Overview

A PVC banner is the workhorse of outdoor print. It goes up with a handful of cable ties, shrugs off a wet week and comes down again when the job is done. Our PVC banner printing uses 440gsm PVC and full colour ink, and every banner is made to order and dispatched from the UK.

Where a PVC banner earns its keep

Picture a café that has just got the go-ahead for pavement tables. A 6 ft × 3 ft (1829 × 914 mm) banner on the railings tells passers-by before they reach the door. The same banner does the job on a school fence for open day, a club rail on match day, or a landlord's railing when a flat comes free.

PVC banner printing choices that change the result

  • Size. Thirteen to pick from. The long, thin 13 ft 1 in × 3 ft 3 in (4000 × 1000 mm) suits a shop fascia; 8 ft × 4 ft (2438 × 1219 mm) is a good all-rounder for a fence.
  • Edges. Hemmed edges fold the border over for a stronger finish. Choose none if it is going into a frame.
  • Eyelets. Plastic or metal, your call.
  • Cable ties. None, one bag or two, so you are not hunting for them on the day.
  • Quantity. Anything from 1 to 99. More means less each.

Artwork and timing

Keep words and logos about 5 cm in from every edge, so hems and eyelets stay clear of them. Upload a print-ready file, build one in the free online designer, or hand the job to our paid artwork service. A real person checks every uploaded file for free.

Standard takes 4 working days after your order and artwork are confirmed. Express is from 2 working days, and saver takes 6 if the date is a way off.

Getting it to you

UK mainland delivery is £7.95, or free on orders of £100 or more after discounts. Anything over 3 m on any side, like the 4000 × 1000 mm size, adds £15. The delivery page has the full list of areas. Not sure what fits? Read what size banner you need, or see all PVC banners.

A banner fixed outside counts as an advertisement under the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) (England) Regulations 2007. Plenty of temporary banners need no consent, but some do, so check with your council before a big one goes up for months.

Questions

Quick answers about pvc banner printing.

Where are the eyelets on the PVC banner?

Round the edge at regular spacing, with one in every corner, so it pulls evenly when tied. Choose plastic or metal eyelets in the options.

Who handles my PVC banner order?

FatPrint takes the order and a person checks your file before anything is made. Each banner is made to order for you, then sent by courier with tracking. If anything needs changing, message us from the Contact page.

Can I check the cost before I order?

It starts at £34.60, the cheapest combination, and changes as you pick options. What the page shows is what you pay for the goods at checkout. Goods worth £100 or more travel free to a UK mainland address; below that, delivery is a flat £7.95 for the whole order.

Can I order several banners at once?

Yes. Anything from 1 up to 99 is priced on this page. The price per piece usually drops as the number goes up, which helps clubs and shops ordering in bulk. Postage to the UK mainland is £7.95 per basket, not per item, and free when your goods total £100 or more.

Will someone look at my file before the PVC banner is printed?

Yes. A person checks every file you upload before printing starts. Paid help is there too: a clean layout from your text and logo (£15), a design from your brief (£35) or a logo redraw (£30), each with one first draft and two rounds of changes.

Is the price shown for my PVC banner order the full price?

Yes, for the goods. The figure on the page is the one you pay at checkout. Mainland UK delivery adds £7.95 to the basket, and nothing once the goods reach £100 after any discount code.

Asked by buyers

How cheaply can I get hold of PVC Banners?

Picked the way the page first loads, with 440gsm PVC and 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm), PVC Banners come to £34.60. Any other mix of options, a faster turnaround included, gets its own price the moment you choose it, and that figure is what you pay at checkout. Only delivery is left to add. On its own the opening price of £34.60 would add £7.95 for mainland delivery; reach £100 of goods and that goes to zero.

Is delivery extra on top of the price of PVC Banners?

Send it to a UK mainland address for a flat £7.95, or for free when the goods in the basket add up to £100 or more after discounts; artwork and design charges do not count towards that. An order of just this at the opening price of £34.60 is under £100, so it pays the £7.95. The very largest sizes go as oversize parcels, adding £15 to the order once. We price delivery first for Northern Ireland and for the Isle of Wight, the Channel Islands, Scilly, the Scottish islands and the Isle of Man; Highland addresses on the mainland just pay £10 extra, one time per order.

Which turnaround speeds can I choose for PVC Banners?

Allow 6 working days on Saver, 4 on Standard or 2 on Express before PVC Banners are handed to the courier, based on the options the page opens with. Weekends and bank holidays are not counted, and nothing starts until the order is paid and the artwork is confirmed. Pick another size or material and the days beside each speed update, sometimes by a day. After it leaves us, the courier normally delivers in one to three working days and you get the tracking link by email.

