Overview

Hoarding signage printing turns the fence round a job into advertising. A builder's hoarding stays up for weeks or months, passed by the same drivers and walkers every day. A row of printed boards tells them who is building, what is coming, and who to call.

About the photo: it shows a Correx site safety sign on a timber hoarding. Your hoarding boards are printed with your own design on the board you choose.

Who puts them up

Developers selling homes off-plan, contractors wanting their name seen, and shop fitters closing a unit on the high street while the new tenant moves in. A café opening next spring can use the hoarding to announce it long before the doors open.

Hoarding signage printing: sizes and boards

Three sizes: 8 ft × 4 ft (2440 × 1220 mm), the standard sheet that matches most hoarding panels; 4 ft × 4 ft (1220 × 1220 mm); and 3 ft 3 in × 3 ft 3 in (1000 × 1000 mm) for a single branded panel. All print in full colour.

  • 3mm Dibond aluminium composite: rigid and weatherproof, the one for a long outdoor run.
  • 5mm Foamex: a thicker PVC foam board that stays flatter at bigger sizes.
  • 10mm Foamex: very stiff, for large panels that need to look solid.

Design across the joins

Plan the hoarding as a run of panels, then draw your design across it. Keep logos, faces and phone numbers away from where one board meets the next, or they will be split by a gap. Big type reads from the other side of the road; small print only reads to someone standing right at the fence. Upload a print-ready file, use the free online designer, or book the paid artwork service. A person checks every uploaded file for free.

Leave room for the safety signs

The Health and Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996 require employers to provide safety signs wherever a risk cannot be avoided or controlled another way. On many sites those signs sit on the hoarding, so leave space for them rather than covering every panel with branding.

Timing and delivery

Standard production is 5 working days after your order and artwork are confirmed, express from 4, saver 7. Boards are made to order and dispatched from the UK. UK mainland delivery is £7.95, free on orders of £100 or more after discounts. The 8 ft × 4 ft and 4 ft × 4 ft boards are bigger than A0, so they add £15; see delivery. More hoarding signage printing options sit in hoardings and site signs.

Questions

Quick answers about hoarding signage printing.

Our shop refit needs a long run of hoarding. How is the cost worked out for big boards?

It depends on the size. Anything up to a metre square costs the same as the stock board it is cut out of. Past that, you pay per square metre, using the rate of the biggest stock board in that material.

What is a printed hoarding board made of?

You can have 3mm Dibond aluminium composite, 5mm Foamex or 10mm Foamex, with the design printed in full colour. Tell us where it is going if you are unsure which suits. It comes in 3 sizes. Prices start at £139.60.

Which sizes can I get a printed hoarding board in?

There are 3: 3 ft 3 in × 3 ft 3 in (1000 × 1000 mm), 4 ft × 4 ft (1220 × 1220 mm) or 8 ft × 4 ft (2440 × 1220 mm). Prices start at £139.60 and change with the size you pick.

Is anything added to the price of my printed hoarding board order at checkout?

Only delivery, where it applies. What the page shows is what you pay for the goods at checkout. The £139.60 starting price for your printed hoarding board order is the full price of the goods. Goods worth £100 or more travel free to a UK mainland address; below that, delivery is a flat £7.95 for the whole order.

What is the turnaround on my printed hoarding board order?

Pick Saver (4 working days), Standard (2 working days) or Express (1 working day); that is the time before it leaves us. The clock starts once your order is placed and the file is confirmed. Postage to the UK mainland is £7.95 per basket, not per item, and free when your goods total £100 or more.

Can I check the cost before I order?

It starts at £139.60, the cheapest combination, and changes as you pick options. The price you see is the price you pay at checkout. Mainland UK delivery adds £7.95 to the basket, and nothing once the goods reach £100 after any discount code.

Asked by buyers

How much will Printed Hoarding Boards set me back?

£139.60 is where Printed Hoarding Boards start, set up as 1000 × 1000 mm and 5mm Foamex on the Saver speed. Change the size, material, extras, quantity or speed and the total on the page moves straight away. The price you see is the price you pay at checkout, with delivery the only thing that can be added. Delivery anywhere on the UK mainland is £7.95 an order, and it costs nothing once the goods come to £100 or more after any discount code (design and artwork fees are not counted).

