Overview

PAT test pass label printing at FatPrint, in short: picture the end of a long testing day in an office: two hundred appliances, each needing a label, a date and a signature before you move to the next desk. The label has to peel fast, take a pen first time and still be readable at next year's visit.

What is printed and what you fill in

Every label carries the heading "PAT Tested" and the word "PASSED". Below that are write-on lines for "Date tested", "Next test due", "Tester" and "Asset no.", then a strip with your company name, phone number and scheme or registration number. The number is printed as plain text, never as a scheme logo. You can add your own logo, change the wording, or pre-print anything that is the same on every label, which saves writing it two hundred times.

Choosing the stock

  • Matt paper takes a ballpoint or permanent pen, so it is the one to pick if you fill labels in on site.
  • Gloss paper gives brighter colour for indoor kit.
  • Waterproof white polypropylene with a matt laminate is for outdoor tools, site gear and anything handled a lot. Write on it with a permanent marker.

Labels come on sheets, kiss cut and ready to peel, with a permanent adhesive. Stick them on the appliance body, or round the flex near the plug where the body is too small or too hot.

PAT test pass label printing: sizes and packs

Choose 51 × 25 mm for small items like phone chargers, or 62 × 33 mm when you want more room to write. Paper packs start at 48 and go up to 10,080 labels; polypropylene starts at 1,000. Need a size that is not listed? Ask for a quote with the size and quantity.

Artwork, dispatch and delivery

For PAT test pass label printing, use the free online designer, upload your own file, or book our paid artwork service. A person checks every uploaded file for free. Labels are ready to dispatch in 3 working days on Express, 5 on Standard or 7 on Saver. UK mainland delivery is £7.95, free on orders of £100 or more after discounts; see delivery. Fail labels and more are in trade and compliance labels, and every other sticker is in stickers and labels.

Electrical inspection and testing in the workplace comes under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. A pass label puts the result and date on the item itself; your test records sit behind it.

Questions

Quick answers about pat test pass label printing.

What goes on each PAT test pass label?

A "PAT Tested" heading, spaces to fill in for "Date tested", "Next test due", "Tester" and "Asset no.", and your company name and phone number and your scheme or registration number as plain text. In the online designer you can change the wording or add a logo, and you see exactly what is printed.

Can I write on a PAT test pass label with a pen?

Yes, if you order your PAT test pass label on the right stock. Matt paper takes a ballpoint or a permanent pen. The waterproof polypropylene has a matt laminate, so use a permanent marker on it. Gloss paper is meant for labels that are printed in full with nothing to fill in.

Which PAT test pass label stock copes with rain or damp?

Waterproof polypropylene. It shrugs off water and handling, so it is right for outdoor units, lofts, meter boxes, vans and plant rooms. The paper labels are for dry, indoor spots only.

Will you add the logo of the scheme I am registered with?

We cannot: those logos are licensed to members only. What we can print on your PAT test pass label is your registration number as plain text, plus your own business logo.

What is the minimum order for these labels?

Paper from 48 labels and polypropylene from 1000. Price per label falls as packs get larger, and you can see the cost each for every pack below the price. Need a size that is not listed? Use the Get a quote page.

I test office kit and power tools. Which pass label size should I order?

For kettles, phone chargers and power tools, 51 x 25 mm is the one that fits. If you would like your logo and number to stand out more, go for 62 x 33 mm, which suits desktop PCs and bigger appliances.

What is the turnaround on my PAT test pass label order?

On Standard it is made and handed to the courier within 5 working days; Express shortens that to 3 working days, Saver stretches it to 7 working days for less. The clock starts once your order is placed and the file is confirmed. Postage to the UK mainland is £7.95 per basket, not per item, and free when your goods total £100 or more. Highlands mainland addresses add £10; Northern Ireland and the islands are quoted first.

Asked by buyers

What wording comes already printed on these labels, and what do I write in myself?