I am making my own design. How do I lay out the file for these banners?

Build the page at the exact size you are ordering, or at a scale such as 1:10 if the file would be huge, and carry the background colour or picture all the way out to the edges. Words and logos belong 50 mm or more inside every edge. The hem is folded back there and the eyelet holes go through close to the border. Somewhere between 100 and 150 dpi at full size is plenty, since a banner is read from a few steps back. Designing online instead? The editor marks where the eyelets and the safe zone are.

Which artwork services are offered with PVC Banners?

Several routes, all chosen under Artwork on this page. Send your own finished file (no charge), we set your words and logo on a tidy layout, called typesetting (£15), we design it from your brief (£35), we redraw a blurry or low quality logo as sharp vector art (£30) or we create a brand new logo (£50). Typesetting and design from a brief each come with one first draft and two rounds of changes. The fee is the same whatever quantity you order and shows separately in the basket. There is also a free online designer if you want to build it yourself.

Is the online designer free, and how do I use it?

Pick a starting layout, swap in your own words, logo and pictures, and move things around until it looks right. While you work, the tool flags sample text you forgot to change, small text, items outside the safe area and blurry images, before you can finish. It is free to use and the on-screen watermark does not print. What you see is what we print. Make the artwork for these banners the same size as the one you order, such as 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm).

Which sizes can PVC Banners be printed in?

The table has 12 sizes. At the small end, 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) costs from £34.60; at the top, 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm) costs from £153.25. Need something in between? Type in your own width and height, anywhere from 300 mm to 5000 by 3000 mm. Each figure is for the cheapest set of options at that size. Unsure? Measure where it will go and check the view from the spot people will stand.

We are not sure how big to go. Which banner size is right for us?

Two numbers decide it: the space you are filling, and the distance people will read it from. At 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm), the smallest option here sits neatly on a stall, a doorway or one section of railing. At 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm), the biggest can stretch along a playing field fence or across the front of a building and still be read from far off. Nothing quite right? Any measurement from 300 mm on the short side to 5000 mm long by 3000 mm deep can be made.

Does rain get through these banners?

It keeps the weather out: 440gsm PVC is waterproof banner vinyl built for use outside. Its life outdoors comes down to exposure. Strong sun and gusty wind age it faster, while hemming, metal rings and a fixing in every hole keep it in good shape for longer. For a very windy spot, such as an open fence line or scaffold, choose mesh so the wind can pass through.

How do I hang these banners so the result looks tidy?

Start with the four corners so the banner hangs straight, then fill in along the top and bottom, using every eyelet. Tighten each tie until the slack is gone and stop there, so the banner is not stretched. Cable ties, bungee cords or rope all do the job. On an exposed railing, bungees stretch slightly when a gust hits, which takes the shock off solid PVC. Have a look after the first breezy day and swap any tie that has broken. We print these banners on 440gsm PVC.

How many PVC Banners can I buy at one time?

Anything from 1 to 99. The quantity choices on the page run 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, and upwards. The figure shown is for the whole batch, not for one, so divide it by the number you picked to see the cost of each. If you need more than 99, send the size, number and date through our Get a quote page. Before delivery, these banners cost from £34.60.

Could you price an 8 ft × 3 ft (2438 × 914 mm) banner for me?

From £61.50, with the cheapest settings and the Saver service. Add £7.95 for UK mainland delivery, or nothing at all once the goods reach £100. Select it on the page and swap materials, finishes and speed to watch how the figure moves. Sizes for these banners go from 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) at the small end to 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm), 12 in all.

I am not a business. Can I buy just one of these banners?

Of course. Anyone can order, with no trade account and no minimum beyond one. Prices for PVC Banners begin at £34.60, checkout works without an account and you pay by card. Parents, clubs, churches and small shops order single items all the time. On its own the opening price of £34.60 would add £7.95 for mainland delivery; reach £100 of goods and that goes to zero.

How can a small charity keep the cost of these banners down?

Three things help most: a modest size, 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) at £34.60; the Saver option, which costs least and needs 6 working days; and wording without a date, so it can be used again. Making the design yourself on screen is free. Delivery is free once the goods reach £100, so a few groups sharing one order can save the £7.95.

And the largest banner, 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm): how much is that one?

From £153.25, with the cheapest settings and the Saver service. That clears the £100 mark on its own, so UK mainland delivery costs nothing. Select it on the page and swap materials, finishes and speed to watch how the figure moves. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each banner is made to order for you.

Could the total go up after I reach the checkout?

No surprises: what the page shows for these banners is the goods figure you pay at checkout. Delivery is the one extra, £7.95 to a UK mainland address, and it drops away when the goods reach £100 after discounts. Paid artwork help shows up as its own basket line, so you can check each amount before paying. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each banner is made to order for you.