If I buy Printed Hoarding Boards today, when will they leave you?

As the page first opens, the speeds for Printed Hoarding Boards are Express 1 working day, Standard 2 and Saver 4, counting Monday to Friday and skipping bank holidays. The count begins once we have your order and a file ready to print. A bigger size or a different material can move it by a day either way; each speed shows its own days as you choose. Tracking arrives by email on the day it ships, and the courier usually takes one to three working days from there.

Is delivery ever free?

It is £7.95 for the whole order, not per item, and free once the goods reach £100 after any discount code; design or artwork charges are left out of that £100. At £139.60 the opening price is already over £100, so mainland delivery costs nothing. Pick one of the biggest sizes and a one-off £15 oversize charge applies. A mainland Highlands postcode puts a single £10 on the order. Northern Ireland has its delivery priced before you pay, and so do the Channel Islands, the Scottish islands, Scilly, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man.

Do the biggest sizes of Printed Hoarding Boards cost more to deliver?

Only the biggest. For Printed Hoarding Boards that means 2440 × 1220 mm (8ft x 4ft), 1220 × 1220 mm and 1000 × 1000 mm. Very big items (a banner longer than 3 m on any side, or a board bigger than A0) go with a specialist courier, which adds £15 once to the whole order, however many big items are in it. Everything smaller is sent at the ordinary rate. Send it to a UK mainland address for a flat £7.95, or for free when the goods in the basket add up to £100 or more after discounts; artwork and design charges do not count towards that.

I cannot design at all. Can someone make the artwork for me?

Yes. When you choose the Artwork option you can pick from: send your own finished file (no charge), we set your words and logo on a tidy layout, called typesetting (£15), we design it from your brief (£35), we redraw a blurry or low quality logo as sharp vector art (£30) or we create a brand new logo (£50). Each fee is fixed, sits as its own line in your basket and covers every item on that line. Typesetting and design from a brief each come with one first draft and two rounds of changes. Prefer to do it yourself? The online designer is free to use.

Could I lay out these hoarding boards myself on your website?

Yes. Start the designer from this page, choose a layout to begin with, then drop in your text, logo and photos and drag them where you want. It checks as you go and warns you about leftover sample text, lettering that is too small, anything outside the safe area and images too low in resolution, all before you finish. Designing and previewing costs nothing. The watermark you see on screen is never printed; once you finish, it goes into the basket. Make the artwork for these hoarding boards the same size as the one you order, such as 3 ft 3 in × 3 ft 3 in (1000 × 1000 mm).

How do I choose between the board options for Printed Hoarding Boards?

Start with where Printed Hoarding Boards will live. The choices are 5mm or 10mm Foamex and 3mm Dibond aluminium composite. Outdoors for years: Dibond, an aluminium composite that stays flat and weatherproof. Indoors, in a shop window or under cover: Foamex, a light and smooth foamed PVC, with the thicker sheets holding their shape better on big boards.

How big or small can Printed Hoarding Boards be?

Smallest: 3 ft 3 in × 3 ft 3 in (1000 × 1000 mm), from £139.60. Biggest: 8 ft × 4 ft (2440 × 1220 mm), from £358.10. One more is listed in between, and every figure is for the cheapest options. Not sure which? Mark the space out with tape or string first and stand back to look.

How many hoarding boards do we need to cover our fence?

Hoardings are usually made from standard sheets of 8 ft × 4 ft (2440 × 1220 mm), and our board of that size matches one sheet. Measure the run, count the panels and order that many; one continuous design can flow along a whole row of printed boards. Mark in your artwork which board goes where so everything lines up. Anything bigger than A0 travels as an oversize item, adding £15 once to the whole order.

How do people usually fix up these hoarding boards?

Mounting Printed Hoarding Boards start with a hole near each corner, then screws or cable ties. On a wall, use a washer under each screw head and stop before it bites too hard. For smooth indoor walls you would rather not drill, foam tape or adhesive pads do the job.