You fill in four things by hand: date tested, next test due, tester plus asset no. Everything else is printed for you, starting with the "PAT TESTED" heading, then your company name, phone number and, as text only, any registration number. Want your logo on too? Add it in the online designer before you finish the layout. Sizes for these labels go from 51 × 25 mm at the small end to 62 × 33 mm, 2 in all.

How much will PAT Test Pass Labels set me back?

£26.31 is where PAT Test Pass Labels start, set up as 51 × 25 mm and gloss paper (indoor) on the Saver speed. Change the size, material, extras, quantity or speed and the total on the page moves straight away. The price you see is the price you pay at checkout, with delivery the only thing that can be added. Delivery anywhere on the UK mainland is £7.95 an order, and it costs nothing once the goods come to £100 or more after any discount code (design and artwork fees are not counted).

Is delivery ever free?

It is £7.95 for the whole order, not per item, and free once the goods reach £100 after any discount code; design or artwork charges are left out of that £100. On its own the opening price of £26.31 would add £7.95 for mainland delivery; reach £100 of goods and that goes to zero. A mainland Highlands postcode puts a single £10 on the order. Northern Ireland has its delivery priced before you pay, and so do the Channel Islands, the Scottish islands, Scilly, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man.

If I buy PAT Test Pass Labels today, when will they leave you?

As the page first opens, the speeds for PAT Test Pass Labels are Express 3 working days, Standard 5 and Saver 7, counting Monday to Friday and skipping bank holidays. The count begins once we have your order and a file ready to print. A bigger size or a different material can move it by a day either way; each speed shows its own days as you choose. Tracking arrives by email on the day it ships, and the courier usually takes one to three working days from there.

I cannot design at all. Can someone make the artwork for me?

Yes. When you choose the Artwork option you can pick from: we put your details on the ready label layout (no charge), send your own finished file (no charge), we design it from your brief (£35), we redraw a blurry or low quality logo as sharp vector art (£30) or we create a brand new logo (£50). Each fee is fixed, sits as its own line in your basket and covers every item on that line. Typesetting and design from a brief each come with one first draft and two rounds of changes. Prefer to do it yourself? The online designer is free to use.

Could I lay out these labels myself on your website?

Yes. Start the designer from this page, choose a layout to begin with, then drop in your text, logo and photos and drag them where you want. It checks as you go and warns you about leftover sample text, lettering that is too small, anything outside the safe area and images too low in resolution, all before you finish. Designing and previewing costs nothing. The watermark you see on screen is never printed; once you finish, it goes into the basket. Make the artwork for these labels the same size as the one you order, such as 51 × 25 mm.

Will paper do for these labels, or do they need something that copes with damp?

Anywhere damp, outdoors or knocked about: pick the waterproof polypropylene and write on it with a permanent marker. Somewhere dry indoors where you will write details on each one: matt paper is the easiest to write on. Nothing to write and staying indoors: gloss paper does the job for less. Swap between the three materials on this page and the total updates as you go. For these labels, the material can be Waterproof polypropylene (matt laminated, indoor and outdoor); or Matt paper (indoor, easy to write on); or Gloss paper (indoor).

Which is the smallest and which the biggest label I can order here?

Smallest: 51 × 25 mm, from £26.31. Biggest: 62 × 33 mm, from £26.31. Both figures are for the cheapest options. Not sure which? Mark the space out with tape or string first and stand back to look. A tape measure and a quick sketch of the spot will settle most size questions in a couple of minutes.

Biro or marker: what writes best on these labels?

That comes down to the material. Matt paper is happy with an everyday biro or a thin permanent pen. The waterproof polypropylene has a laminate on top where biro ink just sits and smears, so keep a permanent marker for that one. If the spot is fiddly to reach, write the date tested and the rest while the label is still on its backing sheet. For these labels, the material can be Waterproof polypropylene (matt laminated, indoor and outdoor); or Matt paper (indoor, easy to write on); or Gloss paper (indoor).

I belong to a registration scheme. Will you put its badge on my labels?

