Overview

The village fete is on Saturday. The field needs a banner at the gate, one over the tombola, and a long one behind the stage. That is three banners, one design and a date that will not move.

Plan backwards from the day

Standard production for event banner printing is 4 working days after your order and artwork are confirmed. Express is from 2 working days, saver is 6. Then add delivery. If you are ordering several banners around one event name, get the artwork sorted early, so all of them can go through together.

Picking sizes for a site

  • Gate or entrance: 6 ft × 3 ft (1829 × 914 mm) reads well from the road.
  • Stage or backdrop: 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm) fills the space behind a speaker.
  • Tables and stalls: 4 ft 11 in × 1 ft 8 in (1500 × 500 mm) fits along the front of a trestle.

Every one is 440gsm PVC. Choose hemmed or plain edges, plastic or metal eyelets, and add a bag or two of cable ties so the setting-up crew are not sent off to find some.

Event banner printing that works again next year

Leave the date off the main banner and it can come out every summer. Put the year and times on a smaller one instead. Charities, clubs and councils save a fair bit this way, because the big banner is paid for once. Roll it, do not fold it, when you pack it away.

Artwork, delivery and consent

Upload a print-ready file, make one in the free online designer, or use our paid artwork service. A person checks every uploaded file for free. Our artwork guidelines help with sizes and bleed. UK mainland delivery is £7.95, free on orders of £100 or more after discounts; see delivery. For more ideas, browse banners or read what size banner you need.

Banners put up outside to advertise an event are covered by the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) (England) Regulations 2007. Short-term event notices are often allowed without an application, but the council can tell you for sure.

Questions

Quick answers about event banner printing.

We are organising a charity fun day. Which event banner size goes where?

Think about where each one hangs. At the entrance gate or on a stall front, 6 ft × 3 ft (1829 × 914 mm) or 8 ft × 3 ft (2438 × 914 mm) reads well. Along the stage or a line of barriers, go for 9 ft 10 in × 3 ft 3 in (2997 × 991 mm) or bigger. If the field is exposed and blustery, a mesh banner copes better.

Who looks after the order once I have paid?

FatPrint does. Your artwork is checked by a person first, your event banner is made to order, and a courier brings it to you with email tracking. If anything needs changing, message us from the Contact page.

What can I choose when ordering an event banner?

You can set 13 sizes from 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) to 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm), material (440gsm PVC), eyelets (plastic eyelets or metal eyelets), hemming (hemmed edges or none) and cable ties (none, 1 bag or 2 bags). The price updates with each choice, so you can compare before paying.

What is the turnaround on my event banner order?

On Standard it is made and handed to the courier within 4 working days; Express shortens that to 2 working days, Saver stretches it to 6 working days for less. The clock starts once your order is placed and the file is confirmed. Mainland UK delivery adds £7.95 to the basket, and nothing once the goods reach £100 after any discount code.

Which sizes can I get an event banner in?

13 sizes, starting at 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) and going up to 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm). Prices start at £36.53 and change with the size you pick.

What is an event banner made of?

440gsm PVC is the material, with the design printed in full colour. It comes in 13 sizes. Prices start at £36.53.

Asked by buyers

How much will Event Banners set me back?

£36.53 is where Event Banners start, set up as 440gsm PVC and 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) on the Saver speed. Change the size, material, extras, quantity or speed and the total on the page moves straight away. The price you see is the price you pay at checkout, with delivery the only thing that can be added. Delivery anywhere on the UK mainland is £7.95 an order, and it costs nothing once the goods come to £100 or more after any discount code (design and artwork fees are not counted).

If I buy Event Banners today, when will they leave you?

As the page first opens, the speeds for Event Banners are Express 2 working days, Standard 4 and Saver 6, counting Monday to Friday and skipping bank holidays. The count begins once we have your order and a file ready to print. A bigger size or a different material can move it by a day either way; each speed shows its own days as you choose. Tracking arrives by email on the day it ships, and the courier usually takes one to three working days from there.

Could I lay out these banners myself on your website?