Our event is close. Can PVC Banners be rushed?

Yes. Choose Express and PVC Banners can be on the way in 2 working days on the opening option, for £46.14, where Saver is £34.60 and takes 6 days. Then give the courier one to three working days, and send the artwork with the order, because the clock does not run until the file is sorted. If the date is really tight, message us on the Contact page before paying and we will tell you honestly.

Do you send to Northern Ireland or the islands?

Yes, anywhere in the UK, though the price differs by area. A Highlands postcode on the mainland pays the usual rate plus a single £10 for the order, and that £10 still applies when the rest of the delivery is free. Northern Ireland gets a price worked out first, as do the Isle of Wight, the Channel Islands, Scilly, the Scottish islands and the Isle of Man: send your postcode through our Get a quote page or the Contact page. We cannot send anything outside the UK. The biggest sizes of these banners go by specialist courier, which adds £15 once to the order.

Can I send a Word or Canva file for PVC Banners?

Word, PowerPoint and Canva are a fair place to start, but export a high quality PDF from them before uploading. Our first choice is always a PDF at the ordered size with fonts embedded or outlined, followed by AI, EPS or SVG, then high resolution JPG, PNG or TIFF. You can add three files, each up to 25 MB, on this page, or upload them after ordering from the email we send. If you have no file, you can build the design for these banners in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.

How tall do the letters need to be so people can read these banners from a distance?

Take 6 ft × 3 ft (1829 × 914 mm) as an example. Leave 50 mm clear on every side and the text area is about 814 mm high. Capitals 240 mm tall can be picked out at around 29 m, because sign makers reckon every 25 mm of letter height carries roughly 3 m. A few short, heavy words in a colour that stands out from the background travel further than a long line squeezed in.

Someone else is putting our file together. How does it reach you?

Easiest route: they send the finished file to whoever placed the order, and it gets uploaded after ordering. Up to 3 files of 25 MB each are fine. They can also reach us through the Contact page, as long as they quote your order number so it lands on the right job. Production waits for the checked file, so a late file means a later dispatch date. If you have no file, you can build the design for these banners in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.

I am not a designer. What if the file I send turns out to be unusable?

That is why a person looks at every upload before anything is printed. Typical snags are a document at the wrong size, missing bleed, blurry photos and words sitting too near the trim. If we spot one, we explain what to change and you send a fresh file. Or hand it over to us: for £15 our typesetting places your wording and logo on a neat layout, with one first draft and two rounds of changes. Make the artwork for these banners the same size as the one you order, such as 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm).

How many pixels does a photo need to print well on these banners?

Big items seen from a distance only need 100 to 150 dpi at full size. So a 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm) layout wants about 11,811 by 7,874 pixels. Keep lettering and logos as vectors if you can. An image copied off a web page or a social post rarely has enough pixels; if yours looks likely to print soft, our file check flags it.

Once I finish designing these banners online, is the file mine to keep?

Two ways. Buy the file on its own: finish your design and pay £9.99 for the print-ready PDF, though you give up the right to cancel as soon as you start downloading it. Or order printing, and a full resolution PDF of the design travels with the order, waiting for you in your confirmation email and under My Account once you have paid. Make the artwork for these banners the same size as the one you order, such as 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm).

Can these banners be made to my own measurements?

Yes. Pick Custom size and type in what you need. The shortest side can be 300 mm, and the biggest piece is 5000 mm long by 3000 mm deep, landscape or portrait. You pay the price of the smallest listed size your measurements fit inside, so a slightly odd size costs no more than it needs to. Imperial or metric both work; switch the unit beside the size box. Sizes for these banners go from 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) at the small end to 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm), 12 in all.

We have a school fair coming up. Would these banners be suitable?

Yes. Tie them to railings, a fence or a gazebo, or stand them on an easel. If you are outside and the wind picks up, check the fixings again during the day. Leave time for making and delivery before the date of the fair. You will also find these banners in our Plumbers & Heating Engineers and Mechanics & Garages sections.

Would these banners look right inside a hall or a shop?

Yes. PVC hangs flat and the print comes out crisp, so it suits school halls, church halls, receptions, stage fronts and indoor events. If you would rather avoid PVC indoors, our PVC-free banners are made in the same sizes. Inside you can skip the ties altogether. Hang it by the eyelets from hooks or a length of cord, or use hanging strips that peel off cleanly. You will also find these banners in our Plumbers & Heating Engineers and Mechanics & Garages sections.

I work with plumbers and heating engineers. Are these banners something we could use?