I need several hoarding boards, some in different sizes. How do I buy them?

Set up the first size, type how many you need next to Add to basket, then go back and set up the next size as another line. Every price you see is for one hoarding board, and the quantity box does the multiplying. Paying for artwork? It is charged once per line, not per item, and the option to reuse artwork from another basket item adds no second fee. For big numbers, ask on our Get a quote page. Sizes for these hoarding boards go from 3 ft 3 in × 3 ft 3 in (1000 × 1000 mm) at the small end to 8 ft × 4 ft (2440 × 1220 mm), 3 in all.

And the largest hoarding board, 8 ft × 4 ft (2440 × 1220 mm): how much is that one?

From £358.10, with the cheapest settings and the Saver service. Material by material, it is 3mm Dibond aluminium composite at £358.10, 5mm Foamex at £382.72 and 10mm Foamex at £473.21. That clears the £100 mark on its own, so UK mainland delivery costs nothing. Select it on the page and swap materials, finishes and speed to watch how the figure moves.

Can a private person buy a single hoarding board?

Yes. One is enough, and you do not need a business name or an account to check out. The opening price is £139.60, and any bank card will do. At £139.60 the opening price is already over £100, so mainland delivery costs nothing. A person still checks your file before it is printed, just as for a big order.

Could the total go up after I reach the checkout?

The only thing that can join the goods price is delivery; the price you see is the price you pay at checkout. Delivery anywhere on the UK mainland is £7.95 an order, and it costs nothing once the goods come to £100 or more after any discount code (design and artwork fees are not counted). If you pick a paid design option, it sits in the basket as a separate line with its own fee, so every penny is listed before you pay.

How much does a 4 ft × 4 ft (1220 × 1220 mm) hoarding board cost?

From £196.06, with the cheapest settings and the Saver service. Material by material, it is 3mm Dibond aluminium composite at £196.06, 5mm Foamex at £199.68 and 10mm Foamex at £249. That clears the £100 mark on its own, so UK mainland delivery costs nothing. Select it on the page and swap materials, finishes and speed to watch how the figure moves.

Is there a quicker turnaround for these hoarding boards?

Work back from the day you need them. Express takes 1 working day to get Printed Hoarding Boards out, against 4 on Saver, and costs £186.12 on the opening option rather than £139.60. Add up to three working days for the courier, plus any time you need to finish the file. Cutting it fine? Put your date in the question box before you order.

I live in the Scottish Highlands. Will Printed Hoarding Boards cost more to send?

The whole UK is covered. Outside it, sadly, we cannot deliver. Mainland addresses in the Highlands pay one extra £10 on the order, even when delivery would otherwise be free. For Northern Ireland, and for the Channel Islands, the Scottish islands, Scilly, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man, we tell you the delivery cost before you pay, so message us your postcode on the Contact page or our Get a quote page. Choose Saver and these hoarding boards leave us after 4 working days; Express brings that down to 1.

Which file formats can I upload?

A PDF made at the size you ordered works best, with the fonts embedded or turned into outlines. AI, EPS and SVG are fine too, as are high resolution JPG, PNG or TIFF images. Word, PowerPoint or Canva designs can be used, but save them out as a full quality PDF where you can. Attach up to 3 files of up to 25 MB each on the product page, or order first and send them afterwards; we email you a link. If you have no file, you can build the design for these hoarding boards in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.

Will anyone look at my file before it is printed?

Every file gets a human check for size, bleed and resolution, and we contact you about any problem before printing. With the online designer, what you see on screen is what gets printed. Nobody can know your details better than you, so double-check names, numbers and dates: we print what is supplied, and work begins once the order and file are confirmed. Make the artwork for these hoarding boards the same size as the one you order, such as 3 ft 3 in × 3 ft 3 in (1000 × 1000 mm).

Our wording is not finished yet. Can I still pay now and send it later?

Yes. Pay now and add the file afterwards: uploading after ordering is allowed, so you do not have to wait for the final version. If a volunteer, friend or designer is preparing it, they can send the finished file to you to upload, or get in touch through our Contact page quoting your order number. Nothing goes to print until the file arrives and has been checked, so if there is a date to hit, get the artwork over as soon as you can.