Yes. Start the designer from this page, choose a layout to begin with, then drop in your text, logo and photos and drag them where you want. It checks as you go and warns you about leftover sample text, lettering that is too small, anything outside the safe area and images too low in resolution, all before you finish. Designing and previewing costs nothing. The watermark you see on screen is never printed; once you finish, it goes into the basket. Make the artwork for these banners the same size as the one you order, such as 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm). Material choices for Event Banners: 440gsm PVC.

Which size of Event Banners gets noticed from across the street?

Grab a tape measure and stand where your visitors will stand. If they are walking past a few metres away, a modest size does the job; if they are across a car park or a road, go bigger. Choices here go from 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) at the small end to 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm) at the big end. Somewhere in between? A made-to-measure piece can be as small as 300 mm or as large as 5000 by 3000 mm. On its opening option, Event Banners leaves us after 6 working days on Saver.

Will these banners survive being left outside?

Rain is not a problem. The 440gsm PVC used here is a solid vinyl that water runs straight off, and it is meant for outdoor jobs such as shop fronts, club railings, walls and fetes. Sun, wind and the way it is tied up decide how many months it looks good. A hem round the edge, metal eyelets rather than plastic, and every hole tied all make a real difference. Where it faces a strong wind on open fencing or scaffolding, mesh copes better because the air goes through. We print these banners on 440gsm PVC. For reference, Event Banners are listed in 12 sizes, the smallest being 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm).

Is there a knack to tying up these banners?

Corners go first, which keeps it level, then the rest of the eyelets along the top and bottom edges. Pull each fixing just firm enough to take up the slack without stretching the banner. Cable ties, bungees and rope all work; bungees have a bit of stretch, useful for solid PVC on a windy railing. Check it again after the first gusty day and replace anything that has snapped. We print these banners on 440gsm PVC. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each banner is made to order for you.

Can a private person buy a single banner?

Yes. One is enough, and you do not need a business name or an account to check out. The opening price is £36.53, and any bank card will do. On its own the opening price of £36.53 would add £7.95 for mainland delivery; reach £100 of goods and that goes to zero. A person still checks your file before it is printed, just as for a big order. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each banner is made to order for you. On its opening option, Event Banners leaves us after 6 working days on Saver.

Is there a minimum quantity for these banners?

The smallest order is 1 and the largest listed is 99; the list starts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 and carries on from there. The price on the page covers every item in that quantity. To compare two quantities fairly, split each total by its number. A bigger run than the list allows can be priced separately on our Get a quote page. Before delivery, these banners cost from £36.53. Sizes for these banners go from 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) at the small end to 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm), 12 in all. On this page, Event Banners start from £36.53.

Could the total go up after I reach the checkout?

The only thing that can join the goods price is delivery; the price you see is the price you pay at checkout. Delivery anywhere on the UK mainland is £7.95 an order, and it costs nothing once the goods come to £100 or more after any discount code (design and artwork fees are not counted). If you pick a paid design option, it sits in the basket as a separate line with its own fee, so every penny is listed before you pay. Sizes for these banners go from 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) at the small end to 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm), 12 in all.

How much does an 8 ft × 3 ft (2438 × 914 mm) banner cost?

From £64.91, with the cheapest settings and the Saver service. Add £7.95 for UK mainland delivery, or nothing at all once the goods reach £100. Select it on the page and swap materials, finishes and speed to watch how the figure moves. Before delivery, these banners cost from £36.53. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each banner is made to order for you. For reference, Event Banners are listed in 12 sizes, the smallest being 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm).

How much for the biggest size, 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm)?

From £161.77, with the cheapest settings and the Saver service. That clears the £100 mark on its own, so UK mainland delivery costs nothing. Select it on the page and swap materials, finishes and speed to watch how the figure moves. Sizes for these banners go from 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) at the small end to 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm), 12 in all. Before delivery, these banners cost from £36.53. For reference, Event Banners are listed in 12 sizes, the smallest being 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm).

We are a school PTA on a tight budget. How do we get a banner for the summer fair as cheaply as possible?