For boiler swaps, heating jobs and callouts, look under Plumbers & Heating Engineers in the shop: PVC Banners are listed there. Prices begin at £34.60; 12 sizes are listed, starting at 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm); they are made from 440gsm PVC. People buying for that kind of work often add Business Cards or Magnetic Van Signs. Put everything in one order and delivery is free at £100 or more.

Can a club banner go up every weekend and come down again?

It can. Club secretaries often leave the season and dates off so one banner covers every home fixture. Tie every eyelet on the rail, take it down after the final whistle, let it dry if it has rained and roll it with the print facing out. For a windswept pitch, mesh takes less strain than solid PVC. You will also find these banners in our Plumbers & Heating Engineers and Mechanics & Garages sections.

I run a small shop. Would these banners work on the front of it?

A cafe, salon, market stall or corner shop can put these banners to good use out front. A PVC banner on the fascia or railings is a fast way to shout about an opening or an offer. For scale, 6 ft 7 in × 3 ft 3 in (2000 × 1000 mm) is £58.26. Large or lit signs may need advertisement consent from the council, and your landlord may have a say.

Could we put these banners up on a building site or around works?

Short term or in a sheltered spot, a banner is fine. For weeks on open fencing, switch to mesh, which lets the wind through. Whoever puts them up should tie off every fixing point firmly and check again once the wind has been blowing. You will also find these banners in our Plumbers & Heating Engineers and Mechanics & Garages sections.

Would PVC Banners be useful for mechanics and garages?

Yes: PVC Banners sit in our Mechanics & Garages section, next to other things mechanics and garages buy for garages, forecourts and service bays. Prices begin at £34.60. 12 sizes are listed, starting at 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm). They are made from 440gsm PVC. Also in that section: MOT & Service Reminder Stickers and Folded Leaflets. One basket can hold the lot, and delivery is free once the goods reach £100.

Our spot gets windy. Is a PVC banner going to cope?

Think of solid PVC stretched along open fencing as a sail. Every gust presses on the whole sheet, and all that force ends up in the eyelets and the ties. So use every eyelet, pull it firm without stretching it, look at the ties again after the first blustery spell, and bring it in if a storm is on the way. If it has to stay up for weeks somewhere exposed, mesh is the better buy because much of the wind blows through it. We print these banners on 440gsm PVC.

Can you explain the hemming setting for PVC Banners?

Hemming turns the edge over and welds it down, so the eyelets grip a double layer and the border is far less likely to rip. For anything facing the weather it is money well spent. For PVC Banners the list runs none or Hemmed Edges. Try each one on the page: the figure changes as you click, so the cost of every choice is clear.

How do I pick the right eyelets for PVC Banners?

Eyelets are the little rings set into the border so a tie or bungee can go through. If it is staying outside for weeks or months, go for metal, which lasts longer than plastic. For PVC Banners the list runs metal eyelets or plastic eyelets. Try each one on the page: the figure changes as you click, so the cost of every choice is clear.

Which cable ties would you suggest for PVC Banners?

The cable ties option has 3 settings: 2 bags, 1 bag or none. Add a bag or two of ties and you will not be hunting for them on the day you hang it. Do the four corners first, then work along every eyelet. Switch between them on the page and the total updates straight away, so you can see what each one adds. We print these banners on 440gsm PVC.

How should I keep these banners between uses?

Make sure it is bone dry and clean, then roll it up loosely with the print on the outside, round a cardboard tube if one is handy. Try not to fold it, because sharp folds leave creases and the ink can crack along them. Snip off old cable ties before rolling so they do not press marks into the print, and store the roll in a dry cupboard well clear of radiators. We print these banners on 440gsm PVC.

Is it legal to hang these banners on a fence or building I do not own?

Only with the owner's say-so, so ask the landowner or building owner before anything goes up. In England, outdoor banners are adverts in the eyes of the 2007 Control of Advertisements Regulations. Plenty of temporary banners need no application, but the size, the location and how long it is left up all count. Your local council can tell you if you are in doubt. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland each have similar rules of their own. We print these banners on 440gsm PVC.

Bleed and dpi mean nothing to me. Can I still get printing done?

Yes. You do not need any print knowledge to order PVC Banners. Send us your words and logo with the typesetting option (£15) and we build the layout, then you get a first draft and two rounds of changes. If you would rather make it yourself, the online designer checks the technical side as you go. Whatever you choose, a real person looks at the file before printing.

Can I design these banners first and show the committee before we pay?

You can. Designing online costs nothing until you order, so make a draft, show it to the group and tweak it as often as you like. The on-screen watermark is only there on the preview and is never printed. The designer flags things like small text or low-resolution photos as you go, but it cannot catch a wrong date, so have a second person read it. Make the artwork for these banners the same size as the one you order, such as 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm).