How many pixels does a photo need to print well on these hoarding boards?

Roughly 9,606 pixels across and 4,803 down for an 8 ft × 4 ft (2440 × 1220 mm) design, which is 100 dpi. That is plenty for something people read from a few metres away; anywhere from 100 to 150 dpi at full size will do. Text and logos are safest as vector art, which never goes fuzzy. Pictures saved from a website or social media are nearly always too small, and our file check will point out any that could print blurred.

I am not a designer. What if the file I send turns out to be unusable?

You will not be left guessing. Each uploaded file is opened and looked over by a member of the team, and problems such as low-resolution pictures, no bleed or the wrong page size are sent back to you to fix before printing. If fixing it sounds like a chore, choose typesetting for £15: we lay out your text and logo, show you a first draft, then make up to two rounds of changes. Sizes for these hoarding boards go from 3 ft 3 in × 3 ft 3 in (1000 × 1000 mm) at the small end to 8 ft × 4 ft (2440 × 1220 mm), 3 in all.

Once I finish designing these hoarding boards online, is the file mine to keep?

Yes. Order printing with an online design and a full resolution PDF comes with it; after payment you can download it from your confirmation email or from My Account. Just want the file? Finish the design and buy the print-ready PDF on its own for £9.99. As digital content, it cannot be cancelled once the download begins. Make the artwork for these hoarding boards the same size as the one you order, such as 3 ft 3 in × 3 ft 3 in (1000 × 1000 mm).

I work with builders and contractors. Are these hoarding boards something we could use?

For sites, extensions and renovations, look under Builders & Construction in the shop: Printed Hoarding Boards are listed there. Prices begin at £139.60; 3 sizes are listed, starting at 3 ft 3 in × 3 ft 3 in (1000 × 1000 mm); the material choices are 10mm Foamex, 5mm Foamex or 3mm Dibond aluminium composite. People buying for that kind of work often add No Admittance Authorised Personnel Only Site Banner or CCTV in Operation Site Banner. Put everything in one order and delivery is free at £100 or more.

Should I get Printed Hoarding Boards, or would Lamp Post Wraps suit me better?

Set Printed Hoarding Boards beside Lamp Post Wraps and a few things differ. Material: 10mm Foamex, 5mm Foamex or 3mm Dibond aluminium composite on this page, against 5mm Correx, 5.5mm Correx or 3.5mm Correx on the other. On the Standard service it is 2 working days on this page and 10 on the other. Choose by where it is going and for how long.

Which material is cheapest for Printed Hoarding Boards?

Taking the smallest size, 3 ft 3 in × 3 ft 3 in (1000 × 1000 mm), as the example: 10mm Foamex at £175.42, 5mm Foamex at £139.60 and 3mm Dibond aluminium composite at £142.86. Larger sizes follow a similar pattern, and the full grid sits in the size table further up the page. Think about where it is going first: a cheap material in the wrong spot can end up costing more.

Where do Printed Hoarding Boards and Venue Arrow Signs differ?

Set Printed Hoarding Boards beside Venue Arrow Signs and a few things differ. Do I have to register before I can buy?

No. Guest checkout is fine, and card payments go through Stripe, so a debit card or a credit card both work. If you choose to open an account while checking out, My Account keeps your past orders and the print files of anything you designed online. Guest or not, you get an email confirming the order and another with tracking once it is sent. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each hoarding board is made to order for you.

Next year we will want the same hoarding board again. Is reordering easy?

Yes. Treat it as a fresh order of the same item with the same settings, and attach the file you used last time. For online designs, the print-ready PDF from the original paid order is waiting in My Account and your confirmation email. Change any details that have moved on, such as a new email address or this year's date, before uploading. Sizes for these hoarding boards go from 3 ft 3 in × 3 ft 3 in (1000 × 1000 mm) at the small end to 8 ft × 4 ft (2440 × 1220 mm), 3 in all.

Can I send these hoarding boards back if I no longer need them?