Start with the smallest size, 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm), from £36.53, and the Saver turnaround, which is the lowest price and takes 6 working days before it is sent. Putting the design together yourself on screen costs nothing. Leave the year off so it can go up again next summer. The price you see is the price you pay at checkout, with delivery the only thing that can be added. Sizes for these banners go from 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) at the small end to 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm), 12 in all.

Is there a quicker turnaround for these banners?

Work back from the day you need them. Express takes 2 working days to get Event Banners out, against 6 on Saver, and costs £48.70 on the opening option rather than £36.53. Add up to three working days for the courier, plus any time you need to finish the file. Cutting it fine? Put your date in the question box before you order.

I live in the Scottish Highlands. Will Event Banners cost more to send?

The whole UK is covered. Outside it, sadly, we cannot deliver. Mainland addresses in the Highlands pay one extra £10 on the order, even when delivery would otherwise be free. For Northern Ireland, and for the Channel Islands, the Scottish islands, Scilly, the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man, we tell you the delivery cost before you pay, so message us your postcode on the Contact page or our Get a quote page. Choose Saver and these banners leave us after 6 working days; Express brings that down to 2. The biggest sizes of these banners go by specialist courier, which adds £15 once to the order. On its opening option, Event Banners leaves us after 6 working days on Saver.

Will anyone look at my file before it is printed?

Every file gets a human check for size, bleed and resolution, and we contact you about any problem before printing. With the online designer, what you see on screen is what gets printed. Nobody can know your details better than you, so double-check names, numbers and dates: we print what is supplied, and work begins once the order and file are confirmed. Make the artwork for these banners the same size as the one you order, such as 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm).

I am not a designer. What if the file I send turns out to be unusable?

You will not be left guessing. Each uploaded file is opened and looked over by a member of the team, and problems such as low-resolution pictures, no bleed or the wrong page size are sent back to you to fix before printing. If fixing it sounds like a chore, choose typesetting for £15: we lay out your text and logo, show you a first draft, then make up to two rounds of changes. Make the artwork for these banners the same size as the one you order, such as 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm). On this page, Event Banners start from £36.53.

How many pixels does a photo need to print well on these banners?

Roughly 11,811 pixels across and 7,874 down for a 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm) design, which is 100 dpi. That is plenty for something people read from a few metres away; anywhere from 100 to 150 dpi at full size will do. Text and logos are safest as vector art, which never goes fuzzy. Pictures saved from a website or social media are nearly always too small, and our file check will point out any that could print blurred. Make the artwork for these banners the same size as the one you order, such as 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm).

How tall do the letters need to be so people can read these banners from a distance?

Start from how far back your readers will be. Capital letters 25 mm tall are good for roughly 3 m, so 240 mm capitals reach somewhere near 29 m. On a banner measuring 6 ft × 3 ft (1829 × 914 mm), that is one line of text once a 50 mm border is kept all round, leaving 814 mm of height. Add a smaller second line only if you really need it, and pick a thick, plain font. Make the artwork for these banners the same size as the one you order, such as 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm). On this page, Event Banners start from £36.53.

Once I finish designing these banners online, is the file mine to keep?

Yes. Order printing with an online design and a full resolution PDF comes with it; after payment you can download it from your confirmation email or from My Account. Just want the file? Finish the design and buy the print-ready PDF on its own for £9.99. As digital content, it cannot be cancelled once the download begins. Make the artwork for these banners the same size as the one you order, such as 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm). Nothing is printed ahead of time: each banner is made to order for you. For reference, Event Banners are listed in 12 sizes, the smallest being 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm).

Would these banners look right inside a hall or a shop?

Yes. PVC hangs flat and the print comes out crisp, so it suits school halls, church halls, receptions, stage fronts and indoor events. If you would rather avoid PVC indoors, our PVC-free banners are made in the same sizes. Inside you can skip the ties altogether. Hang it by the eyelets from hooks or a length of cord, or use hanging strips that peel off cleanly. You will also find these banners in our Mechanics & Garages section. Before delivery, these banners cost from £36.53.

Could we put these banners up on a building site or around works?