We cannot, because those badges belong to the scheme and only its members may use them, under its own rules. What we can print is your membership or registration number in plain text, next to your own business logo if you have one. Where your scheme hands out official badge labels or sets rules for showing membership, go by what it says. For these labels, the material can be Waterproof polypropylene (matt laminated, indoor and outdoor); or Matt paper (indoor, easy to write on); or Gloss paper (indoor).

How much for the biggest size, 62 × 33 mm?

From £26.31 for 48, with the cheapest settings and the Saver service. Add £7.95 for UK mainland delivery, or nothing at all once the goods reach £100. Select it on the page and swap materials, finishes and speed to watch how the figure moves.

Do these labels come on a roll or on sheets, and how many are in a pack?

Paper packs go from 48 up to 10,080 labels, and the waterproof polypropylene version begins at 1000. They arrive kiss cut on backing sheets, so each label lifts off on its own. The glue is permanent. Each pack size has its own per-label figure in the price table, which makes comparing two sizes quick. Sizes for these labels go from 51 × 25 mm at the small end to 62 × 33 mm, 2 in all.

Could the total go up after I reach the checkout?

The only thing that can join the goods price is delivery; the price you see is the price you pay at checkout. Delivery anywhere on the UK mainland is £7.95 an order, and it costs nothing once the goods come to £100 or more after any discount code (design and artwork fees are not counted). If you pick a paid design option, it sits in the basket as a separate line with its own fee, so every penny is listed before you pay. Before delivery, these labels cost from £26.31.

What form do PAT Test Pass Labels take when they arrive?

In short, the supplied line for PAT Test Pass Labels reads: On sheets, kiss cut, ready to peel. Anything unusual in mind? Send the details through our quote form and someone will reply. The Specifications tab lists every other detail.

Is there a minimum quantity for these labels?

The smallest order is 48 and the largest listed is 25000; the list starts 48, 70, 280, 480, 560 and 1000 and carries on from there. The price on the page covers every item in that quantity. To compare two quantities fairly, split each total by its number. A bigger run than the list allows can be priced separately on our Get a quote page. Before delivery, these labels cost from £26.31.

Is there a quicker turnaround for these labels?

Work back from the day you need them. Express takes 3 working days to get PAT Test Pass Labels out, against 7 on Saver, and costs £30.47 on the opening option rather than £26.31. Add up to three working days for the courier, plus any time you need to finish the file. Cutting it fine? Put your date in the question box before you order.

I live in the Scottish Highlands. Will PAT Test Pass Labels cost more to send?

The whole UK is covered. Outside it, sadly, we cannot deliver. Mainland addresses in the Highlands pay one extra £10 on the order, even when delivery would otherwise be free. For Northern Ireland, and for the Channel Islands, the Scottish islands, Scilly, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man, we tell you the delivery cost before you pay, so message us your postcode on the Contact page or our Get a quote page. Choose Saver and these labels leave us after 7 working days; Express brings that down to 3.

I am not a designer. What if the file I send turns out to be unusable?

You will not be left guessing. Each uploaded file is opened and looked over by a member of the team, and problems such as low-resolution pictures, no bleed or the wrong page size are sent back to you to fix before printing. Nothing is printed until a file passes that check, and you can send a corrected one. Sizes for these labels go from 51 × 25 mm at the small end to 62 × 33 mm, 2 in all.

Which file formats can I upload?

A PDF made at the size you ordered works best, with the fonts embedded or turned into outlines. AI, EPS and SVG are fine too, as are high resolution JPG, PNG or TIFF images. Word, PowerPoint or Canva designs can be used, but save them out as a full quality PDF where you can. Attach up to 3 files of up to 25 MB each on the product page, or order first and send them afterwards; we email you a link. Make the artwork for these labels the same size as the one you order, such as 51 × 25 mm.

Our wording is not finished yet. Can I still pay now and send it later?

