A rough rule is 25 mm of capital height per 3 metres of viewing distance. More in what size banner do I need.

Artwork for printed event banners

Give each banner one job: a distance, a sponsor, a direction. Avoid hairline fonts, which mesh can break up close to. Keep logos about 50 mm from the edges and eyelets. Ask sponsors for vector files (PDF, AI, EPS or SVG) so they stay crisp. Upload a print-ready file, use the free online designer, or book our paid artwork service; a real person checks every uploaded file for free.

Working back from race day

Printed event banners take 6 working days on standard production, express 4 and saver 8, from when your order and artwork are confirmed. Add delivery time, then a buffer. Every banner is made to order and dispatched from the UK.

UK mainland delivery is £7.95, free on orders of £100 or more after discounts (artwork fees excluded). Banners over 3 m on any side, such as the 10 ft × 3 ft, 4000 × 1000 mm and 3300 × 1800 mm sizes, add £15. Mainland Highlands add £10; Northern Ireland, the Scottish islands, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, the Isles of Scilly and the Isle of Wight are quoted. See the delivery page. For barrier covers, try crowd barrier banners or fence and barrier banners.

Event & Sports Banners: questions answered

Why are banners for fun runs usually mesh?

Race and festival banners tend to be tied to barriers and gantries in open fields, where wind is the enemy. 260gsm mesh lets air pass through, so less force pulls at the eyelets and ties, and the corners are far less likely to rip than on solid PVC.

Our charity 10k needs a finish banner. How big?

Measure the gantry or barrier first, and think about how far away runners are when they read it. A 4 m by 1 m strip or a 10 × 3 ft banner suits a barrier run, while a 3 m by 2 m banner gives a big bold area over a finish line.

When should I order banners for our festival?

Standard takes 6 working days before the banners leave us, counted from when your artwork is agreed. Express takes 4 and saver 8. Add time for any design changes and for the courier, and aim to have the banners in hand a few days before set-up, not on the morning itself.

We have six sponsors. Can all their logos go on the banner?

Yes. Ask each sponsor for a vector version of their logo, such as PDF, AI, EPS or SVG, so it stays crisp when blown up large. If someone only has a small or fuzzy image, request a better file, or pick the artwork help option where it is offered.