For a few days, or somewhere sheltered, yes. If the banner will hang on open fencing for weeks, a mesh banner copes far better because the wind passes through. Secure every eyelet or hole with a cable tie and look it over after a gusty spell. You will also find these banners in our Mechanics & Garages section. Sizes for these banners go from 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) at the small end to 9 ft 10 in × 6 ft 7 in (3000 × 2000 mm), 12 in all. Material choices for Event Banners: 440gsm PVC.

I work with mechanics and garages. Are these banners something we could use?

For garages, forecourts and service bays, look under Mechanics & Garages in the shop: Event Banners are listed there. Prices begin at £36.53; 12 sizes are listed, starting at 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm); they are made from 440gsm PVC. People buying for that kind of work often add Taxi Magnetic Signs or Indoor Banners. Put everything in one order and delivery is free at £100 or more.

I run a small shop. Would these banners work on the front of it?

That works well. Tie a PVC banner to the fascia or a railing to announce a launch, a sale or something new you now offer. As a guide, 6 ft 7 in × 3 ft 3 in (2000 × 1000 mm) costs £61.49. Ask your landlord first, and the local council too if the sign is big or illuminated, as some shop signs need advertisement consent. You will also find these banners in our Mechanics & Garages section. Material choices for Event Banners: 440gsm PVC.

Our sports club wants to put these banners up on match days and take them down afterwards. Is that too much wear?

Yes, that is the kind of use it is made for. Tie it to the pitch-side rail through the eyelets, then snip or untie the ties at the end of the day and roll it up with the print on the outside. On a very exposed ground, mesh is kinder to the ties because wind passes through it. Keep it dry and rolled between fixtures and it will be ready for the next home game. You will also find these banners in our Mechanics & Garages section. Before delivery, these banners cost from £36.53. For reference, Event Banners are listed in 12 sizes, the smallest being 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm).

We have a school fair coming up. Would these banners be suitable?

They work well fixed to railings, fencing, a gazebo or an easel. Outdoors, look at the fixings again if it turns windy. Order with enough time for the making and the courier before the event. You will also find these banners in our Mechanics & Garages section. Before delivery, these banners cost from £36.53. On its opening option, Event Banners leaves us after 6 working days on Saver.

Our spot gets windy. Is a PVC banner going to cope?

Think of solid PVC stretched along open fencing as a sail. Every gust presses on the whole sheet, and all that force ends up in the eyelets and the ties. So use every eyelet, pull it firm without stretching it, look at the ties again after the first blustery spell, and bring it in if a storm is on the way. If it has to stay up for weeks somewhere exposed, mesh is the better buy because much of the wind blows through it. We print these banners on 440gsm PVC. Material choices for Event Banners: 440gsm PVC.

Cable Ties on Event Banners: how do the choices differ?

Add a bag or two of ties and you will not be hunting for them on the day you hang it. Do the four corners first, then work along every eyelet. For Event Banners the list runs 2 bags, 1 bag or none. Try each one on the page: the figure changes as you click, so the cost of every choice is clear.

Which eyelets would you suggest for Event Banners?

The eyelets option has 2 settings: metal eyelets or plastic eyelets. Eyelets are the little rings set into the border so a tie or bungee can go through. If it is staying outside for weeks or months, go for metal, which lasts longer than plastic. Switch between them on the page and the total updates straight away, so you can see what each one adds. We print these banners on 440gsm PVC. Before delivery, these banners cost from £36.53.

Does the hemming option I choose make a difference to Event Banners?

The hemming option has 2 settings: none or Hemmed Edges. Hemming turns the edge over and welds it down, so the eyelets grip a double layer and the border is far less likely to rip. For anything facing the weather it is money well spent. Switch between them on the page and the total updates straight away, so you can see what each one adds. We print these banners on 440gsm PVC. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each banner is made to order for you. For reference, Event Banners are listed in 12 sizes, the smallest being 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm).

How should I keep these banners between uses?

Make sure it is bone dry and clean, then roll it up loosely with the print on the outside, round a cardboard tube if one is handy. Try not to fold it, because sharp folds leave creases and the ink can crack along them. Snip off old cable ties before rolling so they do not press marks into the print, and store the roll in a dry cupboard well clear of radiators. We print these banners on 440gsm PVC. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each banner is made to order for you. On this page, Event Banners start from £36.53.