Not for a change of mind. These hoarding boards are made for your order, and goods made to your specification fall outside the 14-day cancellation right (reg. 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). You can still cancel and get all your money back before production begins. Anything faulty, damaged or wrong is covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and we reprint it or refund you. Before delivery, these hoarding boards cost from £139.60.

Can I swap my file once I have paid?

It depends on timing. Until production begins, a new file can replace the old one, or the order can be cancelled with a full refund; once it has begun, nothing can be changed. Message us straight away on the Contact page with your order number. Items printed exactly as supplied or designed do not count as faulty, so check names, numbers and dates first. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each hoarding board is made to order for you.

Can I buy Printed Hoarding Boards and other products in the same basket?

Yes. Different products, sizes and quantities can all sit in one basket, each as its own line with its own options. Delivery is charged once for the whole order, £7.95 to the UK mainland, and it is free when the goods reach £100 after discount codes. An oversize item adds £15, but only once however many there are. If two items share a design, choose the option to reuse artwork from another basket item and there is no second artwork fee. Sizes for these hoarding boards go from 3 ft 3 in × 3 ft 3 in (1000 × 1000 mm) at the small end to 8 ft × 4 ft (2440 × 1220 mm), 3 in all.

Our club needs a big batch of hoarding boards, or an odd size. Can you price it?

Our Get a quote page is the place, and it also handles delivery to Northern Ireland and the islands. For anything the page cannot do, tell us the size, number, material, date and postcode on Get a quote, add a file if you have one, and we email a price back. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each hoarding board is made to order for you.

Who looks after me once I have bought Printed Hoarding Boards?

You deal with FatPrint the whole way through. Once you order, somebody checks the artwork, Printed Hoarding Boards are printed specially for your order, and a courier delivers them with a tracking link by email. Need to ask something along the way? Use the question box here or the Contact page and a real person answers.

I am not sure which options to pick for these hoarding boards. Can someone advise me?

Of course. Tell us three things: where these hoarding boards will go, whether it is for one day or for years, and your deadline. Send that through the question box on this page or the Contact page, and a member of the team will suggest options. If what you need is outside the options listed, the Get a quote page lets you describe it and get a price. Sizes for these hoarding boards go from 3 ft 3 in × 3 ft 3 in (1000 × 1000 mm) at the small end to 8 ft × 4 ft (2440 × 1220 mm), 3 in all.

The parcel turned up damaged. How do I sort it out?

Look everything over when it arrives. If something is damaged or missing, contact us within 48 hours through the contact form, with your order number and photos of both the item and the packaging. Please keep hold of it until we reply; we then sort out a reprint or a refund. Your legal rights stay the same, as the returns page sets out. The biggest sizes of these hoarding boards go by specialist courier, which adds £15 once to the order.

I have never ordered printing before. Do I need to know the technical words?

No. A person on our team checks every file for size, bleed and resolution and tells you in plain words if anything needs changing. The free online designer also warns you about small text and blurry images before you finish. Or pick typesetting for £15 and we lay out your words and logo for you, with a first draft and two rounds of changes. Sizes for these hoarding boards go from 3 ft 3 in × 3 ft 3 in (1000 × 1000 mm) at the small end to 8 ft × 4 ft (2440 × 1220 mm), 3 in all.

Which mistakes does the online designer warn me about?

Spelling is the one thing it cannot judge, so read that yourself. It does catch placeholder words nobody changed, tiny lettering, anything drifting beyond the safe area or near the trim, blurry logos and photos, and objects covering words. Issues that would spoil the print stop you finishing until they are sorted; lighter warnings you may choose to accept. Make the artwork for these hoarding boards the same size as the one you order, such as 3 ft 3 in × 3 ft 3 in (1000 × 1000 mm).

Can I design these hoarding boards first and show the committee before we pay?

Yes. The online designer is free to use, so you can build the design, look at it on screen and share it round before anyone commits. The preview carries a watermark on screen only; it never appears on the printed item. When everyone is happy, finish the design and order. What you see is what gets printed, so check names, dates and numbers together first. Make the artwork for these hoarding boards the same size as the one you order, such as 3 ft 3 in × 3 ft 3 in (1000 × 1000 mm).