Yes. Pay now and add the file afterwards: uploading after ordering is allowed, so you do not have to wait for the final version. If a volunteer, friend or designer is preparing it, they can send the finished file to you to upload, or get in touch through our Contact page quoting your order number. Nothing goes to print until the file arrives and has been checked, so if there is a date to hit, get the artwork over as soon as you can. If you have no file, you can build the design for these labels in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.

Will anyone look at my file before it is printed?

Every file gets a human check for size, bleed and resolution, and we contact you about any problem before printing. With the online designer, what you see on screen is what gets printed. Nobody can know your details better than you, so double-check names, numbers and dates: we print what is supplied, and work begins once the order and file are confirmed. If you have no file, you can build the design for these labels in our free online designer and check every detail before ordering.

What information can go on PAT Test Pass Labels?

In short, the printed details line for PAT Test Pass Labels reads: optional logo, scheme or registration number (as text), phone, company name, write-on lines and label wording. Anything unusual in mind? Send the details through our quote form and someone will reply. The Specifications tab lists every other detail.

How many pixels does a photo need to print well on these labels?

Roughly 732 pixels across and 390 down for a 62 × 33 mm design, which is 300 dpi. Things read at arm's length need that 300 dpi at full size to stay crisp. Text and logos are safest as vector art, which never goes fuzzy. Pictures saved from a website or social media are nearly always too small, and our file check will point out any that could print blurred.

Once I finish designing these labels online, is the file mine to keep?

Yes. Order printing with an online design and a full resolution PDF comes with it; after payment you can download it from your confirmation email or from My Account. Just want the file? Finish the design and buy the print-ready PDF on its own for £9.99. As digital content, it cannot be cancelled once the download begins. Make the artwork for these labels the same size as the one you order, such as 51 × 25 mm.

How well does the glue on PAT Test Pass Labels hold?

Straight from the details for PAT Test Pass Labels: Permanent. The rest of the spec sits in the Specifications tab further down the page. Want it done another way? Describe it in the question box or on our quote form, and a person will let you know if it can be done.

Can you explain the material setting for PAT Test Pass Labels?

The material option has 3 settings: waterproof polypropylene (matt laminated, indoor and outdoor); matt paper (indoor, easy to write on); or gloss paper (indoor). It is what your design gets printed onto. Switch between them on the page and the total updates straight away, so you can see what each one adds. For these labels, the material can be Waterproof polypropylene (matt laminated, indoor and outdoor); or Matt paper (indoor, easy to write on); or Gloss paper (indoor).

Could PAT Test Pass Labels be made in a size that is not listed?

Straight from the details for PAT Test Pass Labels: Other sizes on request (ask for a quote). The rest of the spec sits in the Specifications tab further down the page. Want it done another way? Describe it in the question box or on our quote form, and a person will let you know if it can be done.

Is it worth buying printed labels rather than writing on plain ones?

Usually, yes. Your firm's name, contact details and registration number come already printed on each one, so months later a tenant, client or inspector can see whose work it was and get in touch. Every label matches, and the lines left for handwriting remind you what to fill in on the day. You can begin with one of the smaller packs to try them out. You will also find these labels in our Landlords & Letting Agents and Electricians sections.

I work with landlords and letting agents. Are these labels something we could use?

Yes: PAT Test Pass Labels sit in our Landlords & Letting Agents section, next to other things landlords and letting agents buy for lets, rental homes and shared buildings. Prices begin at £26.31. 2 sizes are listed, starting at 51 × 25 mm. The material choices are waterproof polypropylene (matt laminated, indoor and outdoor); matt paper (indoor, easy to write on); or gloss paper (indoor). Also in that section: Carbon Monoxide Alarm Labels and Emergency Control Valve Labels. One basket can hold the lot, and delivery is free once the goods reach £100.

Would PAT Test Pass Labels be useful for electricians?

For rewires, testing and inspections, look under Electricians in the shop: PAT Test Pass Labels are listed there. Prices begin at £26.31; 2 sizes are listed, starting at 51 × 25 mm; the material choices are waterproof polypropylene (matt laminated, indoor and outdoor); matt paper (indoor, easy to write on); or gloss paper (indoor). People buying for that kind of work often add Custom Logo Stickers or Danger 440 Volts Sign. Put everything in one order and delivery is free at £100 or more.