Is it legal to hang these banners on a fence or building I do not own?

Only with the owner's say-so, so ask the landowner or building owner before anything goes up. In England, outdoor banners are adverts in the eyes of the 2007 Control of Advertisements Regulations. Plenty of temporary banners need no application, but the size, the location and how long it is left up all count. Your local council can tell you if you are in doubt. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland each have similar rules of their own. We print these banners on 440gsm PVC. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each banner is made to order for you. On this page, Event Banners start from £36.53.

Which cards do you take, and is paying online safe?

You pay by debit or credit card when you check out, and you can do it as a guest without making an account. Card details are handled by Stripe, a specialist payment company, so the full card number never reaches us or sits on our system. Printing starts after payment goes through and your file has been checked. If your group needs a price agreed before anyone pays, ask for a quote instead. Before delivery, these banners cost from £36.53.

Can I swap my file once I have paid?

It depends on timing. Until production begins, a new file can replace the old one, or the order can be cancelled with a full refund; once it has begun, nothing can be changed. Message us straight away on the Contact page with your order number. Items printed exactly as supplied or designed do not count as faulty, so check names, numbers and dates first. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each banner is made to order for you.

Next year we will want the same banner again. Is reordering easy?

Yes. Treat it as a fresh order of the same item with the same settings, and attach the file you used last time. For online designs, the print-ready PDF from the original paid order is waiting in My Account and your confirmation email. Change any details that have moved on, such as a new email address or this year's date, before uploading. Nothing is printed ahead of time: each banner is made to order for you.

Which mistakes does the online designer warn me about?

Spelling is the one thing it cannot judge, so read that yourself. It does catch placeholder words nobody changed, tiny lettering, anything drifting beyond the safe area or near the trim, blurry logos and photos, and objects covering words. Issues that would spoil the print stop you finishing until they are sorted; lighter warnings you may choose to accept. Make the artwork for these banners the same size as the one you order, such as 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm). Nothing is printed ahead of time: each banner is made to order for you. On this page, Event Banners start from £36.53.

Can I design these banners first and show the committee before we pay?

Yes. The online designer is free to use, so you can build the design, look at it on screen and share it round before anyone commits. The preview carries a watermark on screen only; it never appears on the printed item. When everyone is happy, finish the design and order. What you see is what gets printed, so check names, dates and numbers together first. Make the artwork for these banners the same size as the one you order, such as 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm). Nothing is printed ahead of time: each banner is made to order for you. Material choices for Event Banners: 440gsm PVC.

Can I change the material on Event Banners?

It is what your design gets printed onto. On Event Banners there is no choice to make: 440gsm PVC is what we use. Your size, quantity and turnaround settle the final figure. Switch between the options on the page and the total moves with you, so comparing costs is quick.

I sell at a weekly market. Which banner fits along the front of a stall?

Look at the long, shallow sizes: 4 ft × 2 ft (1219 × 610 mm) from £36.53 and 4 ft 11 in × 1 ft 8 in (1500 × 500 mm) from £37.53 sit well along a table front or the top rail of a gazebo. Measure the width of your stall first, then tie through the eyelets to the frame. Put your stall name in big letters and one line about what you sell; that is what shoppers take in as they walk past. Once we are done with these banners, how do we get rid of them responsibly?

Most household recycling will not take PVC banner or mesh material, so using it again is the greener option. Store it carefully for next time, or reuse it as a cover or a tarp. A few specialist recyclers do accept PVC banners, so it is worth asking your council or your waste collector. We print these banners on 440gsm PVC.

It has got muddy. How can I clean these banners?

A bowl of warm water with a drop of gentle washing-up liquid and a soft sponge or cloth is all you need. Rinse with clean water afterwards and let it dry, hanging up or laid flat. Keep away from solvents, scouring pads and pressure washers, as they can strip the ink or scuff the surface. Only roll it up once it is completely dry, otherwise it may mark or start to smell. We print these banners on 440gsm PVC.