What is the best spot for these labels, and how do I make them stay?

Choose a place that is clean, dry and easy to spot, either on the item itself or right beside it. Give the surface a wipe to shift dust or grease, then smooth the label down from its centre towards the edges. The glue is permanent and not made for moving, so settle on the spot before you peel. For these labels, the material can be Waterproof polypropylene (matt laminated, indoor and outdoor); or Matt paper (indoor, easy to write on); or Gloss paper (indoor).

Where do PAT Test Pass Labels and RCD Test Labels differ?

Set PAT Test Pass Labels beside RCD Test Labels and a few things differ. Sizes: 2 on this page, the smallest 51 × 25 mm, and only 96 × 45 mm on the other. Opening price: £26.31 on this page and £26.55 on the other. Go by the spot it is going in and how long it needs to last, then open both pages and compare the live totals.

How would I decide between Safety Electrical Connection Labels and PAT Test Pass Labels?

Set PAT Test Pass Labels beside Safety Electrical Connection Labels and a few things differ. Sizes: 2 on this page, the smallest 51 × 25 mm, and only 96 × 45 mm on the other. Opening price: £26.31 on this page and £26.55 on the other. Go by the spot it is going in and how long it needs to last, then open both pages and compare the live totals.

Can I swap my file once I have paid?

It depends on timing. Until production begins, a new file can replace the old one, or the order can be cancelled with a full refund; once it has begun, nothing can be changed. Message us straight away on the Contact page with your order number. Items printed exactly as supplied or designed do not count as faulty, so check names, numbers and dates first. Sizes for these labels go from 51 × 25 mm at the small end to 62 × 33 mm, 2 in all.

Who looks after me once I have bought PAT Test Pass Labels?

You deal with FatPrint the whole way through. Once you order, somebody checks the artwork, PAT Test Pass Labels are printed specially for your order, and a courier delivers them with a tracking link by email. Need to ask something along the way? Use the question box here or the Contact page and a real person answers.

Our club needs a big batch of labels, or an odd size. Can you price it?

Our Get a quote page is the place, and it also handles delivery to Northern Ireland and the islands. For anything the page cannot do, tell us the size, number, material, date and postcode on Get a quote, add a file if you have one, and we email a price back. Sizes for these labels go from 51 × 25 mm at the small end to 62 × 33 mm, 2 in all.

We need a few different designs. Do they each need their own order?

One checkout covers the lot. Add a basket line for every design, attach the right file to each, then pay once. You pay a single delivery charge of £7.95 for the whole order, or nothing if the goods add up to £100 or more. Repeating one design on another line? Choose the artwork choice that points to a file already in the basket, and no second design fee is charged. Before delivery, these labels cost from £26.31.

The parcel turned up damaged. How do I sort it out?

Look everything over when it arrives. If something is damaged or missing, contact us within 48 hours through the contact form, with your order number and photos of both the item and the packaging. Please keep hold of it until we reply; we then sort out a reprint or a refund. Your legal rights stay the same, as the returns page sets out. Before delivery, these labels cost from £26.31.

Will my logo colours come out the same as on screen?

Very close, but not always identical. A screen glows, print reflects light, so a small difference is normal. Sending CMYK artwork keeps it nearest; RGB is changed to CMYK before printing and the brightest greens, blues and oranges can look a touch flatter. For an exact brand colour, give us the Pantone reference and we get as close as the material allows. Make the artwork for these labels the same size as the one you order, such as 51 × 25 mm.

Can I design these labels first and show the committee before we pay?

Yes. The online designer is free to use, so you can build the design, look at it on screen and share it round before anyone commits. The preview carries a watermark on screen only; it never appears on the printed item. When everyone is happy, finish the design and order. What you see is what gets printed, so check names, dates and numbers together first. Make the artwork for these labels the same size as the one you order, such as 51 × 25 mm.
